Have you ever got a game even though you knew you wouldn't like it? And if so what games were they?

Final Fantasy X-2
I didn't like FFX so why would I like X-2? I dunno but I got it anyway even though I knew I wouldn't like it much if at all and in the end the only thing I liked about it was the combat and that erm..I'm not telling what else I liked ;D

Drakengard
Tried it at a friends before I got it (same with X-2) but I was such a sad Square Enix freak at the time I apparently didn't care and got it despite it being a horrible button basher.

I'm glad to be able to say I was only that stupid/weird twice but then again its pretty bad that I even did that one time

Final Fantasy X-2 for me as well, the plot and Y-R-P nonsense was VERY offputting. But I really wanted to see the appearances from everyone in FFX as I enjoyed the original. At least the battle system and dress sphere idea was good enough to make it somewhat worthwhile. Even though I wanted to kill both Rikku & Yuna. >.<

It's the only one I can think of though, if I really don't like something I just don't bother finishing it (like FFXII or The Last Remnant).

Soul Calibur 4..it was..horrible. At least the trade-in credit I got went towards my 360, for Star Ocean and Vesperia, along with IU.

bite my shiny metal-
Magna Carta. It didn't exactly win me over from the beginning. I know it's kinda superficial but the opening movie was kinda boring :P As I played on, I found that the music and the story weren't that great and the characters got zero development. The battle system was alright, but it could get annoying sometimes as it only allows you to do one thing.

The other was Final Fantasy XII. I think I've already expressed my absolute boredom with the story. After the long prologue, I knew that I wouldn't like it.
Woo, Suikoden!

Then I apologize for bringing back those horrible memories, that was just sickening. :wtf:

Now, this might be a shock to some, but I'd -almost- put Grandia II in this category as well, I didn't mind it. But the longer it went the more repetitive and boring it become for me, to the point where I was in a fight thinking...is it finished yet?

I liked it to start with, but it seemed to get worse for me the further I got in rather then better. :/

^ I didn't like Grandia two either. Shame since the first one was enjoyable I thought.

I've heard that said quite often, too bad I never played the first Grandia then. Many internet goers say that Grandia III is even worse then both of the earlier ones.

I can't say for sure obviously, but there are signs of some potential in Grandia II, it seems like a series that could have been much better...but failed to do so.

If you ever see a sign on the side of the road reading "Love Shack," DRIVE AWAY!!! :O
To be honest, looking at Final Fantasy XII and all its game mechanics, I was taken aback, and a little worried... I found out quickly this wasn't the best game I'd ever played. Oh, it wasn't that it was a bad game, it was a rather fun and long RPG... just a bad Final Fantasy...

I knew I wouldn't like Crystal Chronicles that much when I bought it. And I was right. Somehow, the one for the Gamecube wasn't that fun. And I never got to beating it.

I once played Ring of Fates... I didn't like it before and I didn't like it 30 minutes in. I didn't even bother after the first hour.

I played Dirge of Cerberus for about an hour, and then I realized how boring a shooting game is. It didn't even feel like I was playing an RPG, and I dislike the use of guns in fantasy games. For a world of swords and sorcery, it sure seems modern, especially the ones that are of FFVII.

For me, I felt FFVII's world was too modern, it strayed too far from the forumula the first six games presented. I did play all the way through, but I still feel it was a weaker entry in the series.

Nightshade.

Don't you even dare to check what this is. You will get headache, convulsions, your body temperature will decrease immediately and you may experience trauma.

I got Wii Music, despite reading a lot of negative reviews and to be honest it was a waste of money really as I played it a couple of times and that was it.

Sometimes I pick up games that are going cheap that I might not enjoy as much, but if I don't then i'm not too disappointed if I haven't spent much on them.
