I have played SO3 a couple of times and i seem to pick similar teams each time. I have either fayt, cliff and nel or fayt, cliff and maria. fayt because he is may favorite character battle wise at least. cliff mainly do to being the most leveled up by the time other characters come in, nel for healing (really helps out for my way of attack) and maria for obvious reasons. what is your favorite team or most powerful team? I am definitly going to add albel as a character this round. i am too late to make him the seventh character. save something for next time i guess. |

For me both Fayt & Maria have to be in it to be a best team for me. Fayt is a well balanced character, fast, great for absorbing damage with his high defense and offers some quality attacks like Dimension Door - and the broken (but very effective) side kick. Maria is also a must, she is slow by foot but makes up for it with great long range attacks, early on Aiming Device/Scatter Beam chains are deadly. Add Energy Burst later on for even more damaging power - also a must. Third, I struggle to decide, early in the game I think Nel is good value, she can help with basic Symbols from afar, also Ice Daggers can be quite handy for easy one-hit kills. Later on though I find her value drops and I look to someone like Cliff, or even Sophia instead. Cliff has some quality power attacks, while Sophia is I feel the better of the two specialist Symbologists, and can stun-lock enemies nicely with Thunder Flare chains in-between keeping you alive. |

You know, now that you mention sophia, i might have been under valuing her. I have never quite used her, since like i mentioned, i get stuck with just a few characters. I might try fayt, albel and sophia this time, right now i am at moonbase. just recently picked up sophia in the party, good time to start leveling her up a bit. i understand from reading another post that albel's AI is not all that effective. even so, i am at least going to give fayt, sophia and albel a try and see where i get. |

Sophia is certainly worth trying out, I know some give her the cold shoulder as she joins so late and at level 1, obviously you'll need to be careful early trying to level her up as she is pretty much guaranteed to die with one hit. But I just used her myself in those early stages and let the AI get the wins, just chip in with the occasional spell and item from afar to help the team win. I personally didn't like Albel though, he wins with personality but I just don't like fighting with him, but that's me. |

That is a good idea about sophia. I have tried playing with other characters but I always find myself playing fayt, I am used to his fighting style and attacks and I am usually unsatisfied playing with other characters. I tend to agree about albel but I never gave him a real chance on the team. so what the heck. Sophia should level up fairly quickly at least at first due to the low amount you need to level her up. |

Sophia is has a pretty good arsenal of spells. She's the only one that can cast Fairy Heal (to my knowledge) and she's got a couple of offensive spells as well. I never really used her because on my playthrough I already had level 1 Peppita (big mistake letting her join XD) and a pretty weak Adray as well (who's not that bad, as I've recently realised). I try to avoid having three characters levelled up way more than the rest. Having said that, a bit later in the game I had Fayt, Cliff and Mirage as my main party and they ended up about 20 levels ahead of everyone else. I didn't include any mages in my party because they died easily and Fayt had healing (which was the only spell I really needed) and some other spells. I remember my strategy for the final boss was have Cliff and Mirage keep Luther at bay while Fayt, who is off on his lonesome, heals and revives the other two while casting the occasional spell or doing the occasional dimension door. |

I used Fayt as my main character. He had one of the most solid defenses in the whole game, not to mention some powerful attacks. Side Kick was especially useful, since it can easily be chained to the 300% canceling rate. And later when Ethereal Blast becomes available, chaining Side Kick to Ethereal Blast will decimate enemies that are in range of the blast. I also use Maria. Everybody knows how powerful she can get with her Energy Burst skill. Sometimes, I control her, because the AI is stupid and doesn't know how to that well. In fact, I don't think that it can, can it? She is definitely one of the main damage dealers. Lastly, I use Mirage. Her attacks are so high damaging. She was my first character to deal 99,999 damage, and that was with Aerial Assault. I think that over the course of the game, her high damaging attacks have helped a lot more than the damage that I deal. And she's tough as well. I think she was what took down Lenneth for me. |

Isn't Adray a much faster symbologist than Sophia? Or do I got it the other way around? My team is a good arsenal of MP killers. It's much faster to MP kill especially Pre-Game. Maria (Energy Burst), Peppita (Dream Hammer), and Cliff (Max Shockwave/Aerial Assault) are my top MP Killers. I'm spending my time Leveling on Floor 182 of Sphere doing this over and over. |

In all of the games I played, I never had Pepita or Roger. My teams were: 1. Fayt, Nel, and Maria 2. Fayt, Cliff, and Maria 3. Fayt, Albel, and Nel 4. Fayt, Sophia, and Cliff Actually, thinking about it, I think I used every combination of Fayt, Nel, Albel, Cliff, Mirage and Sophia there is. I used Adray once, but he's too slow and my teams suffered more from using him. Asa |
