Yes, it starts slowly and my first impressions of the game were bad as well. I ended up putting it aside and playing Eternal Sonata instead. But alter on I got back to it, and it does get better. As for 'talking to a mice to proceed' that is only to access a hidden area in an early dungeon, it's nonessential to the game itself. Some of the challenges the game offers are incredible and quite ground breaking for an action RPG. Such as busting into castles, working together with 3 groups in some areas and heaps more. It's quite refreshing to play actually. It has plenty characters as well, the group combination options you have are great. While you have to use Capell all the time the character options you can surround him really do help, there are heaps of characters in the game, even some 'secondary' characters to make things a bit different. Almost Suikoden like. A slow start yes, but it gets way better, it's worthy of been a tri-Ace game. It's taken an Action RPG to a new level, you just need to get used to it's different style first, and then I found it was great!
