Okay, so this interview is with Journey's creative director but even if you're not a fan (or even remotely interested in the game) it's a pretty damn decent read.

Chen talks about how he believes games make many of us act like assholes online, and why people act the way they do.

I'm not sure if I can agree that it's the games to blame, since there are people who aren't assholes at all in online gaming, but it's still interesting stuff. That part on getting the strongest 'feedback' especially.

Can't wait to see more online games from him.

Thoughts?

Interesting read. It's refreshing to hear about the positive aspects of human interaction. I sort of agree that -some- games can make the worst in us come out, but there's exceptions to every rule, even if they are few and far between.

I like the idea of games making the player feel something other than competitiveness/violence as a driving force to complete whatever objective is at hand, which is probably why I love Okami so much. You don't level up by beating the bad guys. You do it by restoring the world to it's beautiful self, and by helping people out.

I love Thatgamecompany. I also hope that their next project will be as brilliant and emotive as the previous ones.

Strange how many things reward us for going around killing everything, but you never really think about, huh?
