I've got the mic and you've got the moshpit.

I've been having a huge problem for a long time with spriting--time. Should it really be taking 2 months on-and-off to finish a single mix? Every once in a while I can make one in a few hours, but sometimes I just give up. I just don't get it. I find myself fixing and revising a lot, but a lot of times I just can't draw certain things on the sprite, etc. How can I make sprites in less time? (Not rushed, but in a reasonable amount of time.) |

Just... work on it. :B Make yourself work on it. It took me a month to finish this Weavile pixel over request because it was really pissing me off, but when I actually worked on it it wasn't so bad. That's all you really have to do, make yourself work on it, but it's easier said than done. Sometimes breaks are good things, though, so you can come back to what you did and see any mistakes you didn't notice while you were working on it before. Just try to limit yourself as to how long you'll allow yourself to take time off. |

I'm usually doing multiple things at the same time while I'm spriting, so it can take me anywhere from 20 minutes to several hours to finish a sprite, assuming I don't get up from the computer. ...Your problem, Penguin? I think you're being too much of a perfectionist. Don't rely so much on scratched parts, and don't worry if something looks wrong-- you'll make more sprites later, anyway. If it's giving you trouble, open up MSN and ask the nearest spriter for some crit, or I suppose you could post it here too if you wanted (although the crit takes a bit longer). But, really. Don't sweat it if stuff looks wrong-- it'll stop looking wrong the more you practice. |
