I'd only read a soc/greaser fic if its done really well and realistic. Both of them should be getting shit about it. I can't handle Cherry/anyone though. |

I MIGHT try Two-Bit/Marcia if it was bloomin' epic. But other than that - no. I CANNOT read Cherry, except once I read this beautiful fic that was pre book about her and Bob. It was really nice, little pointless, but lovely

Wouldn't it depend on the time frame? If you read That Was Then, This Is Now, Bryon mentions hanging out with Socs, going to their parties, dating their chicks. It's cool for the Socs to be friends with greasers -- shows off their "social awareness." And that's only a year after The Outsiders. Plus, the tensions could make for an interesting story, if it's done right. |

Let's go to the ma-a-all.

I'm with Erin on the soc/greaser thing ... but also Megan, lol. I have a definite weak spot for them (I think it's my good-girl/bad-boy love coming out), but I agree that there are certain things that have to be worked into it. Not everyone's gonna be happy about it, and there are always going to be those people who look down on the less well-off. I think Erin does a great job of showing the "social awareness" in Far Away. |
