Best/Fav character combinations?

Easy wins have never been my style
Speaking purely from a battle perspective, which four characters do you have in your party the most? And if you are like me and tend to use everyone equally which ones do you normally settle with for tough battles?

My most common combination is Edge, Aramut, Bacchus & Sarah.

Firstly, Edge is the perfect character to use on your own, boosted massively with a Strike BEAT setup to allow Blindsides, and double Blindsides with bonuses. Edge has plenty of close range attacks to deal massive amounts of damage. Rising Blade > Cyclone Blade > Mystic Cross is a fun combination to keep the enemy in the air and hit the crap out of them. Add in Critical Hit & Stun for even more melee effectiveness and he is an offensive machine.

Secondly it's Aramut, he is my second choice character to use, also with a Strike BEAT setup for Blindside purposes. Like Edge I also give him Critical Hit and Stun. Aramut is better to use when there are more enemies around with medium strength. A Diabolic Edge > Diabolic Edge > Bladestorm Revolution combination always clears through bunches of enemies with ease, and helps get up your Fol bonus gauge as well an multi-enemy kills are easy to achieve with him.

Thirdly, Bacchus. For him I use the Burst BEAT setup, to make him the perfect choice to setup up Rush combos as well. Even something as simple Galvanic Shock is usually quite powerful in Rush combos. He is ideal to use if you want to safely protect your battle bonus gauge as many of his attacks can be performed at long range and I also find he is the best character to use for Jumping - as for Bacchus it's basically rapid sliding with the ability to fire multiple times as well. Add in his high parameters and Emergency Repairs he can be quite the tank that can look after himself.

Lastly, it has to be Sarah, as I feel she is the best balanced Symboligist in the game, and you always need one of them around. With Sarah you obviously have a Burst BEAT setup as it would be pretty insane to even try Blindsides with her. Just give her the boosts that Rush can deliver, she can also be used to enter Rush combination's - with three other powerful characters at least the link up character can do massive damage is Sarah cannot. She learns Faerie Light and Restoration before too long which is always useful in tough battles to save items. She also has plenty of support symbols such as Angel Feather & Enhance to get even more out of your allies.

One thing I like about The Last Hope is that every character is quite good to use though, while the above 4 are my preferred combination's I'm happy to use the others as well, all of them. (No spuds like Adray or Noel here imo. XD)

My party is not based on abilities or anything. i pick characters that I like, so it's not exactly the best team setup! :P

Edge: He is one of the best fighters in the whole game, and later on in the game, his combos do incredible damage. And he holds the attack that could deal the most damage in the game if its accuracy is good: Scintillant Stream. I used it in a combo to score huge damage every time!

Reimi: She is arguably the best at killing enemies form afar. At first, I just spammed Crimson Squall like crazy, and that killed off enemies so quickly. Later on, I had her constantly use Savage Sparrow, which attacks all enemies with a homing attack that strikes various times! Plus, her Rush gauge fills so incredibly quick, making it very easy to use her for Rush combos.

Faize: I don't know why, but I have to use him. I liked him from the beginning, so I couldn't bear to let go of him for Arumat. And it's not like he's that horrible, either. During the portion of the main game (and even some of the bonus dungeons), Faize's Ice Needles freeze enemies for me that have rather high HP, resulting in me being able to destroy them in one hit. And later on, Reaping Spark is available to him, and is deals lots of damage. But his weapons early in the game don't give that much INT boosts, so you'll have to wait later on in the game to fully utilize his Symbology.

Myuria: I use her because I want a healer with Fast Cast. I was going to use Lymle at one point, but I decided that since most of her attacks are fire elemental, and there are enemies who absorb fire, I'd use Myuria instead. her Ice Needles also freeze enemies for me like Faize's does. And when she is taught Plasma Cyclone, she can keep enemies stunned for your party members to finish them off. Plus, she is pretty good at taking damage and surviving, so that's a win. But the one thing that people hate about her (and I have recently witnessed it first-hand) is her crappy AI!

I haven't got any character past Lymle yet, so my party's somewhat sealed at this point. But after characters like Reimi and Faize, I'm sure there are plenty of good characters out there!

To be honest, I think that they can all be utilized to their fullest extent. I've heard people use all sorts of characters to complete the game. It's only a matter of favoritism, I think. They were all very useful, though some were indeed more useful than others.

Too bad you can't say that about every other Star Ocean. You hate Rena, you refuse to try Cyuss, you ALWAYS get Leon.

Well, in the other games, not every character can be utilized to their fullest extent to own the game!=P Look at this:

Edge - Very high damage dealer.
Reimi - Incredible combo inflicter.
Faize - Amazing attack symbols.
Lymle - Strong attacks and healing.
Myuria - Powerful symbols and healing.
Sarah - All healing spells and buffs.
Bacchus - Excellent mobility and physical attacker.
Arumat - Strongest attacker.
Meracle - Endless combos and powerful skills.

See, they all have great things about them that make it easy to beat the game with them.

Edge- He's an awesome attacker and he has a few symbologies just in case things get ugly [he has Radiant Lancer, wtf.]

Arumat- A powerful force,he can also rack up the kills and hits very fast. He's also a good attack Symbologist.

Myuria- Need i say anything? Sweet, sweet magic power

Sarah- She's my main healer and she barely uses her MP [i think she has a equip that lowers her MP cost, but i can't remember] The only thing i hate from Sarah is that she likes to rush into enemy atacks and die, especially Sataneil's attacks.

Novak

Right now in my party I have

Edge - Lvl 10 HP Boost, Convert
Arumat - Lvl 10 HP Boost, not sure
Reimi - Lvl 5ish Critical Hit, Lvl 10 Auto Healing
Sarah - Dont remember what skills

I like Reimi because of her high defense and she has a lot of good attacks, and I like Sarah because she's useful for healing and buffing everyone.
