Discuss anything relating to the Kingdom Hearts game.

Do you have a fav game, fav world, support characters etc?

Finally a Kingdom Hearts topic, way to go Fayt!
I've only played the top three, and I am definitely going to go with KH2.
C.O.M. lacked WAY too much graphics being a GBA game(the PS2 ver. never made it to AUS. THANKS A LOT EBGAMES.AU >=( -is unhappy-)
KH1 had the lead, until those cheap keyblade forms blew me away, they just added so much more combos/enjoyment to the game overall.
Favourite Game: KH2
Favourite World: Hollow Bastion(one of the best game OST EVER)
Favourite Character: Sora(go Final Form!)
Favourite Support Character: Ariel(she's cute =P)

Your thoughts?

The thing I hated about Kingdom Hearts II is that they took out the dodge roll. By doing that, it made it so that battles were just mash square a bunch of times. Because they made attacks quicker, it also limited the game.

I think in general, they need to improve magic in Kingdom Hearts. In the first game, magic sucked, excluding cure and aero spells. In the second game, magic was slightly better, but you never needed to use it. It would be nice if they actually made magic worth using, and gave you the option to pull off magic combos or something that were as good or better than normal hack and slash.

Kingdom Heart II's Timeless River world was made of win. :P

I agree with the missing dodge roll from the first Kingdom Hearts.
It made boss fights a lot easier and evading strong attacks is very easy.
I also agree with how magics were bad, or at least very weak to not necessarily worth using.
Normal attack > Magics(with exception from those cunning elemental shadows).
The "Timeless River" map in KH2 at first confused me.
I thought my TV broke down and went black and white, but then I realised it's just the world itself. =P

Overall I think KH2 is better, in terms of story, graphical improvements, Gummi Ship etc also having Auron as one of the cameo FF characters and also on your side for a while was a big plus for me, Auron > Most other FF characters. Although the Reaction Commands annoyed the hell out of me, while they looked great and all they made the game quite easy. At times you just know a Reaction Command is coming so you end up beating the crap out of Triangle until it happens. To get such an advantage from something so simple is pretty lame.

I loathed CoM, graphically it’s clearly inferior, granted we are comparing PS2 to GBA. But I didn't like having no allies and the whole card system either. Simply too much changed from the PS2 version and I didn't like it as a result.

KH2 >> KH >>>>> KH:CoM

Heh. I got confused at first too, but then I realized it was like the really old Disney cartoons.

I just liked fighting the Pete boss, mainly. I thought it was hilarious how he'd keep changing the scenery. The missions you had to do were also silly. :P

Yeah, the cameos in Kingdom Hearts II were better in general. Pride Rock was pretty awesome, for instance because Simba just ripped through everything. And, of course, Auron was cool. Since FFX was one of the few FFs I played, I appreciated his appearance. I would have liked Vivi a lot more too, if they hadn't made his voice annoying and basically turned him into an evil dude/heartless clone or whatever the heck he was. >_>

I actually liked the reaction commands...but yeah, sometimes they could get a little bit cheap, or else annoying. And yeah, when you had reaction combos, you could just keep mashing triangle. It kind of took the skill out of the game. They should have had some timing feature going, where you had to press certain buttons as the lined up with the screen (think Dance Dance Revolution  ). I guess the game would be harder if I actually played it with my DDR pad. Then I'd probably have to get timing down a lot better.

I have to say that the final boss in Kingdom Hearts II was way better than the one in Kingdom Hearts I. The part where you had to deflect lasers was made of win. My arm got so tired after doing that....

Oh, I love the Kingdom Hearts series. The game gives you so much freedom in terms of the battle system. It was full time, and you could go anywhere you wanted, fighting only enemies that you wanted to. My favorite is undoubtedly Kingdom Hearts II. I felt Sora was more mature in that game, since in the first game, he was just annoying. Plus, the game had more things to do. I hated the card system in Chain of Memories. I mean, it was despising! Whoever created that thing should be fired! I bet it's the same person responsible for Myuria's crappy AI!

While I'll agree KH2 was more fun, KH1 will always be the best to me. It had a charm the second game lacked. The way the villains came together was interesting, it made it seem less like a Squeenix game and more like something never seen before...

I can beat Fate easily in anything!
I loved the addition of forms in Kingdom hearts 2 and the limits just made it sweeter and I agree with Ralz.

You're contradicting yourself there. You said great things about KH2, yet you agree with the fact that Ralz think KH1 was better! :P

I LOVED the forms in KH2, especially Final Form. Oh, you can decimate enemies with that.

EVERYONE loves Final Form. It's like as soon as you get it, everything else becomes obsolete. Well, I still enjoy Master Form. But, I don't feel Sora was annoying in the first game, Fate. I mean, consider he's just some kid who got dragged into this entire thing. The one in the second game seems... duller to me.

He seemed more mature and independent in the second game. But for some reason, he has the exact same goal in every single game. It's always him trying to find his lost friends.

Anti Forum was also very interesting. If you cheat, it becomes an available form by itself.

Yeah, sure he learned to grow up a little more, but he seemed to be more playful than the first game. However, I was a little disappointed in KH2, because it lost it majestic quality and started resembling a Squeenix game again. In my opinion, the forms made the game a little too easy, because Final Form turns you into a god, you can Glide over everything, and finally... it just feels easier. I missed the challenge from the first game. Oh yeah, and Maleficent became like a Saturday morning cartoon villain.

Re: Chain of Memories is a good game, but I find myself struggling in Proud Mode. :wtf: Kingdom Hearts II was overkill with the Drives and Limits but it still looked awesome.
