Administrator Posts: 669 Group: Admins Member #1 Joined: May 23, 2008	Okay, now the forum's getting bigger I thought it would be best to put down some ground rules for anyone that doesn't know how writing forums work. RULES 1. Please, no Chatspeak. This is a writing forum so reasonably correct spelling and grammar are most appreciated, though we are not going to bite your head off if you're not perfect, no one is. But any Chatspeak or IM language will annoy other members and may result in your post being deleted, if you persist after being told not to. 2. Remember this forum is not strictly for teenagers and younger members don't want to read posts filled with swearing and mature content. Swearing is banned here unless in a story etc, and is in the Restricted Library. 3. As this forum may have younger members there is a special PG-13 area called the Restricted Library for any work has mature content, such as sex/rape, graphic gore, murder etc. Or is something you would not show to someone under thirteen. 4. Spam is for the Meadow and welcome threads. So please don't spam up member's threads or debates. It irritates other members and if you persist you will be warned. 5. Bullying, harassment and intimidation are not tolerated here and will be punished with a suspension and possibly being banned. Anything that makes another member feel unwelcome here or hurtful is considered bullying. Harsh critiques are not counted unless written intentionally to be deliberately hurtful to the member. 6. Never, ever give out your private contact details other than email address. This is very dangerous, especially if you publically post them as not all areas of this forum are off limits to guests, who could be anyone. Be careful okay? PUNNISHMENT SYSTEM This site uses a points system (The five squares beneath your avatar on posts) to record any rule breaking. Different crimes are worth different amounts of points. Before you are given a point, you will be sent a PM on the matter, for your explanation/side to the story. Then the admin and moderators will decide what actions will be taken. 1/2 Points: The Member will get a warning 3/4 Points: The Member will be given a strong warning and suspended for a period of time between 3 days - 2 months (depending on the crime) 5 Points: The Member will receive a permanent ban, once moderators vote and approve. You may also lose points from this warning system for long periods of good behaviour and obedience to the rules after a warning. Or if you were found to be innocent/framed. Minor Rule breaking (1/2 point) Being deliberately offensive to staff members. For repeatedly spamming in the writing sections or site-related threads. Being deliberately rude or cruel to another member. For giving one-liner critiques in the writing sections, that will not help the writer at all. (Ego stroking) Using Chatspeak or IM language after being told by staff or another member not to. For double posting etc. after being told not to by a member of staff or a member. Serious Rule breaking (3/4 points) Badly threatening or being cruel/mean to another member or staff - cyber bullying. Repeated swearing/spamming after a warning. Asking for another member's private contact details. Insulting an admin/moderator who has given you a warning or point previously. Abuse of the Private Messaging or Reputation systems. (To view reasons for your reputations, just click on the number in between the arrows. You can also see other member's reasons too.) Major Rule breaking (5 points) Excessive of any of the above, basically a build up of minor offenses. (Will not result in a permanent ban but a long suspension.) Posting any nudity, mature content, or anything else along those lines . . . There's a line that even the Restricted Library won't cross okay? Copying someone else's work and calling it your own. This is also against the law in most countries as well as a major rule here. Plagiarism will result in an instant permanent ban without a debate. (Though if you post something by someone else and say, clearly the author's name, for a discussion topic that's fine. Eg, a book extract to discuss or newspaper article.) Seriously threatening/harassing a member, so much that they may leave or feel too scared to post work etc. Any form of cyber-bullying will be punishable so if you are having problems, please don't feel scared to contact a staff member or another member.
