Blue Lightning
|
Name: Flik Age: 27 Star: Tenan, The Dark Star Hometown: Warriors' Village, Lorimar Region, Toran Republic Occupation: Veteran of the Gate Rune Wars / Mercenary of Muse, Mounted Archer Captain Weapon: Odessa / Odessa+ / Odessa++ (One-Handed Sword) Flik's sword follows the standard design of a weapon from Warriors' Village. A simple double-edged long-sword, made from a local ore of the Lorimar Region, known for it's dependability. The blade it's self is kept relatively polished but the signs of age are quite obvious, the edge has a few nicks and while still sharp, it takes some brute effort to be effective. The hilt is angled forward in a V-shape, this is for defense as much as it is counter-attacks, catching opposing blades and quickly turning them aside. The hilt is stained a deep regal blue to match Flik's attire, the handle is wrapped in a cured piece of dragon hide, and a simple lapis lazuli gem acts as the pommel. The scabbard is made from the same cured and perforated dragon-hide to match the handle wrap. Runes: Head - Sealed Left Hand - Sealed Right Hand - - Lightning RuneClass and MP: Runic Fighter, 8/6/4/2 Character Description: ![]() Flik is a tall, well-toned adventurer, windswept brown hair, azure eyes, and dashing good looks. This warrior's face ranges from shouting battle orders to a serene yet confident smile. Flik keeps a beguiling look of confidence most often, as if he sees something others do not. His attire is made up of black cloth pants, black leather boots which are covered by a set of leather greaves colored blue, held in place by straps of leather. He wears a thin, yellow turtle-neck sweater under a long-sleeved navy blue tunic, held in place by a brown leather belt. Over that he wears a simple, brown and black leather breastplate. Finally, a high-collared black leather mantle holds his most noticeable piece of clothing, his blue cape, in place. Biography: Flik originally hails from the Warrior Village of Lorimar, a region within what is now the Toran Republic. This village was founded by Klift the Paladin, after he successfully repelled the forces of Harmonia and was granted the land by Hikusaak, impressed with the Paladin's efforts. Several generations later, the town that was formed by this legend, had flourished and was one of the main sources of able men to be recruited into the army of the Scarlet Moon Empire. Each family in the village can trace their heritage back to Klift in some form or another, and each young man takes a vow, naming their blade after their beloved before setting off on an adventure of self-growth. Flik is one of the rare exceptions to this tradition, having left the village before naming his blade. He worked for years, doing odd jobs that required a blade before meeting Odessa Silverberg. In what many may call random chance and others, fate, Odessa was fighting imperials as Flik leaped in to fight alongside her, stricken by her beauty. Following his young heart, he joined her cause, the Liberation Army, an Anti-Imperial Movement after several crimes their country's government had committed. Flik was quickly smitten with the fiery red-head and it wasn't long before she developed feelings in return. Flik lacked the sophistication that most men held that she was used to, but he was also quick to make plans and ideas into action for both her and the army, traits that caught her off guard and impressed her. During this time, Flik's mastery of the Lightning rune and appearance earned him the title of "The Blue Lightning" as the Liberation Army fought tooth and nail against the Empire. He was quickly made the Vice-Commander of the army and fought bravely alongside other allies such as: Ronnie Bell, Humphrey, Mose, and Viktor. Viktor in particular made a connection with Flik in an uncanny sort of way, the duo acted as foil to one another often times, complimenting but keeping the other level headed. It was in this time though that Viktor brought the young, Tir McDohl into the ranks, which at first was met with suspicion and little appreciation as Flik quickly pointed out, several of their bases had recently been discovered, one after the other. It wasn't long before Odessa asked McDohl to accompany her in delivering the blueprints of the Fire Spears, ordering Flik to act has leader in her place, leaving him to guard the fort and what soldiers they had. They were discovered again and were forced to flee to the Kunan region. Flik began recovering what soldiers he could and in a strange bit of luck, heard about the new base of operations of the Liberation army. He immediately went there personally to find his old friends and Odessa, but upon arrival something seemed suspicious and he began demanding to see Odessa. Tir and Mathiu practically blurted her fate out to him, and in a mixture of rage, frustration, and doubt, Flik stormed out of the base, leaving Humphrey and Sanchez with his location if they wanted to join 'his' cause. Viktor along with McDohl arrived to talk with Flik soon after and the two parties came to an agreement after Flik realized how foolish he had acted. He rejoined the forces, stating that he couldn't accept McDohl as a leader just yet, but he wished to fight on for Odessa's cause. With the combination of the two forces, Mathiu suggested they attack Scarleticia Castle and soon the Liberation army was on the move. It wasn't one of their hardest battles but it was a victory well earned as the forces of Milich had been routed. Suspecting something was up, Mathiu suggest to send in a small force to investigate before entering the Castle, however a fool-hardy Flik lead several soldiers ahead right to the castle. This was Flik's most glaring mistake, as the castle was protected by a monstrous flower that emitted poisonous pollen, making several hundred soldiers sickeningly ill, killing most. Learning little from this, Flik stubbornly pressed himself into Tir's company for reconnaissance into Kunan. Flik began to see then, what it was that so many believed in about their new leader, he also learned a bit of humility. Following this, he did his utmost to help bring down the empire. Flik worked with renewed conviction and assisted with uniting the Dragon Knights with the Liberation army. Flik helped in whatever way he could, but it wasn't until the battle for Shasarazade that Flik's emotions took over. When Sanchez ignited the explosives too soon and stabbed Mathiu, it was apparent that it was Sanchez who was giving away the locations of all their secret bases in the past. It was Sanchez who was responsible for Odessa's death, and when Flik came to realize this, he drew his sword in her honor and was ready to dispatch the traitor. Mathius however had other plans. Despite his grievous wound, he ordered Flik to wait on the punishment, saying it would lower the moral of the troops at such an important time. Flik agreed regretfully, but he knew by now that Mathiu's judgment was always in the best interests of the war and the troops. When the Liberation Army began it's final march on Gregminster, Flik, alongside Viktor, stepped up to watch all their effort finally be put to it's final use. Escorting Tir through the castle and finally confronting Emperor Barbarossa Rugner. In his last defense against the Emperor, he activated the power of the Sovereign Rune, transforming himself into a Golden Hydra. After a long and grueling battle, Rugner knelled in defeat as Windy appeared to mock him. Barbarossa admitted his mistakes, and taking Windy in his arms, leaped from the railing. The castle was now crumbling and the group attempted to make their escape, but soldiers still pursued them. It was in this time that Viktor opted to act as a deterrent, telling Flik to protect Tir. He fulfilled this duty shortly after, taking an arrow aimed at the young hero, in his stead. Slightly wounded, Flik ordered Tir to keep going, and so, he too attempted to slow down the soldiers. In some miracle, Viktor survived his heroic attempt and helped Flik escape the castle before it crumbled on top of them. The duo traveled north with a few comrades, to Dunan. Through some connections Viktor had, they found work as Mercenaries. Viktor soon began construction on his fort, employing several of the locals to join them as mercenaries of Muse. There they keep watch over what Anabelle hopes is just her imagination, as the Highland army has been quite active along their borders lately. Personality: Only several years ago, Flik was the impatient warrior, ready to charge head first into anything that stood in his way without thinking. Odessa's death, coupled with the friendship of his allies, and watching Mathiu in action, have taught him quite a bit however. Today Flik is a far more observant man, yet wasting little time. He brought a new level of strategic intelligence to rival his swordsmanship, which he lacked in Toran. Flik is now the cool-headed warrior of the duo, knowing what impulsiveness can do to a man. However the fire in his heart wasn't put completely out, just the right words can ignite him into action once again on personal matters. But as a leader of men, Flik is often looked to for advice and orders. This carries over in personal matters by younger associates of his, seeing him as an adult figure, who would look out for them. Here Flik still tries his best to be calm and composed but certain issues can fluster the Blue Lightning. Often times Flik will also throw out the sarcastic comment to his friends in a playful manner if not reminding them of the situation. Flik does this too to his enemies, taunting them but also to just plain mock them. Aside from that, Flik is confident and friendly, at times he may seem hard to approach but that only means he is deep in thought. When he is alone, his thoughts often linger to the past, to Odessa. But that only serves to remind him that he must carry on her ideals and hopes for him. Prologue (RP Sample): The man draped in blue known as Flik walked through the halls of Viktor's Fort with a silent determination. The troops were in a mix of uneasy silence from the veterans, and know-it-all, fresh recruits. A frown sunk into his face, as he too was feeling the uneasiness of battle creeping it's way through his limbs. His sour disposition was washed away though as one of his officer's ran up to him. "Flik, we couldn't find anyone willing to join up today. Patrols are all in place, guards in Toto and Ryube in place, and the scouts you ordered to watch North Sparrow are in place." The man said, with a hand on his hip, trying to keep as calm of a face as Flik, his furrowed face and scars resting like a searching boar. "Good, I hate to have to send those guys up there, they'll be roughing it for sure. But better safe then sorry." Flik nodded, motioning for the other to follow. "And you sent Han and Fei-long to Toto? Freutz and Shin-lo to Ryube right?" "Yes sir." he nodded. "Nice idea, sending them to guard their home towns." "Thanks, they'll fight to the death if something were to happen. Tomorrow I want to send an extra guard to each town from the opposite towns though. They'll be the ones to survive and get back to us. At least I hope so." Flik grimaced as he said it, he really hoped that all these reports were false, that the Highland Army wasn't amassing at the border, that... "Hmph... So, who do you think they are?" The officer asked as they stopped before the jail of the fort. "Kids Zang, kids." Flik walked up to the make-shift wooden cell just as the regions doctor stepped out after changing their dressings. "Here," he said, dropping several metallic shards in Flik's gloved hand. "They're lucky, I was able to fish them out of there." he added, wiping his hands in a clean towel. "I don't know what make those are, but they're not from our guys." "Thanks Doctor Huang." He shook the metal fragments in his hand, "So, when do you think they'll wake up?" "Well, I gave them enough to keep them out for the night, and I'll leave some extra medicine with Pohl in case anything happens. But I expect they'll wake up tomorrow." the Doctor nodded. "Alright, thank you for everything. We'll call you if we need you again." Flik nodded back as Huang took his leave. "Zang, what do these look like to you?" he asked, holding up one of the better looking arrow-heads. "Northern." he responded grimly. "Highland." |
