I also think we'd need to keep a log on whos name changed to what, because that can get rather confusing, especially with people switching names every 3 months. It may be uncommon for now, but once this place grows, there are people out there who like to do that sort of thing (heck, there is a guy who I swear switches his name every other chance he gets on my forums), so it can get rather...puzzling sorting who is who now out. |

I guess you don't know Zetaboards that well? In your profile it will automatically track any name changes you make via the "Name History" Click this link for an example > http://s1.zetaboards.com/Star_Ocean_Universe/stats/name_hist/213529/ Edited by Fayt, Jan 3 2009, 05:10 PM.

Never had Zeta! Master of IPB, though. Haha. Must be great feature, well this makes things so easier! I love this already. This really will be easy breezy if they make things this simple for foruming now. |

Zetaboards is pretty innovative in the world of free forums, for not paying a cent we get a hell of a lot. There is not much to complain about with this service. We can make themes fairly easily, have a classy unique PM system, avatar galleries, easy name change system, even join-able groups...not that I've used them before. And of course the usual forum stuff too, you might enjoy learning what this has to offer! |

Well here are my suggestions: 1. Change the Main site template cause it looks really noob . 2. Make a web page and add the Cbox into it cause the Cbox now is ruining the forum to me. 3.Advertise this on other websites for example : www.forums.inldropstyles.com . 4. Have a section for game OSTs or something cause that might bring more members. Those are mine for now.

1) We are already working on moving to a new host, our current one doesn't allow us much more then what you can see right now. Decus our fellow admin was leading the project to a new site, unfortunately she is on low internet at the moment so plans there have been deyaled. It is still on the radar though down the track. 2) Don't like the Shoutbox? The SOU theme on the forum has it isolated to a link in the sub-menu bar instead, do you think it looks better away from the index? 3) We have advertised a bit - on other forums and topsites etc. There is always room for further advertising though, sure. 4) Actually, we were working on Member's Only content a little while ago, that is certainly a possibility to have things like that available to help get members in the future, such as OST's and renders. Quark was doing a bit with that, we'll have to see what he thinks there and whether we can get something up soon. Thanks for the suggestions.

Oh, I like the background in particular there. I have no problems with adding more skins. ![]() One concern though, the area for the heading seems to be stretched towards the right, putting the whole alignment out. Also, will there be a button set to go with it, or will it just feed of the ZetaBoards standard ones? |

As long as it has the most common images then it should be fine, when you sort that banner thing out I'll be happy to add it here.

I'm back now! Got a couple jobs working in the graphicks industry for commercial games, plus an outside job at a steakhouse. I think I'm good to go now. I also started my own Star Ocean forum/site dedicated to God's Ten Wise Men. Would like to know if we can affiliate each other, maybe get some traffick here and there are everywhere. I'll try to start back on getting that website layout. The domain is still yours of course: www.staroceanuniverse.com I believe it was. I'll renew it as soon as it goes out, but it has quite a while before that happens. If we can get some good web designers over here that'd be great. Mine are super extra lazy...they tick me off. Hah. Anyhow, if you wanna affiliate with me or any of my friends' SO sites just say so and we can start us a little Star Ocean ring of communities here. In fact I think I'll go start a webring somewhere just for Star Ocean fansites like this one and mine and Chinchilla's upcoming website and all of that. Also, I am coming across some rare Star ocean merch like 4Koma manga and all of that. I can do scans and place them up here. I'm hosting them on my forum for the time being, but I will gladly place them up here as well you know! Just let me know. |

So wait a minute, what was the whole point of 'merging' here for a Star Ocean site if you ended up making one anyway? That is just confusing, but whatever we can affiliate I guess. Star Ocean is the priority, and always has been the reason for this place. ![]() I've made no secret my time is ending with forums, but I figured a full merge to put everything we all had into one place would be better for a Star Ocean community overall. It seems far more logical to streamline traffic to one place rather then try fragment members into several similar communities, so I would have thought anyway. Then again I've been on the internet long enough - maybe too long to see it happen all the time. There is always so many related places with a little bit, rather then one place with a lot. It's tri-Ace's fault for not having an English official forum/site. ![]() I just hope to live to see the day where several Star Ocean fans can unite in ONE place to work together and make it the best thing on the internet, Star Ocean and tri-Ace deserve it! |

I agree vBulletin is way better, but it comes at a price where as Zetaboards is free. If this place ever did get more active then I'd consider it, but while we are semi-active the free Zetaboards does the job we need for now.

Fayt, can the shoutbox be upgraded, or it is not able to be upgraded? You can only post 60 times in an hour, and since it's quite possibly the quickest means of communication between members, that's sort of unfair. Can it be upgraded? |

60 posts an hour, really? I guess the Shoutbox has never been active enough before to encounter that problem. Or no-one has mentioned it before. I'll look into it further but I imagine only payment will secure an upgraded form to avoid that problem, if we wanted to get by that I'd probably just replace it with C-box. I've used C-box before and it surely doesn't have such a problem. Ideally Zetaboards would just launch their official one, imbedded in the forum and I wouldn't have to use a 3rd party one. One is on the cards, but it's taken longer then I expected, sadly. In a nut shell, if we keep having that problem of hitting the limit I might just remove it for C-box, it would mean the current posts would all have to go though. |

Can't we just make a spam thread to erase the need for a shoutbox all together? Spam is not allowed, but most forums do have a spam thread. It provides a place of relief for members to discuss just about anything that they wish to. The only thing is that some people use it solely to increase post count, meaning we'd need to throw it into the Light Entertainment Zone forum, right? Once the shoutbox gets filled out, we can just post there to continue our conversation. Plus, nobody wants to just talk about gaming all the time, either. It's good to have a place where you can discuss anything at all. The only problem I see with it is that the server might be jammed due to the excessive posting that could go on in there. But surely, it'll get people to actually post on the forum, even if their posts are just spam. It still beats a dead forum without spam, right? Edited by Fate, Jul 20 2009, 10:46 AM.

Yeah, a random chatter thread in the LE area sounds like a good idea. It's crazy the kinds of discussions that can come up in threads like that, sounds like fun. Personally I'd prefer something like that over a Shoutbox actually. |

Having more members? Advertise to get more members? There aren't a lot of users online when I am on, but it would be nice if this forum board could grow bigger. Other then that, I am really proud of all the hard work you guys put into this, so I raise my hat and I smile to you cause you are doing such a great job

Thanks Ronyx, and I agree, it would be nice if there were more active members here. It seems to be a little more difficult to find Star Ocean fans then it is fans for other games, but I'll try advertise a little more where possible in the future.

Sir, I have a request from Ralz, Vivi, and myself. It seems shoutbox impersonation has been going on again, and this time, none of use can stand it anymore. We try to ignore it, but it's too much. There's nothing we can do about it. All we could do is go post in General Chat instead. So, that thing is not even the least bit trustworthy. Could you perhaps get rid of it all together, so that no more impersonation can continue? The three of us are sick and tired of it. Thank you, sir. |
