Ok, just made up a game and I want to try it. I think it could work as long as we keep up the activity we have been. Which, by the way, I LOVE you guys for! I'm so happy with the activity lately! So, to celebrate, have a new game! No idea if this will totally bomb or not. Rules are simple: 1.) You are to reply to the current random topic in place 2.) When someone posts a reply to the random topic they are allowed to change the current random topic to a new random topic 3.) You must reply in order to be allowed to change the random topic 4.) If you wish the current random topic to continue, then simply say "Topic Continued" in some way at the end of your reply 5.) If you wish the current random topic to change, then at the end of your post say something on the lines of "Change Topic" or "Topic Change" or whatever and then say what you want it changed to. 6.) There is no length requirement, however PLEASE say more than "What the fuck? Change topic." Give an actual reply Note: If you wish to ALSO post about the topic you have changed it to, you may. It would mean you have to post about two topics, but hey, I'm always up for people sharing their thoughts, opinions and talking more. So go for it! But you can't talk about the topic you changed it to and then change it again. Just a heads up. I'll start! CURRENT RANDOM TOPIC: School Fire Alarms GOD I HATE SCHOOL FIRE ALARMS! You have NO damn idea how many times back in middle school the fire alarm got pulled as prank!! It's loud, it's obnoxious and completely unneeded. YOU HEARD ME! WE DON'T NEED FIRE ALARMS! Screw them! Have an automatic announcement that you hear over the speakers! Have the flashing lights and all that! But we do NOT need the loud blazing alarms that we have currently! For one thing it's completely disorienting. Another thing is that it causes even more panic than is already going on due to the fire. We children do not need blazing alarms going on when we already think there's a fire! Our ears are sensitive, unless we're deaf! In that case the blazing sound is even LESS needed because it can't even be heard! It's completely silly and the system needs to be changed! There is a way to do this without trauma and migraines for small children and adults! ~Continue Topic~ |

I love school fire alarms. Such panic and disarray! You have NO idea how many times I used to pull them back in my school days. Ah, the memories. I will however agree that the sound is obnoxious. The older ones that was simply the constant ring weren't so bad but these new ones that sound like dubstep gone horribly wrong are just impossibly irritable. I believe they're meant to drive you out of the building as fast as possible even if there isn't a fire and personally if they can legally set something like that in public buildings I think I should be allowed something like that in my home! Why is there no lever for my homes fire alarm?! I want to pull it when I have unwanted company! A lever that clears out any room, any building, I would even use it when my upstairs neighbor began to grate at my nerves. Why are we not funding this?! In fact I'm off to go pull several fire alarms to prove my point and send people scurrying back to their homes so they can sit there and wonder why that sort of technology doesn't exist in their house while they read a book or something because their previous plans had been ripped from them! ~Continue Topic~ Edited by Raven, Monday Jun 30 2014, 12:17 AM.

You are evil, though I think you knew that. I will say that I do agree, the old fire alarms are much better. The loud ringing bell was better than the sound it is now. I'm sorry but THIS sounds so much better than THIS or THIS. Actually, speaking of dub-step...they should change all the current alarms to something like this. Then again...if it was actual dub-step, a good portion of the students wouldn't want to leave because then they wouldn't be able to hear the alarm anymore. ALSO kids would want to pull it more because they would want to hear the dub-step alarm. *laughs* So perhaps it's a good thing it's loud and obnoxious, as it deters people from actually pulling it...at least it deters SOME people from pulling it. <_< This however does not change the fact I find it exceedingly annoying. I don't like the sound. It hurts my brain and ears. ~Continue Topic~ |

I always hated fire drills in school, always so annoying to have to stop what I'm doing to just go outside then go back in. Although I did like it in winter because I always had my jacket with me so I was nice and warm while everyone else froze. But overall I do not like them, the sound is just the worst thing. ~New Topic~ Pokemon Am I the only one who has, like, no clue what's going on with pokemon now? I mean, there's just way too many of them. The last game I played was Emerald I believe, or maybe Ruby. Either way, Gen 3, now they're on, what? 6? 7? I just can't keep up, and the pokemon are just getting weird. Like the originals were weird, but now there's like, an icecream cone pokemon? And a garbage pokemon? What? I just.....what? |

I was never a 'first-genner' or whatever they call it, one of those people who swear by the first or even second generation of pokemon and irrationally hate all the later generations of pokemon but I'll admit for the longest time I was hesitant to try the newer games. The pokemon didn't appeal to me but I didn't much care for the idea of a new game with the old ones either. I was in a strange state of believing the series was best left alone for awhile. That wasn't to say they should stop making the games but I fell out of playing them for awhile. Pokemon Red was where I started playing when I was younger but Pokemon Silver was where I'd fallen in love so when the remake of Gold and Silver came out I stepped out of my Playstation Bubble that I'd locked myself in for the past few years and picked up HeartGold. I fell in love again, let me tell you. It took some getting used to but eventually the sprite art grew on me and I stopped caring how abnormally large my head was and enjoyed exploring with my pokemon. HeartGold gave me something I never had, because I never owned Pokemon Yellow. It gave me a pokemon partner who would walk by my side, whom I could talk to during the long journey. I realized that this was something I greatly wanted all along and that I'd felt was missing before, that connection. Sadly my HeartGold crashed shortly after I arrived in Kanto so I never finished the next region but somewhere in my mind I kept telling myself that I'd try again. The other games started taunting me though, Diamond and Pearl, Black and White... I got Pearl and Black, sticking with my normal fashion of picking one of the two versions and playing that. I got about three hours into Pearl and shut the game off, not caring if I'd saved or not and haven't picked it up since. Black I got maybe one hour in before I did the same. What I'd loved about HeartGold and the direction I thought they were going with the series was gone and I couldn't have been more disappointed. The pokemon designs turned me off at first but once my brain just said they were pokemon I accepted their strangeness just as I had the other generations. Though I do find that the more they drift from animal-like pokemon and towards more man-made objects the more I get turned off. X and Y did a bit better with having more animal-like pokemon but I've yet to give that generation a try seeing as I haven't brought myself to get 'caught up' by playing the other gens... I think someday I'll bring myself to play through them just to say I did it but I doubt I'd enjoy them as much as I did HeartGold. In fact I might play it on the side just to save my sanity. It isn't just a matter of my favorite pokemon being there either, it's the dynamic that I feel they caught by letting your pokemon walk with you (or fly, I had my Pidgeot flying behind me a lot). It brought something to the table I was hoping they'd continue and from what I've heard they don't plan to. Which makes me sad... ~Continue Topic D:~ Edited by Darius, Thursday Jul 3 2014, 05:42 PM.

Personally, I never saw the point of Pokemon period. I still don't see the point of it, especially the card games. However, the same things could be said about the things I'm interested in so it's not like I can really say much. I'm also not a big fan of anime; there's only one that I'll really watch and most of the time I have to go back to the beginning to watch it because I get through half of it and decide I'm done with it. Pokemon never sparked any interest in me; but I never made fun of the people who enjoyed it. I just usually kept my mouth shut and moved on. I'm a little surprised it's still going as well; I thought it'd be over by now, but, stuff like that has never seemed to have lost its popularity so it'll probably still be around when I'm in my thirties or something haha. ~New Topic~ One name: Sherlock Holmes. There are so many different versions of this series and yet each one is just as brilliant. I do have to say that the BBC one with Benedict Cumberbatch is my favorite...but Robert Downey Jr's version comes in a close second.

I could never get into the books, the shows, the movies, any of it. I get the whole murder mystery thing and he's like this Ace Detective or something but honestly it kind of comes across as a cop show without the cops exactly. Though I guess he was working with the 'cops' Scotland Yard and all that. From what I've seen he has this sort of 'always right, unless it would be interesting otherwise, then he'll be misled' sort of feel. Like the character is a bit too perfect, a good role for Robert Downy Jr. considering Iron Man has the same 'flaw' in my opinion but at least he did have faults. Like I said, I haven't really gotten into the books or shows but the character never seemed too human to me, didn't really have his own problems, fears, doubts, I could be wrong and just never got into it that far but that's what I've experienced... ~New Topic~ Online and Offline gaming becoming one in the same. I'm talking about these newer games you buy that have online content or can be played co-op online. Does anyone other then me find it distracting and even a deterrent from playing the game? It seems like if a game has the option to go online with it people EXPECT you to do so and if you don't then you're weird. It feels like they're trying to faze out solo console gaming and I'm not exactly sure why, or you know, having your friends physically come over to play games and be social with you. I understand it when you don't have friends or none that are close by but when two best-friends who have no reason they could hang out are playing online together it saddens me... Part of the experience of playing together used to be sitting next to your bud bumping them on purpose to mess them up or asking them to keep you alive while you went to get a drink and they grabbed your controller to move you out of the way. I don't know, it's been annoying to me... Not even getting into online only content |

I don't see the point of having an option for playing any game online if it's already offline. Obviously, the company wants you to socialize with your friends and family so there shouldn't be an option to play offline games online. Card games are even offered online: Uno, solitaire, go fish, poker, etc. You don't even have to leave the house to play these games with other people. I'm not a big fan of online games anyways. If I'm going to go online for something it's YouTube, Pandora radio, or Microsoft Office haha. ~Continue Topic~ |

A note for the previous topic of Sherlock Holmes: While I agree slightly the Dare, the BBC version of this old classic kind of addresses this issue. He still has a lot of times he's always right and gets it before everyone else, but a lot of times he EXPLAINS how he got to that conclusion as well as explains WHY his brain works the way it does. He's got mental disorders that cause his way of thinking and seeing to warp. He observes everything. From these observations, he makes deductions. However his partner in (solving) crime, Watson, writes a blog about their adventures and points out a few things that Sherlock has wrong with him. Things like he didn't/doesn't know the Earth goes around the Sun. Sherlock gets annoyed/pissy when he can't figure something our or people don't give him what he wants. He's picky with his cases and at times acts like a child. It's a very interesting concept. BBC did a good job of giving the old classic a more modern twist to it, setting it in present day and giving actual medical reasoning to the reason Sherlock thinks and acts the way he does. They make him seem very human. Granted, he's not normal, but there are characters around that don't like him because of how he is. There is one female that constantly refers to him as "Freak" rather than his actual name...it's a very interesting concept. MOVING ON. ~CURRENT TOPIC~ Online and Offline gaming becoming one in the same I'm also very sad by the fact that they seem to be trying to snuff out solo console gaming. It makes me want to cry on the inside. I love it when I have friends over and we play games together or we take turns playing a game. It's a very social thing and it's a lot of fun goofing off together. I don't understand why we're all being forced into online gaming even if there is an offline gaming option. ~New Topic~ Minors Dating Non-minors (Sex not included) Ok if two people, one 16 and one 23, are dating I'm not ok with it. Doesn't matter if they are having "sexual relations" or not. Once you hit 20 you shouldn't date anyone under the age of 18. If your 19 and dating someone who's 17, I'm a little more ok with that. Not 100% comfortable with it, but hey it's your busniess. But if your 20 and they aren't turning 18 within a week, don't go there. Just wait that week for them to turn 18, then you don't have to worry about any laws that could get you screwed over. I've known to many people burned by dating people younger than 18, it's not pretty. Police were involved and it was just a horrible thing to happen. Also if your older than 18, but not yet 21, be careful about dating people over 21. It's not illegal, so I'm not saying people can't or shouldn't, just that they should always be careful. They can drink, you can't. If you get dragged into drinking you could get a fine or put in jail for underage drinking. Hell even if you weren't drinking you have to go through a bunch of stuff just to prove you weren't. You HAVE to be careful! Kids these days...I've heard of a 16 year old being in a relationship with a 25 year old. Just...just...NO. I've also heard of the 3 year age gap law. That if a 20 year old is dating a 17 year old it's legal as long as there isn't anything past just dating. I just have an issue being ok with that because of all the things that could go wrong. If you piss off the wrong person, everything goes south. There's not a lot of evidence that can prove the older person of the relationship innocent UNLESS the younger can prove they're still virgin. If they can't do that, tough luck. I'm not saying you have to wait to have sex till when your married, but at least try to keep it in your pants till your of legal age. |

The minors dating non-minors: I also find it a little...discomforting...knowing that someone who is 23 is dating someone who is 16...while there may not be a huge gap between their ages, it's still a little iffy. The rule I've heard is half your age, plus 7. Say you're 36, the YOUNGEST you could go is 25. I don't like the idea of dating someone younger than me anyways, but that's a personal opinion. ~ New Topic ~ Disney hiding sex jokes in their movies There are soooooooooo many jokes hidden in the Disney movies that I never realized before. So freaking many! Like, in The Hunchback of Notre Dame: Frollo basically sings a song about how horny he is. The jokes that sometimes come out make you realize Disney isn't as innocent as you thought it to be. |
