This is the latest game on the PS2 console, feel free to discuss about the game in general, or even request for help.

I started playing this game few months ago, unfortunately I kinda gave up on since I found the difficulty to be quite high.
I am a FF person, the new battle system in VP took a while to get used to, the savepoints which provides with full hp and mp regeneration does not exist in this game.
I found myself struggling with the very first boss encounter.
By the time I arrived at the entrance, my party was already on around half the health, using a few items for minor healing was just not enough for that boss.
I might come back to the game once I have more confidence.

Well, that's it for me, talk about your experiences with game, questions, problems, etc.

I'm currently around 6 or so hours into it and about to resume my file on it.

I'm a little surprised the Battle System is confusing you since I feel it's somewhat similar to those of FFXII. I find the key to battle is watching the enemy movement, dashing if necessary and trying to get a hit in before you enter their attack range, then just attack in a fast order to combo your attacks to try drain items and magic orbs from the enemy.

Right now in my file I'm focusing on gaining many accessories and trying various combinations to give myself some more skill supports to help me in battle. So far I'm enjoying it, I'm a little unsure as to whether it's better then Lenneth as yet, I guess only time can tell.

You'd probably love the remake as well then Lezard...Lezard too plays a strange role in the game, he does not appear as much as VP2, but under certain events you see some of his unbelievable magic and strange ways - a truly unique character that's for sure!

I'm well over 20 hours into my file now and really starting to become familiar with the Battle System and the story, it's challenging but I really love it. I'll finish a review I'm working on for it when I'm into it more, I've got so much praise to give this awesome game!

Muhahahahahahaha(tears of joy). =')
After months from purchasing this game, I've finally managed to beat the first boss.
I didn't know how to use healing items during battle until Fayt told me.
With his guidance, the Rhyno guy was no match for my R1(dash), L3(AP recovery) + constant moving around towards his back combo.
It feels great to finally beat this guy so I can at last progress through the story.
I wonder what new challenges awaits me, it's not gonna be easy, that's for sure.
Thanks for all the assistance Fayt! =)
Going to play more tonight.

Anytime man, it takes a little getting used to at the start and certainly not the easiest of RPGs, although that makes the wins and progress even more rewarding. :)

I'm up to some Dragon ruins, I believe it's right on the end of Chapter 3. The fights are getting a little tougher, but I've got plenty of quality orbs which I can help push myself exp wise and boost me in battle to help deal with it. I'm also starting to get my hands on some green equipment which seems to offer outstanding skills.

I'm 35 hours in as well mind you, although I am taking my time and revisiting old areas to see my old Einherjar and check for anything I missed (which I did an early forest...glad I found it because it was well worth it!)

Yesterday I stayed up pretty late just to get another around the game.
Before I get to fully enjoy myself with some skeleton ownage, my killing spree was short lived as I got sent to my grave by this giant spider dude(aka the second boss).
At the start the battle seemed pretty simple due to my stock of the best equips in Dipan.
When I got him down to about half the health bar, the spider started releasing some grey gas thingy which dealt massive damage.
I was low on healing items as I got carried away with equips.
I also realised my buffed up weapons weren't doing much damage as expected(around 14-25) I had no idea why, they were doing a lot more to skeletons.
Does the spider guy have a weak spot to attack?
Damn, this game is too hard! ='(

Hmm, I don't remember that "Spider Guy" in particular, does one of your mages have Fire Storm at that point? If they do I find it pretty handy to use them and have them attack first as it sends the enemy off the ground, and off guard allowing you to more easily get powerful hits in on the enemy.

Also, I'm hoping your getting used to learning/linking skills and using the ones you have to get a little boost in battle as well, if not that's something to look into too. :)

Hmm, once deep inside Dipan Castle, there's a room where there are heaps of coffins, and the spider guy is like above the ceiling.
Anyways I have no idea what "Fire Storm" is and don't know where to view that image.
Not to mention I got no clue what learning/linking skills are and do I get healing spell anytime soon?
Using items is getting costly and quite annoying. =/
Anyways, my current party is Alicia, Rufus, Jessica and Dylan. (Levels 3 3 2 3)
I've bought the four the best equips back in Dipan, and now am running low on healing items.

On a side note, this game has broken my personal record of most "game over"'s within 2 hours of gameplay of a game.
FFXII previously holds that record since I was surprised by the new system and couldn't cope with it at first.
But VP2 is just on a different level, the save points got no healing. ='(
Aside from all the difficulty, I just LOVE the sound effects of the game and hitting noises, it's one of the greats of any game I've seen.

Alicia eventually learns a Healing Spell if you want to try level her up a bit.

I'd also advice using a mage (check what spells they have via the attack menu) to give your team more balance.

I generally use a style like this.
Heavy Sword: (Dylan etc)
Light Sword: (Alicia etc)
Bow: (Rufus etc)
Mage: (Lezard etc)

Oh damn, my mage is like level 1 and almost untouched since I got the others.
And during most of the random battles, mage seems to be the slowest and takes them a long time to cast a spell.
That's why usually my other three characters finish off the skeletons before my mage finish casting.
Anyways, so there is no way around his high defence?
I also got this weapon "Crest Estoc" which is soo weak and didn't bother to use it.
What a great item to provide just before a super strong boss battle. >_>

Since your still just lv 2-3 you might just be under leveled, also play around with your equipment to try create the "Might" one or something like that which boosts your ATK to 120%, that might help you deliver more damage to deal with the enemy. Some attacks also have piece properties, so you might wanna read what attacks your characters are doing and perhaps change a couple.

There is a bit to take in during the stage of the game, I'll admit, good luck man. ;)

Edit: I've finally reached chapter 4 on the game myself, I didn't get to that level 40 which is helpful, (in fact no-where near it at around lv 25). And as much as Roger won't like to hear it the game certainly does not get any easier. The story however just gets better and better, and full of surprises. I loved the way chapter 3 ended moving into chapter 4.

Spoiler: click to toggle

Yeah, don't read that if you haven't played it yet (or up to chapter 4 yet), but I love the story, great tough gameplay, what an awesome game!

Ah, seems to be an inactive thread, it seems. I'll help resurrect it.

I have played Silmeria for almost or over eighty hours, completing it twice already. The whole game was very interesting, and I especially loved the plot. It was all about betrayal and revenge, and it actually made me eager to watch the cutscenes.

Now, onto my boasting: like I said, I have completed it twice. The first time, I was horrible at it. I managed to defeat Determined Dirna, but it was only once with Freya. However, during the second playthrough, I realized that Archers were the most powerful classes in the game, so I picked my favorite one: Ehrde. Why did I pick Ehrde? Well, he was unique: besides Rufus, he was the only male Einherjar. Plus, being a male, he can equip the White Loincloth. And also, being an Einherjar, he can learn Smashing Shot, one of the most powerful attacks in the game. I used him, and only him. I soloed every battle after the point that I got him, which was hard, since he only had a ten percent chance to get, I believe; Phyress kept appearing. With him, I managed to beat the entire Seraphic Gate a total of eleven times. And I also got the Angel Slayer. What's more is that I learned how to effectively use him well, without even giving him a weapon! That's right, Ehrde does not even equip a weapon.

That's enough of my boasting. The game was great, and I really enjoyed it. I'm going to replay it someday soon, I think. And I have to use Ehrde again.
