Of the two Valkyrie Profile titles, which of them to you prefer? The original Valkyrie Profile, now remade as Lenneth or Silmeria the more recent title to the series? Both are similar while quite different in many areas, do you prefer one of them to the other? |

I voted for Silmeria, I like it just a little bit more. Probably because it was the first game I played And I really love the graphics and the characters (but the battle system was quite tough at the beginning).

I haven't voted here myself yet either! For me it's so damn hard to decide, both games are quite different and excellent in their own right. Lenneth offers far more unique value and elements to the game. But of course VP2 extends of the story magnificently and benefits from more detail and a more advanced battle system. I voted for liking them both equally in the end, if I was forced to pick just one I'd probably lean slightly to Lenneth. For kicking the series off with it's unique appeal. |

I expanded the poll to add another question, this time including the most recent title Covenant of the Plume. If you have been fortunate enough to play all three of them then vote away and post your thoughts on them all.

I've only played Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth and Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria. However, since Lenneth was a remake, I guess I could consider that as the original, too. But out of the two, Silmeria was more fun for me. It provided much more freedom in the game, especially during battle. You could move throughout the whole field, and you aren't unable to move like in Lenneth. And Lenneth seemed turn based, while Silemria seemed to be only partially turn based. Sure, if you run out of AP, you have to get attacked or move to get more, but you can kill an enemy before it attacks. Plus, the damage output is amazing. My Ehrde dealt over a million damage with just one Smashing Shot! The story of Silmeria, I felt, was superior to that of Lenneth's. Lenneth had each different Einherjar with a different story, all of which seem to be non connected and quite irrelevant to the main story. And even the main story wasn't that great: Lenneth, the Valkyrie, had to gather souls of heroes on Midgard in order to prepare Asgard for the Ragnarok. Silmeria, on the other hand, had a very interesting plot: Silmeria, the traitorous Valkyrie, had run away from her duty, going against Odin, and shared a body with a princess named Alicia. And I loved how in the end, Hrist had a change of heart, and she decided to join your party. The whole plot of divine revenge was rather enticing. For once, I actually cared about a story in a game; most games have horrible plots. Overall, I loved both of them, but I found Silmeria to be much more fun than Lenneth. But Lenneth is still an excellent game, in my opinion. Both were worth getting, and I regret nothing. |
