Before that she did three tours of duty in the middle east and one in antartica. Department: Air Force Strengths: clever, resourceful (like MacGyver), better than average command skills, loyal, Weaknesses: sarcastic to the point of annoy, very OCD when stressed, some what reckless at times, tendency to freeze up at the sight of lots of blood, never thinks she's good enough, ATA Gene: natural carier Hobbies: writing, taking long jogs around the city, reading, watching whatever television shows that get sent through the gate, Likes: ice cream, watching movies, chatting with friends, Dislikes: being bored, McKay's technobabble (its never in a langage she understands), Woolsey (in general), Wraith. Appearance: Kate naturally has long blonde hair, but dyes it black or blue, depending on her mood hen she's on earth. She wears the usual Atlantis uniform, except on her vacation days when she wears black "tripp" pants and black band tees with knee high zipper boots. Weapons: Kate is trained in Tae Kwon Do up to the blue belt level. She carries a P90 and a small 9ml hand gun. She is also trained in swordsmanship, and carries a short blade sword on her back of world. History: Kate grew up in Snohomish county in Washington. Her parents divored when she was fifteen after her father was busted selling cocaine. She has a twin sister, Kathleen, who is a CSI in Seattle, and an autistic brother, Joseph. Her mother enroled Kate in Tae Kwon Do classes during her teenage years to teach her disipline and respect. Kate taught her self swordcraft to blow off steam during her two years in college. She graduated from Washington State University at age 20 with a mathmatics degree and soon joined the Air Force because she "wanted to learn to fly". She spent three tours in the middle east. While there she was involved in multiple raids and was transferred to McMurdo airbase after punching out a superior officer, a full bird colonel, over the treatment of civilians. She was helping transport some "classified material" when accidently activated a piece of ancient equipment. She was recruited shortly after to go to Atlantis. During one of her visits to Earth, she crash her sisters motor cycle and was off duty for three months before returning to Atlantis. Writing Sample: Kate walked into the infirmary to get someone to look at her head wound. She been trying to retrieve a ACDC cd from the top of her dresser, when the unschelduled activation alarm had startled her. She had slipped off the spinning chair she'd been using as a stool, and banged her head against her desk. The medical staff were busy with a couple of marines who'd been walking across a bridge when it had collasped. One of the doctors brushed by Kate to get some gloves. Half a second later, he did a double take after noticing Kate's wound. "How did you get hurt, Captain Vaughn?" "I slipped on a banana peel." "Really?" his eyebrows raised with curiosity. "No. I accidently banged against my desk. Do I need stiches? Cause I really want to go enjoy my day off and not sit hear forever." "I'll have a nurse check you out in a few minutes."And then he strode off, continuing his task as if he hadn't even stopped. Half an hour later, Kate was out of the infirmary with a bandage on her forehead. She'd got two stitches and the doctor had told her take in easy.
