Cliff Fittir![]() Japanese Version Name: Cliff Fittir Race: Klausian Height: 6'2" Weight: 212 lbs Age: 36 Weapon: Gauntlet Starting Level: 2 Background: Cliff is the former leader of the Anti-Federation group "Quark". His physical strengths exceed that of any human. And he is also never afraid to inform his opponents of this very fact before any battle. Personality: While he may seem nothing but a ‘rough and tumble’ guy, he is actually a rather laid back guy and likes to ease most situations with at time inappropriate jokes, such as his famous ‘hunches’, including his constant comments about the “Hot Clicks”, he also acts as a bit of a ladies man. Despite this he loyally serves Quark for the better of the next generation. Recruitment Info: Cliff will join you early in the game, and will likely be one of your highest use characters because of it. Battle Information: Cliff can learn only Battle Skills, well only by level ups that is. He can learn Symbology only by the use of either “Common Attack Symbols” & “Common Support Symbols”; refer to the list below for what unique battle skills he will learn, when and an evaluation of them. Note: Base cost is the skill cost if used as a minor skill; it varies by both the level of the attack and the characters maximum HP for Major Attacks. The Base Cost purpose is for a guide to fury consumption use and whether it consumes HP or MP to perform. Battle Skills Summary: Name: Sphere of Might CP Cost: 4 Learned: Starts with it Range: Short Base Cost: 20 HP/15 Fury Function: Generates short-range energy waves. Hold the attack button down to initiate. Evaluation: Causes a small sphere in front of Cliff that does a few reasonable HP damage attacks. It’s just a typical average starter move that ends up woeful compared to what he can later learn. Rating: 2/10 Name: Hammer of Might CP Cost: 3 Learned: Lv 3 Range: Short/Medium Base Cost: 15 HP/20 Fury Function: A downward smashing attack with both hands interlocked. Hold the attack button down to initiate. Evaluation: This attack causes a large area Earth attack which cause 2 very powerful HP attacks, with a little MP for good measure. It’s a great attack to cancel chain with for a majority of the game. Rating: 7.5/10 Name: Electric Fists CP Cost: 6 Learned: Lv 15 Range: Short Base Cost: 20 HP/9 Fury Function: A continuous attack, using the arms. Hold the attack button down to initiate. Evaluation: Perhaps similar to Triple Kick, causes 3 HP punch attacks, with the third knocking the enemy down. Although for range and clearance it doesn’t compare, not a bad attack, but there is no way it should be used as a hideous cost of 6 CP. Rating: 2.5/10 Name: Fiery Tackle CP Cost: 6 Learned: Lv 20 Range: Short/Long Base Cost: 20 HP/12 Fury Function: A rushing tackle, with an aura of flames. Hold the attack button down to initiate. Evaluation: A beefed up version of charge, which can be performed from anywhere, however carries a Fire element which can at times make it redundant. Useful to get Cliff from one side of the battle field to the other in a near instant, but 6 CP for an elemental attack, I’ll pass. Rating: 3.5/10 Name: Aerial Assault CP Cost: 5 Learned: Lv 25 Range: Short/Medium Base Cost: 80 HP/20 Fury Function: An aerial assault on the target. Hold the attack button down to initiate. Evaluation: This attack is fantastic, in fact puts up a strong case for his best attack.. Here Cliff jumps in the air to charge down hard and fast on the enemy, causes high HP damage with even a little MP damage for good measure. Should you press the attack again while in mid air in can translate to a half strength, yet double diameter attack, can be very useful at times. Then you can also use it at the end of a cancel chain, and with an attack boost can hit 99,999 HP damage probably quicker then any other attack in the game! Rating: 10/10 Name: Fists of Fury CP Cost: 6 Learned: Lv 30 Range: Short Base Cost: 300 HP/20 Fury Function: A devastating continuous punch attack. Hold the attack button down to initiate. Evaluation: Causes a burst of HP attacks, cancel chained can cause an insane number of attacks. It’s a great attack to use if you love seeing the ‘hit’ chain increase, which is also necessary for some Battle Trophies. This can also cause a ‘stun-locking’ affect on the enemy, which can dramatically cripple their movement. Rating: 6.5/10 Name: Uppercut CP Cost: 6 Learned: Lv 40 Range: Short Base Cost: 200 HP/15 Fury Function: A series of savage uppercuts. Hold the attack button down to initiate. Evaluation: Here Cliff punches into the air, then continues to assault them with a series of kicks, looks fantastic and can create a number of powerful HP attacks. Although if it doesn’t work it makes Cliff look pretty stupid in mid air. Not a bad attack, although I personally prefer his other skills over it. Rating: 5.5/10 Name: Acrobat Locus CP Cost: 6 Learned: Lv 50 Range: Short Base Cost: 400 HP/20 Fury Function: A series of punch moves. Hold the attack button down to initiate. Evaluation: Another crazy combo attack like uppercut, although I find this has a better chance of working. If out of control powerful HP combo attacks are your thing then go for it. Rating: 6/10 Name: Infinity Kick CP Cost: 8 Learned: Item Requirement: Burdensome Folio, level 5 of the Maze of Tribulations and in the Urssa Lava Temple Important Note: Both Cliff & Mirage can use this, hence there being two of the item available. Range: Short Base Cost: 600 HP/30 Fury Function: A mad dance kicks. Hold the attack button down to initiate. Evaluation: Again, more crazy combo attacks. This one is more like Acrobat Locus, for MP damage its better. Although for its higher cost it’s not really worth trying to fit this into his skill set. Rating: 5/10 Name: Max Shockwave CP Cost: 6 Learned: Item Requirement: Cumbrous Folio, level 150 of Sphere 211. Range: Short/Long Base Cost: 700 HP/30 Fury Function: A single energy blast attack. Hold the attack button down to initiate. Evaluation: The only move that allows Cliff to deliver painful damage from afar, all range attack with a quality diameter. This deals both HP & MP damage with multiple hits which can also attack multiple targets if lined up well. This allows greater balance to Cliffs typical in your face powerful/combo attacks. Rating: 8.5/10 Learning Chart This chart covers every skill Cliff can learn by level order; bar the ones every character can learn via items.
![]() Battle Overview: Cliff is a great all out offensive character, nimble on his feet and generally offers high HP power and fast attacks. Best used to help stun-lock your opponents and pummel them with physical attacks. There is little doubt that he will be a melee user favourite. On the negative side his MP is terrible, while he doesn’t need to invoke symbols he is a regular suspect for MP deaths, and consequently a poor candidate for “Common Support Symbols. To try prevent this prioritise his growth for MP via SP, keep some Blackberries around and get him a regeneration MP item (Regeneration Symbol etc) as quickly as you possibly can. Suggested Skill Sets Power Down Sm: Charge Lm: (Empty) SM: Aerial Assault LM: Stun S1: First Aid S2: Critical Hit HP With this simple set up you can quickly cancel into a powerful Aerial Assault (Minor attack > Charge > Aerial Assault) great way to compliment a high power HP attack. Critical Hit HP gives it the chance to be even more devastating. Stun on long range is an optional filler and always handy to be able to develop it at any opportunity. While First Aid is the perfect “1 CP left support skill”, once developed it can be a real life saver. Safe Assault Sm: Stun Lm: (Empty) SM: Aerial Assault LM: Max Shockwave S1: First Aid S2: (Empty) With this setup you have your Stun readily available with Cliff’s quickest attack, used constantly here can stun-lock your enemies extremely effectively. The two skills set to Major allow high power attacks which can be performed safely from a good distance away from your opponent. This is suitable to provide a more defensive, yet extremely powerful setup. And don’t forget First Aid for the final CP left. Note that the battle skill evaluations are based on my own thoughts and experiences with the game, I'm sure not everyone will agree with my ratings; feel free to post your own assessments of these abilities or any other comments relating to Cliff. |
