The Bear
Name: Viktor

Age: 31 (Born Solar Year 429)

Star: Tenko - The Lone Star

Hometown: North Window

Occupation: Mercenary / Veteran of the Gate Rune Wars / Vampire Hunter

Weapon: Taia Sword / Shiko Sword / Kouten Sword (Two Handed Sword)

A well travelled and durable two handed sword that has seen Viktor through thick and thin over the years. The blade possesses a darker colored alloy than most swords, and is met at the hilt by dark red guard and tape. The handle itself is of a brown color, with yellow tape wrapped around it, probably to make the grip easier for Viktor to handle. The Taia Sword can be upgraded to the Shiko and finally Kouten Sword under the watchful care of a skilled blacksmith.

During the Gate Rune Wars Viktor took possession of the Star Dragon Sword to battle the vampire Neclord. After completing that mission he eventually set the sword to rest in the Cave of the Wind because he was tired of the sword's constant complaining.

Runes:

Head: None
R. Hand: Killer Rune
L. Hand: None

Class and MP Tier: Heavy Warrior 6/4/2/0

Character Description: Posted Image

The phrase "Bear" is often used to describe Viktor, and it is not a stretch to say that this is true. Standing at around 5'11" and weighing in at around 220 pounds, Viktor is a man built on solid muscle. His arms are quite toned and rather muscular, showing off years of training and useage of a two-handed sword with the rest of his body packed with lean muscle. Despite this powerful appearance, his face shows off a sort of kindness and compassion his friends have seen time and time again. His black hair is messy and unmanaged, almost going down to the bottom of his neck and somewhat covering his brown eyes, eyes which have seen more things in his 31 years of life than most people in their 60s.

The yellow tunic he wears is sleevless with the collar pulled up, making Viktor's large arms even easier to spot. Overtop this tunic is a brown leather plate of armor protecting Viktor's chest and on top of that is a steel quarter plate which oddly protects the right side of Viktor's chest, and not his left where his heart is. Wrapped around his chest by a strap and hanging from his left side is a leather pouch where Viktor can carry any small items such as medicine that he may need in his travels. The brown leather belt Viktor wears secures his black pants which tuck into the bottom of his yellow tunic. The fierce bear's ensemble is completed by rugged brown leather high-top boots with tan laces.

Biography: Viktor was born in North Window in the Jowston City-State of South Window. Living a somewhat carefree life as a youth, he enjoyed to play around the Cave of the Wind, something that many of the North Window children did to prove their bravery. He grew up with his parents and a girl named Daisy, a war orphan who was adopted by Viktor's parents and became something of a sister to him. Apparently his parents had always hoped they would get married someday, but unfortunately this never came to be.

Viktor was on a trip to South Window one day to buy medicine for his grandmother, however upon his return, he found his town to be in ruins. The unholy runic vampire Neclord, usurper of the Blue Moon Rune, had laid waste to North Window and killed everyone and turned them into zombies, including Viktor's family. He also learned Daisy had commit suicide, resigning herself to death over being Neclord's unholy bride. Enraged by this, he attacked Neclord but was swiftly defeated, only being saved by the Sacficial Buddha Daisy had given him. Rescued by people from Kuskus, Viktor was nursed to health by Barbara, a woman who was also from North Window but wasn't in town during the attack.

When Viktor recovered, he set out on a quest of vengeance. He trained his body day and night, turning himself into a powerful two-handed swordsman. His training and travels landed him smack in the middle of the Gate Rune Wars, where he joined the Liberation Army of Odessa Silverburg. Despite initially garnering little trust from Flik and the others, Viktor recruited Tir McDohl into their cause, the man who would ultimately lead the Liberation Army to victory after Odessa's death.

During the Gate Rune Wars, Viktor found his chance to seek revenge when Neclord returned. In the Lorimar Region of what was the Scarlet Moon Empire, Neclord resurfaced to take young women as brides, and Viktor travelled with Tir to finish him off once and for all. Initially failing to even hurt him, Viktor's fortune changed when he found and gained possession of the Star Dragon Sword, otherwise known as the Night Rune (one of the 27 True Runes). Together, they sealed Neclord's powers and defeated him.

As a leading member of the Liberation Army with Flik, the pair helped secure many victories during the war and aided Tir during the final assault into Gregminster to kill Barbarossa Rugner and end the war. After Barbarossa presumably took his own life eliminating Windy, Flik and Viktor helped Tir escape by holding back soldiers and allowing him to escape to safety. After that the fate of the pair was unknown to many, believeing them to have perished within Gregminster's Palace.

This was not the case, as both survived that final battle and travelled north to Muse. Upon reaching Muse, the two raised a mercenary company and built a fort in Eastern Muse under the employ of Anabelle, Muse's Mayor and leader of the Jowston City-State Alliance. Despite the fact that Jowston and Highland are not currently at war, relations are tense and Anabelle fears that the slightest match could spark an outright conflict, so she continues to keep Viktor and Flik hired on as mercenaries to protect Muse's small eastern villages which are exposed to Highland in the north.

Personality: Viktor is quite often described as being a rogue, and the title is quite appropriate. He can be reckless and brash, and has been known to resort to some disreputable methods to achieve his goals, such as lying, theft, and even arson. Despite these tendencies, his intentions are never malicious. Despite this seemingly rogue nature, Viktor is very perceptive and a good judge of character, as apparent by his befriending of Tir McDohl during the Gate Rune Wars.

Despite being loud and somewhat obnoxious at times, Viktor is actually very kind-hearted and warm towards those he sees as friend and family, and is fiercely loyal to them. That same ferocity translates into trouble for those who cross his path. His determination to succeed is shown by his relentless hunting and defeat of Neclord.

Although not a drunkard or lush, Viktor certainly enjoys to indulge in drink on a regular basis, and it probably contributes to his sometimes loud behavior. He also seems to be somewhat clueless in the world of romance, considering his relationship towards Annabelle of Muse, but this may not be true due to the fact that he can be quite perceptive at times. Needless to say, few people truly understand Viktor completely due to the complicated life he's led, and this certainly is the reason he has developed such rogue-like tendencies as well as an ability to read people rather well.

RP Sample:

As Viktor sat at the bar in the Mercenary Fort enjoying a drink, he was approached by one of his fellow mercenaries who apparently had a message for him.

"Hey Viktor, when you get a second, the guys you sent to Muse are back." The young looking mercenary sounded a bit unsure in his voice, suggesting he was one of the younger recruits to the unit, or maybe he was intimidated by Viktor which wouldn't be a surprise.

"Alright, are they upstairs in the command room?" Viktor leaned over from his drink to look at the messenger who was standing in a stiff, somewhat nervous stance.

"Yes sir, they are." The messenger's nervousness became more apparent as Viktor pounded the rest of his drink and stood up to approach the man.

"Hey, what's wrong buddy?" Viktor was in a rather good mood, and was genuinely confused with why this soldier was so nervous.

"Oh, it's nothing, just..." The soldier trailed off before gaining the confidence to go on. "Well, it's just that...I'm new here, and everyone told me that when you drink you get all sorts of angry and don't like being bothered...sorry, sir."

"HA! That old gag!" Viktor slapped the mercenary on the back, almost causing him to fall over before he regained his balance. "Don't worry about it, buddy. Those guys were just jerking your chain. They love to mess with the new guys. You'll fit in fine here, just relax man." As Viktor started to walk away, he turned as the mercenary spoke up one last time.

"Oh, well thank you, sir!" As the duo parted ways, Viktor made his way upstairs to the command room of the Mercenary Fort.

"Hey guys, what's up?" Viktor casually addressed the duo as he made his way inside the command room, taking a seat near the map at the center of the room. The two soldiers were also near the map, but standing up.

"Well, we gave Anabelle our most recent situation report, and she told us to simply proceed with things as usual. No major changes to note on her end." As the soldiers spoke, Viktor simply sat in his seat, looking bored and uninterested.

"I figured as much, same old same old. I wonder if we'll ever see any action sitting around here." Viktor's look of boredom was further confirmed by his most recent comment. "I'd sure like to take a few Highland soldiers and smack their heads together but they seem to be behaving themselves lately...oh well..."

"Well, we'll be off, we've got work to do Viktor." As the two mercenaries made their way out of the command room, Viktor stayed put in his seat and simply gave a quick friendly wave goodbye.

"Man, still no action. Wonder what I'm gonna do to kill some time?" Viktor sat, pondering to himself as he leaned back in his chair and looked out one of the windows located in the room. "Ever since me and Flik came north after the war there hasn't been action like that since. I've even taken care of Neclord. Damn this sucks, I just don't feel like sitting around getting rusty."

Viktor stood up from his chair and gazed out the window seeing a few soldiers practicing their swordsmanship out in the main courtyard, "Oh, what's this? Guess this is the closest I'll get to some action. You guys better watch out!" Viktor began making his way outside, hoping to get some practice swinging his blade around, since the uneasy peace between Jowston and Highland meant there was no one else to fight at the moment.
