For those that are new to the game, or can recall your first hour or so with that game what are your thoughts? Straight up you notice the quality detail of the game, graphically it's right up there for the best I've seen on the Xbox 360 to date. I really liked how Edge narrated the early part of the game, to quickly follow up with how it's the same old blah blah...haha I like this guys personality right from the start, his voice acting is quite good too. The battle system is rather exciting, getting those Blindside tactics to work properly makes a massive difference in battle, I have a feeling I'll be using that a lot as the game goes on. Then bloody Welch, heh yet again she has a strange, cute, irritating, yet interesting personality. But that's Welch, that's exactly how she should be I suppose. First impressions are good on my behalf anyways! |

I haven't got that far into it yet, I don't have time for games like I used to. I got Lym a little while ago though, she is an interesting character to say the least. I have a feeling the 'Kay part in just about everything she says will irritate the hell out of me by the end of it though. I've started getting into Item Creation now too, I just made a horde of new recipes...now I need to find/buy the ingredients to make more of them! I love the battle system most of all though, it's wicked. The Rush gauge is handy, Blindside is awesome when you pull it off and the new method of cancel combos works quite well also. I like the new battle bonus gauge as well, been able to protect part of it by linking like for like attributes is a sweet idea. Nothing worse then losing a full gauge at once like in Till the End of Time.

It seems like there are almost too many cutscenes, I have about an hour of playtime so far and other than the battle simulator, I've only spent about 5 minutes walking around. The other ones seemed like they started pretty slowly too though, so I guess I'll just have to keep playing and see what happens. |

It's pretty typical of a Star Ocean game to have some fairly long cutscenes, particularly at the beginning. The good thing is though you do have the ability to skip scenes - which is good on replays or second attempts to defeat certain bosses. That can save you a bit of time, that is something the first two Star Ocean titles didn't offer which made is a bigger problem then what you experience now. Damn, sorry to hear about that... |

When I first played the game, I thought that it was too futuristic. Truthfully, the Star Ocean games seem to get more advanced in terms of in game technology as they progress. And what' more is that The Last Hope is suppose to be a prequel, meaning either all the Eldarians in the game died out and were unable to carry their technology onto the other games, or tri-Ace didn't realize this when the game was being developed. But who am I to complain at such petty things? I really enjoyed the game when I first played it. I had a feeling that it was going to be good, since I enjoyed the other three a lot. And it lived up to my expectations. The battle system got more unique, utilizing the Bonus Grid. However, what made the game more challenging than the others was that when an enemy enters Rush Mode, it automatically has a No Guard skill that makes it invulnerable to knockdowns. First Departure and Second Evolution had no such thing, and Till the End of Time had the Fury gauge, which was still not quite as challenging, since you could easily break even Freya's with a strong attack or Symbology. But I enjoy a good challenge. The game kept me playing on and on; I couldn't stop, because I liked it so much. And even now I'm still playing it. The buy was so worth it. |

Each game, at least Till the End of Time & The Last Hope anyway present their own unique challenges, that's one thing I love about the series. Till the End of Time for its MP kills, loved by some, hated by others. I don't find enemy Rush too much of a concern, just move away from them when they activate it so it burns out, then catch them with a Blindside towards the end of their Rush to get back on top. I love Blindside attacks by the way, the counter and double blindside initiative is quite clever as well. Using Blindside with guys like Edge and Aramat in particular is exciting. |

Oh, yeah, I remember the MP kill thing in Till the End of Time. I thought it was unfair at first, totally unfair, but later on, I found that enemies can be MP killed, too. I like how attacks can reduce both HP and MP. But that also makes things easier. Those enemies that have high HP but little MP can die so easily with just one of those Durian Stun Bombs. |

Well, the game is really magnificent from just looking at the surrounding world. It's hard to not be amazed. |

I loved MP kills, they are your biggest friend when taking on higher difficulties such as Universe mode. Then with items such as Ring's of Mental Power you didn't have to worry too much about killing yourself by using MP. The detail of the game is quite good indeed, it's the best I've seen of the RPG's that I've played on the Xbox 360 so far. I love how tri-Ace are able to push systems to their limits, I rarely notice any slowdowns either in the detail/frame rates. (Unlike The Last Remnant...omg that shouldn't have been released on Xbox 360 )
