Mirage Koas![]() Japanese Version Name: Mirage Coast Race: Klausian Height: 5'9" Weight: 117 lbs Age: 27 Weapon: Gauntlet Starting Level: 30 Background: Mirage also serves under Quark and is a long time friend of Cliff, whom both learned to fight at the same dojo club long ago. While rather tame in appearance she is not one to be reckoned with, it’s also believed that she has defeated Cliff 982 to 11 with 43 ties while sparring together. Personality: She is a beautiful, well mannered, yet extremely powerful lady; such is the way of the Klausians. She is also an extremely dependable and loyal lady to those she serves, even when Cliff might be making a stupid decision she will support it all the way. Recruitment Info: While you witness her very early in the game you part ways with her soon after. She will join you much later in the game, not until later on disk 2 when you return to Elicoor II after various other tasks throughout the game. This will occur regardless of your actions and other recruitments, although only in the Directors cut version of course as she was not playable in the original Japan only version. Battle Information: Mirage can learn only Battle Skills, well only by level ups that is. She can learn Symbology only by the use of either “Common Attack Symbols” & “Common Support Symbols”; refer to the list below for what unique battle skills she will learn, when and an evaluation of them. Note: Base cost is the skill cost if used as a minor skill; it varies by both the level of the attack and the characters maximum HP for Major Attacks. The Base Cost purpose is for a guide to fury consumption use and whether it consumes HP or MP to perform. Battle Skills Summary: Name: Hammer of Might CP Cost: 3 Learned: Starts with it Range: Short/Medium Base Cost: 15 HP/20 Fury Function: A downward smashing attack with both hands interlocked. Hold the attack button down to initiate. Evaluation: This attack causes a large area Earth attack which cause 2 powerful HP attacks, as well as MP damage for good measure. It’s a great attack to cancel chain with for a majority of the game. Compared to Cliff its slightly lower in HP damage, but in exchange for more MP damage. Rating: 8/10 Name: Sphere of Might CP Cost: 4 Learned: Starts with it Range: Short Base Cost: 20 HP/15 Fury Function: Generates short-range energy waves. Hold the attack button down to initiate. Evaluation: Causes a small sphere in front of Mirage that does a few reasonable HP damage attacks. It’s just a typical average starter move that ends up woeful compared to what she can later learn. Rating: 2/10 Name: Electric Fists CP Cost: 6 Learned: Lv 33 Range: Short Base Cost: 20 HP/9 Fury Function: A continuous attack, using the arms. Hold the attack button down to initiate. Evaluation: Perhaps similar to Triple Kick, causes 3 HP punch attacks, with the third knocking the enemy down. Although for range and clearance it doesn’t compare, not a bad attack, but there is no way it should be used as a hideous cost of 6 CP. Rating: 2.5/10 Name: Aerial Assault CP Cost: 5 Learned: Lv 41 Range: Short Base Cost: 80 HP/20 Fury Function: An aerial assault on the target. Hold the attack button down to initiate. Evaluation: This attack is fantastic, in fact puts up a strong case for her best attack.. Here Mirage jumps in the air to charge down hard and fast on the enemy, causes high HP damage with even a little MP damage for good measure. Should you press the attack again while in mid air in can translate to a half strength, yet double diameter attack, can be very useful at times. Then you can also use it at the end of a cancel chain, and with an attack boost can hit 99,999 HP damage probably quicker then any other attack in the game! Rating: 10/10 Name: Crescent Locus CP Cost: 4 Learned: Lv 45 Range: Short Base Cost: 50 HP/20 Fury Function: Kicks an enemy up into the air. Hold the attack button down to initiate. Evaluation: Similar to Aerial, but more effective. Causes strong HP damage and can be easily chained, but doesn’t offer a knockdown or other status bonuses. And you really don’t want Maria this close to your enemy considering her other great range attacks and low movement speed. Rating: 3/10 Name: Triple Kick CP Cost: 5 Learned: Lv 49 Range: Close Base Cost: 60 HP/20 Fury Function: A series of three kicks. Hold the attack button down to initiate. Evaluation: For enjoyment factor I love this attack, three very powerful, good attack range HP damage clearing kicks. Can also shove a majority of enemies a great distance away from you, great to use if you’re a more defensive style fighter. Safer and more effective to use with Mirage then Maria as well thanks to her greater foot speed. Rating: 8/10 Name: Acrobat Locus CP Cost: 6 Learned: Lv 52 Range: Short Base Cost: 400 HP/20 Fury Function: A series of punch moves. Hold the attack button down to initiate. Evaluation: Mirages turn for a crazy combo. If out of control powerful HP combo attacks are your thing then go for it. Rating: 6.5/10 Name: Avenger Charge CP Cost: 8 Learned: Lv 62 Range: Short Base Cost: 410 HP/25 Fury Function: A continuous tackling attack. Hold the attack button down to initiate. Evaluation: Another powerful kicking style combo attack, again great for multiple hits and HP damage. Rating: 6/10 Name: Blazing Cannon CP Cost: 8 Learned: Item Requirement: Immense Folio, found on level 178 of Sphere 211. Range: Short Base Cost: 550 HP/30 Fury Function: A multilevel attack from a power tackle. Hold the attack button down to initiate. Evaluation: So many crazy combo attacks for the Klausians, although this is one of the best of them. This is an excellent HP damage attack with many hits. Rating: 7.5/10 Name: Infinity Kick CP Cost: 8 Learned: Item Requirement: Burdensome Folio, level 5 of the Maze of Tribulations and in the Urssa Lava Temple Important Note: Both Cliff & Mirage can use this, hence there being two of the item available. Range: Short Base Cost: 600 HP/30 Fury Function: A mad dance kicks. Hold the attack button down to initiate. Evaluation: Again, another crazy combo attack, but since Mirage doesn’t have as many as Cliff its more likely to be used with her. Although it does come with a high CP cost and Blazing Cannon is better. Rating: 5.5/10 Learning Chart This chart covers every skill Mirage can learn by level order; bar the ones every character can learn via items.
![]() Battle Overview: Mirage is easily considered as a clone of Cliff, although she is more concentrated with kicking attacks (some of Maria’s) and is far superior in both overall MP and MP damage, which Cliff severely lacks. Her minor attack is a little different with a spin punch & kick in sequence; it’s quick and can actually be helpful when training skills like Stun etc. Consequently since she arrives later in the game and offers only one unique battle skill, and then also is one of the two slowest to learn SP (Albel is the other). Due to this she is unlikely to be a favourite of many, unless you like looks, she would be the most ‘beautiful’ in the game; hey even Fayt thinks so! (No not me, the character in the game). Still, she offers a nice variation from Cliff with better MP, and far greater speed then that of Maria. Most suitable for those that can’t get enough of melee style fighters. Suggested Skill Sets Clear Range Sm: Stun Lm: (Empty) SM: Triple Kick LM: Aerial Assault S1: First Aid S2: Critical Hit HP This simple, yet effective combination allows Mirage to move swiftly utilising her great speed to effectively use Triple Kick to clear any and just about all enemies out of her and your allied path. Aerial Assault it for a one hit concentrated attack and the simple stun used in an enemies face with her 2 hit style attacks will be able to dramatically slow your enemies, particular when its level is raised. Critical Hit HP will boost your damage and First Aid is just the best 1 CP skill in the game, live saver! What on Earth? Sm: Hammer of Might Lm: Hammer of Might SM: Hammer of Might LM: Hammer of Might S1: First Aid S2: Max Fury Here is something pretty cheap, lazy but extremely effective (Unless the enemy can absorb/nullify Earth damage) Just keep swapping between o & x and watch the large range & powerful two hit combo become strong and stronger with each hit. With Berserk switched on these chains can last longer and be even more powerful. Max Fury is a great support to insane combo chaining, and finally First aid…I’ve said many times about how useful it is. Note that the battle skill evaluations are based on my own thoughts and experiences with the game, I'm sure not everyone will agree with my ratings; feel free to post your own assessments of these abilities or any other comments relating to Mirage. |

I feel Mirage is way too underrated. Because of the fact that she's a Cliff clone like you said, people don't even give her a chance. And the fact that she starts out so late in the game at only level 30 doesn't help much, either. I didn't even use her at first, since I thought it would be a pain to level her up, especially since I didn't like using Cliff, and she was pretty much exactly the same. But during my second playthrough, I decided to go for a new character, and that was when I used Mirage. I have to say, she is one of the strongest characters in the whole game. Her physical attacks are quite possibly the strongest, and Aerial Assault is just so powerful, easily dealing from 70,000~99,999 if Mirage has good attack. Plus, Mirage has a lot of stamina, and she is often the one to survive brutal enemy attacks. And I believe that it was Mirage who tough enough to still be standing against Lenneth during the battle after Maria got wiped out. Of course, she died sometimes, too, but she lasted much longer. In the end, she was the one to dive in and finish off Lenneth. In my opinion, Mirage is one of the best frontline fighters. If anyone would actually use her, they'll realize how powerful she really is. |
