Out of the wide library of RPGs available, which of them are your favourites? Whether they are tri-Ace or not, post your favourites here and what you like so much about them. |

I have so many which makes this difficult...here goes. 1) Phantasy Star IV (Genesis/Many) - Since this was the first genuine RPG I played it's quite possible I'm biased considering it the best, although even today I still can happy put in the Genesis classics and play it. Outstanding story, the tragic events of Alys, the quite mysterious Zio, with a nice yet simple battle system which some awesome combinations attacks among others made it a true stand out to me. 2) Suikoden V (PS2) - After a rather disappointing IV & Tactics this went back to traditional ways, and in magnificent style. It moved back towards the eras of early characters, such as Georg & Lorelai and put it into life for a fantastic story with improved battles and unique characters such as Kyle, for an enjoyable story it's hard to top. 3) Star Ocean: Till the End of Time (PS2) - The gameplay for this RPG is amazing, the fast action style, yet elimination of button bashing for a timing system is quite superb – perhaps inspired partially by Valkyrie Profile. But nevertheless, I’ve not enjoyed a battle system alone in an RPG more then this, and with incredibly addictive Battle Trophies and additional. Difficulties you can literally play it forever, the story is not that bad either. 4) Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance (GCN) - Probably the best tactical style RPG out there, the first of the Fire Emblems to move to console done the job in excellent style. Adding in a few sweet FMV’s and even better looking graphics to the perfect Fire Emblem formula is simply win, the weapon creation abilities in between battles was a great new feature as well. 5) Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth (PSX/PSP) – After playing this on PSP it’s hard to believe it was originally created before 2000. The timing battle system is almost perfect, I really can’t fault it. Add that with an active environment free of random battles and a very unique storyline it’s hard not to fall in love with it. Others like Tales of Eternia, Symphonia, FFVIII & FFX, Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria, Fire Emblem (7), Grandia II...yeah a heap could have made that list really. I have enjoyed many RPGs in my time.

Star Ocean: The Second Story/Second Evolution. Radiata Stories. Final Fantasy VII. Final Fantasy II. Final Fantasy I. I like them all because of the story and the extras and everything. Especially the unlockables in RS and SO:SE, and the way of status enhancing in FFII. FFII, IMO, is an underappreciated game. |

Wow, you're the first person I've seen that's played FFI. I wasn't even sure it existed until I saw a little bit of it on an emulator or something. It looks a bit like Pokemon

King's Field 2 and 3 Final Fantasy 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 Breath of Fire 3 Vagrant Story Legend of the Dragoon Star Ocean 2 Xenosaga Suikoden 1, 2, and 3 Chrono Trigger/Cross Legends of Legaia Wild Arms 2 and 3 Lunar 1 and 2 Shining Force 1 and 3 Fire Emblem series Brigandine There's quite a bit of RPGs that I like and consider them to be my favorites. They are in no particular order, I kind of just like them all equally, they all are pretty amazing and have given me a good experience but there's some I play more than the other. There are more that I played and liked but I can't remember them and that's probably because I didn't find them as interesting as the ones I mentioned. Also there's some good ones out there that I have yet to play like Persona 3. I heard that was really good but I haven't played it yet. It's a shame that alot of those games have stopped production and aren't going to make any sequels or prequels like Legend of the Dragoon and Lunar. Sad that the good ones end way too soon but they always remain timeless because you cherish them and hold them sacred within yourself because they were that good of a game. I have it on GBA! I didn't finish it though, it just didn't really interest me... There are several I enjoy, although yes the Shining Force series! The first, and second in particular I found to be most enjoyable, it's so damn awesome that it's on the Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection, I can relive playing it again after so many years! Also, after playing the two Dragon Quest remakes on DS they are worthy of addition onto my list of fav RPG's as well. |

Oh it was on GBA? That's probably why I came across it.
Woo! ..sorry, had to do that. Legend of Legaia is another obscure one that I've actually played! I can't remember much of it but I think it was pretty good. It's got FF7ish graphics, but it's not bad. I liked the battle system of making your own attacks using button combinations. |

With the exception of Star Ocean games, I like the Valkyrie Profile series the most. After that, it would have to be Infinite Undiscovery, followed closely by Radiata Stories. If I don't count tri-Ace, my favorite would have to be Final Fantasy. I've played I, II, IV, V, VI, IX, X, X-2, XII, Crisis Core, Tactics, Tactics Advance, Tactis: War of the Lions, Crystal Chronicles, and only a little of Dirge of Cerberus. My favorite is FFXII, despite the numerous complaints people have about the game. My second favorite is FFIX, because I just love the story, characters, and the game itself. The others are ranked in no particular order, but Dirge of Cerberus was a bad game for me. I also enjoy the Tales series. Of course, I haven't played a lot of there games: only Tales of Phantasia and Tales of the Abyss. However, I love the similarities that it shares with Star Ocean. And yes, I know why that is so: people who worked to make the Tales series went off and created tri-Ace, so the games bear tons of similarities. |

Well, my library isn't very thick, but I do really enjoy the Kingdom Hearts series. It's just a kind of thing I always enjoyed. Of course, the first is my favorite, and none of the later titles were able to top it. Despite what you say Fate, I enjoyed Chain of Memories. |

Oh, I forgot about Kingdom Hearts. It's a great game series, even though it can be really childish at times, and it provides so much more freedom. After all, it is a real time action RPG. I liked the second one the best, and I hated how the first couldn't enable scene skipping. Oh, and I liked Chain of Memories, but the card system was beyond stupid. |

And I mean that I liked the card system! Haha! Yes, I used it to my advantage! Anyway, I consider the second game to be second best in my book. The first will always be the best! |

I also like the Golden Sun games. However, I think the cliffhanger in the first game was disappointing, since people had to wait and buy the second game to know how it turns out. And I heard that another one is coming out for the DS. |

What else? I do like the Chrono series... even though there's only two games... Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross, but they were still lots of fun. But... Cross's story was only told like... in the last ten minutes of the game... |

I also love the Fire Emblem game. Although I have said that I like real time and full time actions RPGs more, the Fire Emblem games are so much fun! They require strategy, something I'm decent at, and its way of battling is much more interesting. |

The Fire Emblem games are outstanding, probably the best of all tactical RPG's out there. Their formula's and mechanics are rather simple, but they work so effectively. If tactical RPG's are your thing all of them are must plays. I've played 4 of them to date (2 GBA, 1 GCN, 1 Wii), and I'll probably end up with the DS one next. |

My only complaint about the game is that when allies die, you party completely forgets about them and moves on their merry way... |

That's the ultimate challenge of the game though, to avoid any deaths. Put your tanks in the front lines and support/ranger units at the back. It's the type of game you have to be in the mood to play though I find, you can't casually pick it up and play otherwise you'll overlook things and find yourself in real trouble before long. |

Yeah, and I later learned the game is split into four stories... it's like four times the pain. |
