Well, it was inevitable. I am ashamed to say that I haven't played FFVII. Though, out of the ones I have played, I would say that 10 is my favourite. Probably because I played it the most recently. I like how you could switch your characters in battle, which meant you could use everyone and made it easier to train your party. Music was good, story was good, graphics were good too. |

Damn, FFXII would've won this one so easily if it weren't for those stupid politics over romance. I'm going to pick with FFX, the mini-game Blitzball alone would have a huge rating(except for those "don't know how to play haters"). It boosted the rating of the PS2 console in the earlier stages by a huge amount along with GT3(Gran Turismo). Which of the bagillion FF's do you hold most dear? FFX If your house was being eaten by a giant geezard, which of these games would you save? FFX |

It's nothing to be ashamed of, while the game isn't that bad, it's far from as good as fanboys, spinoffs etc suggest. In massive, massive forums FFVII always wins this poll, and Cloud & Sephiroth always win the best hero/bad guy awards respectively, I think that is just bull shit. /FFVII rantAnyway, like I said I don't hate FFVII - but I don't find it anything to jump out of my skin for either. Now, as for my favs, it's really a coin toss between FFVIII & FFX. FFVIII was the first PSX game to really give me the 'wow' factor graphically; the FMV's in the game were outstanding. I remember watching the Seifer/Squall dual and my eyes were popping out to how excellent it was. Then deeper in the game it provided so many unique RPG traits, getting a wage as opposed to the stupid theory of every monster having money. You upgraded your weapons rather then buying and selling all the time. All that added with a unique Draw system and decent enough story. FFX on the other hand yet again just grabbed my attention with outstanding graphics and FMV's. The opening Blitzball > Sin scene was so awesome and hooked me right at the beginning. While Tidas annoyed the crap out of me having the wise and mysterious Auron around, and even Kimahri with his classic one line "Kimahri think Rikku should stay Rikku" is just made of win. A story comparable with a movie pretty much. Then look at the battle system, interchangeable characters and controllable Aeons are just yet again made of win. So many things just worked right, as well as things we haven't seen before all in this one game. Damn I love both of them, both also have some of the best mini-games ever seen in Blitzball & Triple Triad...eh I want to pick both. I'll vote FFVIII since you two were kind enough to vote FFX.

I'm odd. My favorite is Final Fantasy IX. Things I like about it- 1.) Apparently, many boss and enemy moves vary depending on what level you're at and what your stats are. This allows you to beat the whole game and all the secret bosses at level 1 (no joke; check out youtube vids for more information). I haven't tried this, but I have beaten it at low levels before. I played through it maybe 3 times, because I just loved the storyline, music and so on. I also played it multiple times because the first time I played it, I was kind of new to roleplaying video games and didn't really understand it that well (though I did like it). 2.) Vivi is made of win, the other characters (Zidane and Steiner in particular) are funny as well. Quina...has to be the most random character I've ever seen in an RPG, aside from perhaps some of the characters in Chrono Cross. He/She/It is great as well. In general, the characters are pretty good. The only one I don't really think was that great is Armarant. He joins you last, and doesn't really have any amazing discerning qualities. He's just kind of there. 3.) The music is epic. 4.) The ATB battle system is pretty good. 5.) There are loads of mini-games. I liked this about Final Fantasy X too.6.) Given that it's a Playstation (1) game, the graphics are fantastic. They're better than the ones in Chrono Cross, and most other Playstation games. Edited by Slick, Feb 10 2008, 11:04 PM.

All that on FFIX and no Beatrix Slick? :/ I thought she was the best thing in the game! Although Vivi was a pretty cool character from it as well, just for me something about that game just didn't sit with me. Maybe it's move back to a more un-realistic style put me off. |

FF IX and FFT: War of Lions for me. FF IX is the first Final Fantasy I played. I love everything about it, include Quina. The stotyline is great, characters are amazing, and it's so fun to level up. I'm kinda speechless about that game, it's just so good one to me, I can play it over again and again. FFT: War of Lions is beyond my exception, much better than the origional. The script is excellence, it cover up every flaws in the origional, it help me understand the storyline clearly, that changed my veiw of Ramza, Delita and many other minor characters. Two new jobs is worth to get after completed some jobs, and I like mostly of abilities got rename. FMV cutscenes are awesome, you can watch it in event option again and again. I have some goals for this game that I want to completed, is to master every jobs and get every rare items by play with my best friend in multiplayer modes, it's so fun, but it's worth to get all of items in my collection. |

That one part of the game where you played Steiner and her (and had to rip through myst creatures) was pretty cool. I kind of liked the beginning, where you had different sets of characters as opposed to the whole team, better in general. Edited by Slick, Feb 20 2008, 05:40 PM.

I'm starting to like VIII the best, even though I haven't played much of it. X is fun, too, though I absolutely hate playing Blitz Ball. The cut scenes are very well done, and the characters have normal personalities. Yes, Tidus is annoying as heck, but he's a good fighter when it comes to battling. Auron's a tank once he's all leveled up and stuff, and Lulu's awesome when it comes to black magic. I think the only part I hated in the game was having to fight Yunalesca (sp?). That was such a pain, not to mention the giant head was freaky looking. X-2 was okay. I really liked the whole dress spheres, though a lot of them were really slutty which I didn't like. Out of all of their thief outfits, Rikku's is the most practical. I haven't played VII yet, though we've owned it for years. I dunno, it doesn't really catch my attention as much as VIII does. |

Now I've played Crisis Core I'd rate it as one of my top 3 FF titles actually. After FFVIII & FFX which I previously stated. |

Yah it is! You should play them all!! I don't have a strong favorite but I'm gonna go with XII today. Dunno why a lot of people HATE it exactly but their reasons are usually pretty weak. Why do I like it? - No cheesy romance, not even suggestively. Some people seem to think there's a Vann/Ashe thing but I don't see it myself. - Liked the story (isn't that meant to be the most important thing in a story game? >_>) - Great bad guys (I love the Judges!) - Wonderful voice acting - fast and fun battles (imo) - Good graphics/style - Liked all the characters (Although I think Penalo could have done with some more development). This is the only FF where I liked all the characters to this extent. - fantastic music I could go on ![]() Edited by Gumdrop, Apr 18 2009, 04:18 AM.

Heh, I'm actually half way through playing FFVII at the moment ![]() I enjoyed the graphics of FFXII but you're right in saying the story is the most important thing. The story seemed to me like Lord of the Rings vs. Star Wars, both of which bore me to death so to have them both in the one story, well that's just a recipe for fun isn't it? Having said that I haven't played a great deal of it. I couldn't bring myself to play more than about 40 minutes of it (I think...) and the really long winded and chunky backstory at the beginning (poor storytelling) didn't help to engage me in the story either. I can't remember what the gameplay was like because it was a while back, but I think I remember having some complaints including having to 'learn' equipment. Although, I might go back and replay it again sometime just to see if I can get into it a bit more. |

FFXII. I liked the battle system, because it granted much more freedom than turn based ones. Although, so many people hate it for some unfathomable reason. It did receive a 40/40 score form Famitsu, so you know it's good. |

Eh, well each to their own I suppose. But I felt FFXII was just terrible, it's story was rather un-FF like. The Battle System was trash to me, it felt like it was lost inbetween action and turn based. I feel that games such as Valkyrie Profile 2 & Eternal Sonata offer far superior hybrid battle systems then it. Gambits just made the game even worse (while clever) it just killed any challenge in the game. I wonder how much S-E paid Famitsu off for that absurd rating! I know others love it, which is fine, but I just couldn't get into this one at all. Give me FFVIII, FFX, Crisis Core etc over it any day of the week. |

Haha! I think the Gambits made the game more fun. And it was less trouble! I left the game there for an hour, and when I looked back, the Hell Wyrm was already near death. Seriously, you could go take a bath and come back without dying!
