Fascinating figures, further proving how much Japan absolutely love the Dragon Quest titles, a remake sells over 1 million units??? Madness!

Remember the figures are only for the period 1/4/08 to 30/3/09. Which is why something like Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume is so low, it was released on the 17th March 09 in the US. And on the 3rd of April 09 in the UK, which means that is in fact 20,000 pre-ordered copies!

While Star Ocean: The Last Hope is not out until the 4th of June for Europe, and pre-orders for it only really started this month.

6,960,000 combined units in about a year? Is my calculation right? I used Google!=P

That seems so much for video games! And Dissidia got over 900,000 units sold in just Japan! Imagine when it comes out in NA and Europe!

You know... Squeenix has done a good job making games that get people to want to buy a PSP for the sole reason of playing that game. 2008 had Crisis Core, and now this year we have Dissidia. I suppose Birth by Sleep could be next year's big title.

Even the remakes sell for a ton. We have young gamers now who have never played the original, since they were from so far back, so the remake seems entirely new.

That's another sad thing. One day, all the great games that don't have a remake... they'll just be forgotten about, even Till the End of Time.

I'm glad for the remakes on PSP & DS, it's a great way to give old games new life, and mobile gaming can be quite convenient at times. Like when I played the Dragon Quest remakes on DS not that long ago, they were fantastic.

I'm amazed they can fit what they can on the DS. If they DO make an FFV DS, it won't be the same. They had trouble with FFIV DS, so they'll have it even worse with that game!
