Tim and Dally are alike in a lot of ways. At the same time, though, they are extremely different. The Shepard thread explains a lot about Tim and how people see him, and I'm sure there are plenty of Dally haters out there, but think about it. (These are just my thoughts, so feel free to disagree or argue with any statements I make.)

Tim is more cool and calm, and knows how to handle a situation in more mature manners. He may be tougher, run is own gang, and carry around a lot of defensive weapons, but what is he really like? Tim is very grown up, and never really had the thrill of being a kid, or even a reckless teenager. He's got family still. He still has his Mom, who may or may not give a damn about him. He's got his two siblings, who he has to look out for. Because if he doesn't, then who will? Perhaps he enjoys being a hood for different reasons? Maybe he likes being in charge, and having people older and larger than him respect his authorities?

Dally is, as we all know, a lot more reckless and hard too handle then Tim is. His mother isn't mentioned, but I'm sure she's either disappeared, dead, or a damsel in distress. He doesn't have anything, as oppose to Tim, who still has a family and people to care about. Like he said, his father doesn't give a damn whether or not he's dead or in jail, which is pretty much the reason why he most likely hates the world and everything/everyone in it.

What are your thoughts and opinions, comparisons and differences, of the two boys?
