Thought for the graphics area. Maybe have a tips and tricks sub forum/topic. It'll allow others to share what they've learned or found out with experiment. It'll also help others get better. Just a thought. |

1) No offense to who ever created it but everything on this forum looks nice apart from the banner and the banner is the most important graphic! It looks vaguely blurry all over the background and one or two of the renders used look a bit low quality. The text also looks bitty and doesn't stand out enough for banner text + I think having the link when its such a long one in the banner looks a bit "meh". Again sorry if I offend anyone but that's what I thought when I first saw this place. 2) Images in every forum category on the main index seems to make it slightly confusing for your eyes to know where to looks first. 3) its worth getting a cheap domain name and pointing it at the site and/or forums since people will remember it more easily and also it'll make a lot of people take the site more seriously because to them it makes you look as though your more serious about the site. It'll also fool some people into thinking it isn't a free place and yeah..some people just won't register if they think its free for some reason >_> http://www.fasthosts.co.uk/domains/features-pricing/ a .co.uk is only £2.65 for 100 years. 4) The text is tiny in the Frostee skin! A tiny bit hard to read too. Those are just my suggestions :p Edited by Gumdrop, Sep 23 2008, 07:58 PM.

That banner is crap, I agree. ![]() All of us mods could make something way better then that, but well to be honest never got around to it. This place has been so quiet for a while so stuff like that never got done. I'm all for a new banner though, in fact, I think you were considering making a new one weren't you Quarky? I was thinking of changing that ages ago and made an alternative, but I don't think it was much better. When I made that banner I was pretty new with GFX...I think I'm a fair bit better now as opposed to then. And Quarky could eat me for breakfast with his GFX skills too. ![]() I can't do much about the Frostee skin though, I didn't make it so I really can't edit it. I just use the Ice Blue one all the time myself. ![]() And well, I don't think the place is active enough to get a domain. And even much larger forums survive well enough without them, I admin another active one with over 10,000 members and it's just an old InvisionFree URL.

1. Domain name 2. Advertise the site 3. When I click forums from the homepage, it brings up a new browser. Could you fix that? 4. Make Star Ocean Universe logo avatars and signatures for people to use on other sites. 5. On your tri-Ace tab it says that SO4 is for the PS3, and that information would be wrong. (Xbox 360) 6. Get permission from people to use their FAQs from gamefaqs.com. That way people could check here for walkthroughs. 7. Make a timeline of the SO world. On gamefaqs there is a faq that had every date from birth dates to the dates of different wars. It would take alot of work, but it would be worth it. 8. Make SO:FD avatars with the new names such as Roddick and Ronyx. Incase people like the localized names better. 9. Game scripts. 10. Gallery section with pictures of anything. Possible user submit option, obviously you'd have to OK it before it gets posted. (porn) Just a few ideas. |

The domain name's not happening anytime soon. I've fixed all those site errors. The image opens the forums up in the same window, but the navbar doesn't want to change. You'd have to run all those content suggestions by Fayt. Also, by "Star Ocean Universe logo avatars and signatures" do you mean like, promotional stuff or just normal avatars and sigs on the site for people to use? |

Well firstly, this forum was pretty in early 08, and started in 2007. Back then all of us as staff had more time to manage it and post content. Since then I've become an admin of another forum at [ KOEI Warriors ]. Roger has since become a GM there as well. It's a much busier site where most of our time is focused now. They are two major reasons why this place is not that well maintained anymore, I'd still like to keep it alive but it's no secret the place is pretty quiet. Of late we do the occasional update and really just hang out here. Although I guess we could always have another shot at getting it up to speed, we should all have a bit more free time over the coming Christmas holiday period after all. Anyway, the suggestions. 1) Unless the site was upgraded to be able to handle much more content I wouldn't get one, and that cost would be $99.95 and I'd need more time to maintain it. Both are not on the radar at the moment. 2) It's been a while since we advertised, we could always push that again. 3) When I click forums I don't get a new browser come up, I'm using Firefox 3 btw. 4) Similar to [ this ] you mean? We have a few like that Quark made a while ago. 5) Did it? LOL I wrote that ages ago when that is where the speculation pointed. But it seems Quark fixed that already, it says Xbox 360 now. 6) If people want to post their FAQs here they can be my guest. I can make more guide sections if we had some contributions to fill them. 7) A lot of work eh, I don't really have time for that right now. 8) Sounds minor...but maybe. 9) Why? They would take forever to be original, or they would just look stolen from others at GameFAQs. 10) Pictures of anything would be quite pointless considering this is supposed to be about tri-Ace only. Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm a game developer and have my own domain...I was thinking about starting up my own Star Ocean site: Star Ocean Forever, and having it become the biggest informative archive online for the series, as it is my favourite. For an extra $10 per domain a year, I can get unlimited domains added to my host. If someone wants to make use of that, just give me the word. I will require a bit of help, however. With a Star Ocean fan game in production, plus other game projects on the side, I can only devote so much time into filling the sections, but I am willing to do so if I have enough members to help me run the site. In other words, I'd give you a domain for FREE (I'll pay the extra $10 a year no problem) as long as I am allowed to work alongside administrators to create the website, as well as be able to link back to EkIchiGames main site on the page. I really would like to create this if you would lend me a hand and merge with me and my folks. We get much traffick because we release games and such, so we're pretty much spreading across the internet like a disease, so you'll be taking lots of hits from visitors. It's bothered me for a good, long while that I have not been able to find a completely filled, up-to-date website dedicated to the Star Ocean series. I say our time to act is now. With Fallen Angels in production and 'The Last Hope' about to hit, not to mention 'Second Evolution', I feel that the interest in the series is about to spread like wildfire. So getting the attention we need will be no problem at all. Just give me the word and I'll go about settingup that domain. I can try to transfer the forums over as well so it will be something akin to - www.(our star ocean site name).com/forum. Well, what do you say? |

I agree, which is why I tried to create the "Star Ocean Universe", sadly, time constraints and other commitments have held back my ability to really push this place to the limits. Myself and Quark still update here from time to time and are proud of what we have, but no doubt this place could be much better and it's tough to achieve. So you have plans to release a Star Ocean website as well? How much depth/resources do you (and others that help you) have to achieve it? I'm not too fussed over a domain at this stage, but if your main goal is to try get more Star Ocean fans to see your fan game I'm happy to put up something on the main site here for it. |

A few of my friends and I are Star Ocean Gurus. Haha. Mainly with knowlege on SO2 and the Ten Wise Men. The host I pull through gives you unlimited bandwidth, umlimited subdomains, unlimited storage...the only thing I can say it lacks is ffmpeg, which is essential to create video streaming uploads (say you wanted to make a place like YouTube or somethimg, which we are eventually going to do as well). I have one of the largest banks of Ten Wise Men fanart known on the net, pulled from my friend and I both through years of collecting. I have other SO art as well, including official arts. My art collection mainly ends at SO2, though, so not much for the other games. My MAIN goal was to set up the largest Star Ocean info source online, complete with a gallery, walkthroughs, FAQs, screens, up to date info on releases and news, archives with details on every character, place, enemy, weapon, items, etc. Basically I wanted a website to where someone could go 'hmmm, Star ocean, huh?' and look through it to know everything there is to know. Or if they know the series, have a place where they could reference information for a project, fanfiction, artwork, other things, etc. Having more people know of SOFA is a plus, but even that game is made to help increase the Star Ocean fandom. |

Well with this "Star Ocean" resource site, will that be Star Ocean only, or everything tri-Ace? How would things here clash with it, if at all. Would we become affiliates, help each other or just we do what we do, and you do whatever you do with the new proposed site? While this place ain't massive I'm still wary for it's welfare, although ultimately I'd like to see a massive Star Ocean/tri-Ace fan site available for everyone. This place scratches the surface, but I've love to see even more. tri-Ace are worthy of a massive fan site, something like KOEI Warriors to KOEI games, where I'm also fortunate enough to be a part of as well. Sadly though, we don't have anywhere near the resources here at SOU as the likes of KW, it's really only myself and Quark that manage the site here, and we both have time constraints. Anyway, as for my best area you'd probably notice pretty quick I've done more here on Till the End of Time more then anything else. It was my first Star Ocean title and I fell completely in love with it, only to play even more tri-Ace games thereafter...and ended up here. |

I was mainly going to focus it all on Star Ocean (the entire series), maybe have a small section for other Tri-Ace installments (they are my favourite game dev company after all) on the site, but the bulk of information I'd make completely on Star Ocean series. I was asking if you'd like to merge, not affiliate, as in...we call it Star Ocean Universe, but have me and my friends be able to fill it more with our knowlege, plus do research and write-ups to fill it even more even if it means us playing through the games again to get all of the details. I'd move everything over to the main host (so it would be www.(star ocean whatever).com), and then I could shift these forums to be (www.(star ocean our site name).com/forum). In other words I'm mainly just lending my services for the sake of Star Ocean. I just wanted someone to help me get a start and let me update to my heart's content, because I like places that update frequently. I guess simply, I'd like to contribute my wealth of knowlege, fanarts, time, and energy into making it a more professional and user-friendly website and forum base with it's own domain. I'd like there to be a Fallen Angels and SpherEternity section as well, eventually, but I'm not even interested in that at the moment. I just want help building a gigantic info-source for Star Ocean. I'd do my best to update every day and add things. I have nothing else better to do (besides make games). I have web developers, artists, graphic designers, 3D modelers, etc. at my disposal. I'm sure with a bit of prodding they'd do things to aid it as well. Edited by Decus, Dec 30 2008, 04:53 PM.

Do we have a specific forum to roleplay in here? Just wondering, or is that all done via the Forum Fun section? I have DMed forum roleplays for a very long time and was thinking of possibly starting a Star Ocean related roleplay in here. |

I can make a roleplay section if you like. A roleplay would be pretty cool, just neither of the current staff are roleplayers so we wouldn't be able to create one, and that's why there is no forum as yet. |

I don't know if I'd really have time for a Roleplay though to be honest, I'm pushing it enough to manage to sites at the moment. Anyway, I'll make a Roleplay forum now and you can try create something there. I'll even give you mod tools there to pin stuff or whatever if you need to. |

Are members allowed to change their own usernames here? If only admins can do this, we may possibly make a 'Change Name' thread for those who want a name change. This will have minimum requirements to do so. We also may want to make a sort of 'premium user' category that are allowed to access other parts of the boards and whatnot. Most larger forums do this, especially if they have things to offer on the hidden boards like more privileges. Another thing is a possible reorganization of the spaces. If this is primarily a Star Ocean Board, Star Ocean needs a wider category, and the others can be placed in smaller ones. That way the Star Ocean boards can take up a nicer chunk of the forums. I see a 'fanart graphicks' section, but no other place to put creative things like Fanfictions/Poetry, AMVs...a section for these would be very nice as well. Just some suggestions. |

Yeah, you request it in your preference options. From there an admin can approve it via the Admin CP. We never added guidelines for it since it was uncommon. But I guess if there were to be any they could be something like: - No more then 1 name change every 3 months. - 25 characters or less (to stop stretching) - No excessive profanity in the name. |
