Be sure to scroll right on both the images. SO4 menus Which would you prefer? Quick Photoshop menu or bright and drawn out menu? Crappy render avatars or well drawn pretty ones? >.> I find this REALLY annoying. Did they change it becuase they thought people playing this game don't like manga style things? If your playing this game then the chances are you do so did they change it just becuase they didn't like it? Ugh.

The menus don't bug me all that much. I'd like for them to have a better background image, but I could live with it as it is. I have noticed the difference between the avatars though. I prefer the Japanese ones. The english ones look like they're out of one of those creepy British claynamation-type kid's shows. |

Hmm, 75/25 preference to the English ones here. I prefer the English ones for the menus, the effects look much better where I find the JP one is just bland. Why they have Star Ocean in such huge writing though is pointless, I think we know what game we are playing...  The faces to represent the characters in battle though I'm 50/50 on it. The JP ones are drawn better, but attract my attention more which may become more of a distraction during battle. |

The NA menues are so bright I can't even see the HP values. And I definetly like the look of the JP manga better. As for the reason they changed it, they thought it would help the game appeal to people over here, who aren't as crazy about manga and that kind of stuff as Japan. Hopefully they'll put out the JP menus as DLC. |

To be honest, I like the U.S. version better. I've never really been big into anime, Pokemon and Star Ocean are the furthest I've gone towards anything anime, and the Japanese menus really aren't all that appealing to me. I like the sleek look the English version has. It has more of an outer-space feel to it then the Japanese version. |

Woo, someone agrees with me in the topic finally. But I'll admit I'm not a bit anime fan so the English style is better for me. Maybe one day games will actually give us the choice of JP versions and EN versions... |

Well, the Japanese icons are of anime versions of the characters, and in English, it's their CGI models, kind of. I think I like the Japanese version more, cause the anime is easier to take in than the CGI ones. |
