Item Invention

Once you have reached Peterny you will be able to register with the Craftsmen’s Guild, it’s located on the West side of Peterny.

There are two main factors involved when inventing as follows:

Original Creation: Involves attempting creating an item from scratch.

Specify Plan: Where you can combine materials/item’s etc in an attempt to improve the quality of the item, or combine items.

Now, with that being said, there are a few important factors you must consider when creating an item, they are as follows.

Price: This determines the base Fol cost of the item you wish to create, when trying to create an item you will need to get the Fol amount as close to the Price for the item you wish to create. And unfortunately you can only acquire it by pressing x to change the Fol cost; you cannot set an amount you desire manually. The actual cost of the item is 10 times more then the cost shown in the FAQ, the cost shown is how to create the item, the value of the item is 10 times more then what is shown (Eg, an item created at 1,000 Fol, is valued at 10,000 Fol).

Rarity: Honestly I don’t know why this even exists, it doesn’t seem to do anything. Who cares how rare it is if it doesn’t affect rankings or creating them huh?

Rating: This is of the most importance, your equal talent level must exceed this in order to create an item. These also relate to the points the inventors will get for their ranking, and will be shared if they are contributed to it.

Inventor: This is who is displayed as the item creator per my game file. Of course there are highly likely to be other inventors that can also make the items shown, its there to aide in adding inventors that can potentially make the item in question.

Invention Help Items

Sometimes creating the item you wish may actually seem impossible, thankfully there are various invention help items you can find throughout the game. They will effectively raise your combined talent level per line by 20 for that particular item type. This can dramatically help you achieve the required Rarity level to create any of the items listed later in this guide. I recommend that you get all of these items and never sell them, as they are invaluable when trying to make items with a high Rarity.

Refer just below for the items that aide each creation type, and where you will be able to obtain it.

Talent Aide: Cooking
Item: Keen Kitchen Knife
Obtained: Purchased at Gemity for 55,000 Fol.

Talent Aide: Alchemy
Item: Alchemist’ Stone
Obtained: Found in a chest at the Mosel Dunes.

Talent Aide: Crafting
Item: Cherubic Bust
Obtained: Found at the Palmira Plains.

Talent Aide: Compounding
Item: Multi-Flask
Obtained: Found in a chest at Arias.

Talent Aide: Smithery
Item: Smithy Hammer
Obtained: Found at a chest at Arkives, upstairs of Flads house (Have to return after 1st visit to get it)

Talent Aide: Writing
Item: Enchanted Pen
Obtained: Found in a chest in the Shrine of Kaddan, by using the Ring of Disintegration in a room which has massive formations sticking our from the wall on both sides.

Talent Aide: Engineering
Item: NC Program Disk
Obtained: Found in a chest at Moonbase.

Other Invention Tips

Save Fol: There is no doubt item creation can be very expense, I recommend saving your game file just prior making any items, and should you fail many times consecutively when creating/refining items simply reload the game; in order to save a lot of your Fol. When you’re successful save your game so you don’t have to make/refine it again.

Constant Failures: Sometimes it seems like you will attempt to make an item forever and it will fail again and again, it appears that some inventors simply cannot make certain items, if struggling vary your inventors trying to create the item in question, it may just be the difference it getting it to work.

Easy Method: In time as the game progresses items will constantly be made by the other inventors, of course they are rarely the highest of quality of items. But it does happen occasionally, if you have the patience and just keep checking what’s being made and the shops you may well find one or two of these best items for sale!

Best Original Creation Items

Here is a list of some of the best items you can make in the game. Firstly will be the inventor recruitment items, in alphabetical order.

Item: Adorable Kitty Doll
Created by: Crafting
Price: 241 Fol
Rarity: 1
Rating: 2
Inventor: Fayt, Stanice
To Recruit: Mayu
Notes: Finally an inventor must item is relatively easy to make, you shouldn’t have too many troubles achieving this one. In fact on one of my plays it was made for me by another inventor, I just purchased it and gave it to Mayu.

Item: Philosopher’s Stone
Created by: Alchemy
Price: 12 Fol
Rarity: 99
Rating: 100
Inventor: Eliza
To Recruit: Ansala
Notes: Its Rarity as you can see is extremely high, making inventing it very difficult with low probability. Since Eliza’s talent level is so low pairing her with Misty Lear and any other inventor with a high Alchemy Rating is a must to try and create it.

Item: Potion of Youth (Fake)
Created by: Compounding
Price: 5 Fol
Rarity: 97
Rating: 65
Inventor: Cliff, Puffy
To Recruit: Gossam
Notes: Unless your really want to get all the inventors I really wouldn’t bother. It’s a real pain to make and Gossam pretty much sucks as an inventor. However if you must try pair the best remaining compound specialists with Cliff, it won’t be easy to make unfortunately. Either that or wait until post game and have Puffy help out with it, she appears to have a higher success rate with it.

Item: Strange Book
Created by: Writing
Price: 5,400 Fol
Rarity: 99
Rating: 65
Inventor: Count Noppen, Cornelius
To Recruit: Osman the Sage
Notes: Yet again a tough book to make, it also appears that Osman is the only one that can make some of the best Tomes in the game. The toil in making this is well worth it.

Item: Ultimate Bomb
Created by: Engineering
Price: 180 Fol
Rarity: 98
Rating: 80
Inventor: Fayt, Cliff
To Recruit: Dejison
Notes: This item is also a major pain to create, you will have to try many times to get it, I’d almost say not bother; as Dejison is a terrible inventor. However, he is needed if you want to get the great Izak. Meryl is one I’d recommend pairing with Fayt; the other is up to you.
Now we move on too the most important, those that can help you in battle. They will be in order of

- Crafting
- Smithery
- Engineering
- Compounding
- Alchemy
- Cooking
- Writing

Best Crafting Creations

Here will be a summary of the best Crafting items you can create, listed in rating order. These will be of the greatest importance in the game; some of these accessories can make battles much easier, particularly in post game events.

Item: Boots of Prowess
Price: 2,480 Fol
Rarity: 100
Rating: 99
Inventor: Chilico
Base Stats: 20 ATK, 20 DEF, 30 HIT & 10 AGL
Bonus: +5%ATK/DEF (R1, +10% ATK/DEF, R2 +30% ATK/DEF)
Stack: You can essentially equip 10 of these maximum to any one character, making the boost 300% ATK/DEF boost to stats (Equipment + character stats).
Evaluation: Once refined to +30% ATK/DEF it is the ultimate stat boost accessory. They aren’t that cheap to refine, but are by far worth it as many would agree it’s the best accessory in the game.
Alternate Find: It’s also possible to ‘bypass’ the original creation of the item if you do not have Albel in you’re party. Just keep fighting him and defeating him nearby Crosell late in the game, every time he will drop an unrefined Boots of Prowess!
Rating: 10/10

Item: Ring of Erudition
Price: 640 Fol
Rarity: 99
Rating: 70
Inventor: Sophia
Base Stats: 10 INT
Bonus: +10% exp acquisition (R1, +20% exp acquisition)
Stack: Your party can benefit from 5 of these in total per battle.
Evaluation: With 5 all refined and added to a weapon (Laser Weapon recommended, as everyone can then use it) you can double your experience for every battle. That is something that can never be underestimated when developing your characters.
Rating: 9.5/10

Item: Blazing Pendant
Price: 380 Fol
Rarity: 100
Rating: 30
Inventor: Chilico
Base Stats: None
Bonus: Recover HP of 1/20 damage of “element” attacks, also Recover MP of 1/10 damage.
Stack: N/A, just one each is needed
Evaluation: With this, and patient careful refining you can potentially turn all elemental damage into bonus HP & MP. Takes a long time to make, although thankfully doesn’t cost too much Fol, having at least one is very worthwhile, particularly for BT collection.
Rating: 9/10

Item: Blue Talisman
Price: 260 Fol
Rarity: 98
Rating: 20
Inventor: Aqua & Evia
Base Stats: +2 HIT
Bonus: No HP damage 10% of the time, R1 No HP damage 30% of the time
Stack: None, works with just one.
Evaluation: As the name suggests, can nullify any HP damage completely 30% of the time, not a bad option to synthesize with. Although relying on it can be dangerous, fit it in with your style.
Rating: 9/10

Item: Red Talisman
Price: 260 Fol
Rarity: 32
Rating: 20
Inventor: Balbados
Base Stats: +2 AGL

Rating: 9/10

Item: Ring of Mental Power
Price: 220 Fol
Rarity: 85
Rating: 80
Inventor: Chilico
Base Stats: None
Bonus: +3% MP Regeneration at intervals (R1, +6% MP Regeneration)
Stack: You will benefit from only 2 of these maximum (meaning +12% MP regeneration is the most any one character can achieve).
Evaluation: Essentially the same as the Regeneration Symbol, although can be refined to have double the MP regeneration, since MP KO’s are highly possible this can aide in preventing them and also cover up high use MP battle skills.
Rating: 9/10

Item: Bangle of Intellect
Price: 300 Fol
Rarity: 100
Rating: 20
Inventor: Aqua & Evia
Base Stats: None
Bonus: +10% INT Increase, +10% INT Increase. (R1 +30%, +10% INT), R2 +30-%, +20% INT, (R3 +30%, +30% INT)
Stack: You can apply as many as you can fit, always boosting INT.
Evaluation: As an accessory it essentially gives you a 30% INT boost twice, if Synthesized you could have a maximum of 8 single 30% + INT factors. For your dedicated mage Sophia (or Adray) it’s a fantastic accessory to equip, or synthesize with.
Rating: 8.5/10

Item: Star Necklace
Price: 4,100 Fol
Rarity: 100
Rating: 80
Inventor: Chilico
Base Stats: None
Bonus: ½ casting time

Rarity: 97
Rating: 50

Rating: 8/10

Item: Anti-Freezing Amulet
Price: 800 Fol
Rarity: 98
Rating: 50
Inventor: Fayt
Base Stats: None
Bonus: Prevents the instant freezing state.
Stack: N/A, just one each is needed
Evaluation: Like the other immunities, preventing against instant freezing status at the right times can make the difference in battle, equip when needed.
Rating: 8/10

Item: Anti-Incapacitation Amulet
Price: 601 Fol
Rarity: 96
Rating: 60
Inventor: Balbados
Base Stats: None
Bonus: Prevents instant death attacks
Stack: N/A, just one each is needed
Evaluation: Attacks like “Dark Sphere” will no longer be a thread with one of these equipped, in some battles this can clearly be ‘a life saver’.
Rating: 8/10

Item: Anti-Stone Amulet
Price: 700 Fol
Rarity: 100
Rating: 50
Inventor: Fayt
Base Stats: None
Bonus: Prevents instant petrifaction.
Stack: N/A, just one each is needed
Evaluation: Petrifaction is just as dangerous as KO as well, prevention against when needed is beneficial for success.
Rating: 8/10

Rating: 70
Inventor: Boyd
Base Stats: 20 DEF, 25 AGL

Rating: 1/10

This will list the best weapons (Except Maria, hers is made by Engineering) you can make for your characters. While these generally don’t have any ‘bonus’ slots it is actually a good thing, as most of these can double as the best base stat weapons that have not already consumed some Synthesis slots. Alchemy

Which Alchemy you can make some rare materials, which are perfect for synthesizing to weapons, in rating order.

Item: Orichalcum
Price: 5,700 Fol
Rarity: 100
Rating: 98
Inventor: Misty Lear
Function: ATK +500, Survive on Fury when incap 50%
Evaluation: You’ve probably heard about this one before, probably the most talked about item in the game. This can produce a massive boost to your ATK from around mid story; this can make battles a lot easier, in fact too easy. I would not recommend using this until you reach Universe or 4D mode, as it will take away the challenge of the game. Post game its potentially mathematically better to have Boots of Prowess as well I might add, and it of course also provides all important DEF as well.
Rating: 9/10

Item: Dark Crystal
Price: 210 Fol
Rarity: 78
Rating: 10
Inventor: Louise the Diviner
Function: INT +500, Chaos (attack affect). R1, INT +1,000
Evaluation: The ultimate synthesis item for Sophia & Adray, a massive 1,000 additional INT can make your Symbologists a fearful weapon in battle.
Rating: 8.5/10

Item: Rainbow Diamond
Price: 210 Fol
Rarity: 78
Rating: 10
Inventor: Louise the Diviner
Function: DEF +100, Recover HP of 1/20 damage of Fire & Earth attacks.
Evaluation: Early in the game, particularly on the harder difficulties can be useful in providing greater defence, the best DEF boost you can apply to a weapon. Before Boots of Prowess or a high DEF rating this can be rather beneficial.
Rating: 7/10

Cooking

Cooking items are the worst you can create in the game, they are essential restorative items that can be used only outside of battle, such a waste of time I’m not even doing to fill this guide with the unnecessary junk. Cooking materials are easy to obtain however, so if anything it might be worth doing first to get used to inventing. But all of the items are basically garbage.

Writing

For the best tomes you can create with the writing talent click here for the battle skill evaluations, which includes all the best tomes you can create.

That’s it; if you want to post any comments about the guide, or suggest some items that you feel really deserve to be included post them here.
