Game Notes; Took down while playing the game.

I ran across my notes that I wrote while playing the game. There is some interesting stuff, but I'm not certain that these things aren't already known or documented. I can't recall enough to give details, as I don't remember all of the area names off the top of my head. Tomorrow I will bring my notes and give a sample of some of the things I made note of.

Actually, I'm quite curious as to what kind of notes you took. What were they about? Maybe strategies and such, by the sound of it?

Actually, it's more in the line of solutions to the various puzzles (like the block puzzles in the Aquatic Gardens of Surferio), and notes about treasure chests. The guide made a few mistakes, and I made note of the corrections.

I'm posting the puzzle solutions to all three block puzzles in the Aquatic Gardens of Surferio.

Puzzle 1:

I noticed an error in the Puzzle 2 solution. I mistakenly type North Gate of Puzzle 1, instead of West Gate of Puzzle 1, when I referenced reaching the East Gate of Puzzle 2.

I have been compiling a list I made in my notes concerning the various items found in the chests as I encountered them, and identified them according to the Brady Games guide. I found some very interesting differences.

I haven't finished going through all of the lists yet. Currently, I have every area that contains treasure chests from Whipple Village to Sphere 211. I have the bonus dungeons yet to do. I have never defeated Gabriel Celesta, so the Sealed Levels of Sphere 211 remain sealed, for now.

There is one area where I found that the guide showed 2 chests containing the same item, but in the game one of them contained something different. I never marked my guide to reflect which chest it was. I remember planning another play-through in order to find everything again and this time make note of which chest it is.

There is another area where there are chests that are not identified in the guide. I made note of those, and, while I haven't checked that in depth yet, I believe I did mark the guide to show where those chests occurred. If I did, I will make maps of the area, showing where those chests occur.

Finally, I recorded all of the puzzle solutions to all of the various floor and room puzzles that occur in the game. I am going to compile those documents as well. In the end, I hope to be able to provide some useful information to the players of the game.

In terms of strategies, while I documented some details of the fight levels in the Fighting Arena. I have never defeated the Reigning Champions, but I have defeated all levels leading up to it. My notes there are sparse, but I may be able to provide some form of details. I didn't really write down any details about my battle groups, or what I had them doing. I know that I leveled them all as equally as I could. I had Adray, but he was not much use until he gained more abilities. I did not include Roger or Peppita in my groups. I had Nel, Adray, Albel and Mirage, in addition to Fayt, Cliff, Sophia and Maria.

My memory is so sparse right now, that I'm having to refer to the guide constantly, just to make sure I give the correct names to everything and everyone. It's been a few years since I really played it. I got caught up in Final Fantasy XII. I'm waiting for XIII and XIII Versus to be released. It is my hope that I'll be able to get back to playing my PS2 in the next few months. I'll be able to play SO3 again, and finish up all the things I didn't do last time.

If anyone is interested, and if there's a proper topic to post it in, I can provide a list of the Battle Trophies I accumulated. I haven't played through a third or fourth time yet, so I don't have those Trophies yet.

Interesting stuff, I love how you made maps of the Aquatic Gardens of Surferio, I recall struggling through that place but eventually making it through without a guide. No doubt that would be handy to refer to if I ever did go there again.

As for Battle Trophies, I tried to make a full guide of that myself, and ended up with over 80% of the trophies - but some of my tips might be too vague and not quite detailed enough. Feel free to refer to that with your Battle Trophies you accumulated.

This is a list of the items in the treasure chests in the game.

This listing is derived from what the treasure chests in the game
contained. Where there is a difference in the guide, that difference
is noted in the column to the right of the table, on the same line as
the item entry. Where additional text is included, it occurs on the
next immediate line under the first comment.

Hidden Items are treasure chests that require the Ring of Disentegration
in order to remove the obstacle preventing you from reaching the chest.

Ruins of Coffir
===============
The guide has a numbering typo. It numbered item 7 as item 9, then followed
that with item 8, and item 9 again. The item names are both correct, but
the number is 9 in both cases, and the number 7 is missing.

Mountains of Barr Hidden Items and Maze of Tribulations
================= ============     ====================
The order listed in the guide is different from the order I discovered
these chests in. I am listing them in the order in which they occur in the
guide.

Maze of Tribulations
====================
My table for this area wasn't organized the way the others were. The
distinction between regular chest and hidden chest was lost. I organized
the list in the order of treasure chest number, and separated regular from
hidden.

Sphere 211 (Floors 6 - 100) and Sphere 211 Sealed Levels (Floors 101 - 210)
===========================     ===========================================
I opted to count the items found, since the level of complexity of the
guide's list is large. I will be compiling a list, by floor, of what occurs
on each level.

There are many empty chests on these levels. I didn't count them last time.
As I compile the list, I will count them and include entries for them.

Sphere 211 Sealed Levels (Floors 101 - 210)
===========================================
As I have never defeated Gabriel Celesta, I have not gone through the
Sealed Levels.

Ancient Ruins of Mosel (Lower Floors)
=====================================
There are 2 treasure chests that occur in the game that are not documented in the guide.
The level they occur on is:

Floor B1F, Subterranean Passage

Drawing an ascii map of the area is more difficult than I expected it to be. Instead, I
will give directions to follow to get to them. Both treasure chests are only reachable
after the water drains from the area. Start where you enter the lower levels.

Cooking Ingredients
===================

1. Follow the path to where the Hauler Beast was.
2. Walk south and around the end of the upper platform.
3. Walk north and go to the left, passing under the upper platform.
4. Turn right and walk north as far as you can go.
5. Turn right and walk to the end of the narrow passage.
6. Switch back and walk up the ramp.
7. Switch back again and follow the platform.
8. Turn left. When you reach the fork, follow to the left.
9. Walk south until you reach the wall.

The chest is against the wall.

Star Talisman
=============

1. Follow 1 through 4 above.
2. When you get to the end, turn left and follow the path through the
   upper platform.
3. Turn right and keep walking until you reach the west-most wall of
   the area.
4. Turn south and follow the path going under the upper platform.
5. Keep walking south, making the left-right jog.
6. Go through the opening in the divider wall that takes you back
   into the southern portion of the area.
7. Follow the path south as it passes under the platform above.

The chest is at the far south end of this part, on the left in the
nitch.

Urssa Cave Temple
=================
I have never defeated the final boss of this area. As such, I have not yet
gotten Trading Card EX11.

This post contains the solutions to the Floor Puzzles in the Maze of Tribulations. In addition to the exit solutions, I also include the solutions for clearing the levels below the puzzle levels.

The floor puzzles are layed out identically, so I have only included one diagram.

Levels B2F, B6F
+------------------------+
|+----++----++----++----+|
||A1  ||A2  ||A3  ||A4  ||
||    ||    ||    ||    ||
|+----++----++----++----+|

+------------------------+

Level B2F
=========
Solution to exit: (10 moves)
D3,C3,C2,B2,B1,C1,C2,B2,A2,A1

To get everything in Level B3F:
==============================
 1. Go to D3 and jump into D4
 2. Move D3 east, then jump into D3
 3. Move D3, D2, and D1 east, then jump into D1
 4. Move C4 south, then jump into C4
 5. Move B4 and C4 south, then jump into B4
 6. Move B4 and C4 south, then B2 and B3 east, then jump into B2

Level B6F
=========
Solution to exit: (18 moves)
D3,D2,D1,C1,C2,D2,D3,C3,B3,B2,A2,A3,B3,B2,C2,C1,B1,A1

This post contains the solution for the second element of the Urssa Lava Caves Room Puzzle.

Second Element Puzzle

The Urssa Cave Temple room layouts are too complex for me to include a diagram at this time. The general layout is as follows:

+------++------++------+
|North ||North ||North |
|West  ||Center||East  |
+------++------++------+
+------++------++------+
|South ||South ||South |
|West  ||Center||East  |
+------++------++------+

You start in the South-Center room.

    Go to (room):  Get orb: Place orb: Get other: Where:
    ============   =======  =========  =========  =====
 1. South-West     Fire
 2. South-East              Fire
 3. North-East     Air
 4. South-Center            Air
 5. South-Center   Water                           Center pedestal
 6. North-East              Water      Treasure
 7. North-East     Water
    Exit through the center walkway and thru the door in the middle
 8. North-Center   Earth    Water
    Exit west to the n/w room, exit that room east to the center
    walkway back to the n/e room
 9. South-East     Fire
10. South-Center   Air
11. South-West              Earth
12. North-West              Air        Treasure
12. North-West     Air
13. North-Center            Air
14. North-Center            Fire

This post contains my Inventor Recruiting and Placement List.

The location is where I sent them. I grouped them together according to type of inventing they do. I found that the locations have a limit to how many inventors can be there, so some of them were placed in a different location. In those cases, I put the location in parentheses beside the inventor's name. I purposely avoided the workshops in the Urssa Lava Caves and Maze of Tribulations, though, in retrospect, I probable could have divided the inventors up better if I had used them.

The two inventors I have not gotten yet are shown in the location I planned to put them in.

Impressive set of notes, well presented out too.

As for the Ranking Battle I think that will vary for every player. I noticed that at the others will exchange their rating by up to a few places from time to time - assuming that they also fight each other and switch ratings.

Just when I thought it was done, I find my Firewall notes.
