Is There No Universe Mode?; I can't find it.

I've beaten this game twice, and each time, it stops at the final scene with the word "fin". However, whenever I reload to the main menu, there is no star next to the New Game option in Second Evolution. I wanted a bigger challenge, so I was hoping to play it on Universe Mode, but apparently, I can't find it. Does it even exist? What am I doing that it preventing the opening of it if it does exist?

First Departure was planned to have Galaxy and Universe modes during development, but seeing as how the original Super Famicom version of the game did not have such difficulties, the modes were "dummied out" and are only "accessible" via hacking the game (i.e. CWCheat).

Oh, God, that just plain sucks, doesn't it? Now I why the star never appears... I guess Galaxy is the only mode.

No, they aren't even hidden; they simply don't exist. If you beat Second Evolution, you'll notice a star next to the New Game option. The top of the screen will tell you to press New Game. When you do, instead of only Earth and Galxaxy mode being available, there will be a third: Universe. I'm not sure if there's a fourth, though...

Second Evolution had two difficulties? I didn't get a screen like that when I played it for the first time...

Oh, maybe it only appears after you beat it? There's an Earth difficulty, a Galaxy difficulty, and a Universe difficulty. This, I'm sure of.

Same as in The Last Hope, except the options were there from the start.

Oh, you're right: Second Evolution doesn't let you pick Galaxy or Universe difficulty to start with. You have to defeat 2,000 enemies in one save file to unlock both Galaxy and Universe. I just found out.

Look it up. And I think it's true, too, because during my first playthrough, I killed so many enemies. Some were from leveling up, and some were from just the joy of it! :P

Haven't killed that many enemies yet. I'm too busy with First Departure, right now.

First Departure s the only one that doesn't have other difficulties. The other three of the series has four modes.

Well, I am glad to hear that. Is there anything else to unlock in SOFD?

First Departure doesn't? Not even by killing 2000 enemies?

You can unlock the Sound Mode, I know that, because I have it unlocked. Just beat the game, that's all.

It's the Voice Gallery. Everytime you beat the game, every character that was in your final party will be in this gallery. There's no New Game +, however, so you'll always have to start a new game, and go after new characters to complete it.

Yeah, it is a pretty awesome title. I only wish you didn't move like a slug on the overworld. It made the trip from Ionis to Van y Ille HELL. I always regretted everytime I had to go back and forth!

You could have tooy out the Universal Media Disc to freeze random encounters. Bunny helps later on. I magine that trip at a really high difficulty!

Did you know the disc tray trick? When going on the overworld, open the disc tray, and supposedly you'll run into no encounters, because the game cannot load them without the disc. I haven't tried it before, does it work?

That was the UMD trick I was referring to. It sometimes works.

I think I tried it once... but it didn't work! I got into a battle, and had to close the disc to load the battle. It seems to randomly work.
