One month to go . . . !

For those who don't know, it stands for NAtional NOvel WRIting MOnth, and you have exactly one month (November) to write 50,000 words of a novel. Sound shard, right? Well it's actually 1667 words a day, which is easier than it sounds. Nano takes guts, a lot of sugar and caffeine. But it's awesome fun and you gte a novel to edit at the end of it. :)

So is anyone here doing it? If so, post updates here to let everyone know who you're getting on with planning ideas, preparation and the writing when November comes. :)

I'm doing NaNo, but I don't have any idea yet. I'll post my word counts here, though. I'm planning to do an extensive outline so that I don't have to do as much rewriting as I know I'll have to do for my current novel.

I'm doing NaNo. In fact, The NaNoWriMo site is where I got the link to here.
I've never gotten more than 5 chapters into a story so this is a little intimidating. (a little? understatement. of. the. century.)
I'm hoping this will make me a better writer and be able to actually finish a story.
Gah! I have a 'bedtime' like a little kid so i hardly ever have time to write.(it's 9:00, suckishly) I have about 3 hours on the computer a day. Do you think this is enough time to write 2000 words?
Ps. I just outlined my NaNo story with sticky notes and a sharpie.
Pps. these are amazing, nay, inspiring, smilies. :poopyhorse: There needs to be a purple orange one though.

^ I missed NaNo WriMo last year, so I did a spin-off during January. All of the "novels" that I'd try to write before then were barely more than a few pages. I won with 50,000 words during JanNo WriMo, so don't underestimate yourself. :P

3 hours is plenty of time. I write in 500 words bursts, and I only need about an hour and a half to write the quota for the day.

Good luck!

EDIT: By the way, are you on the NaNo site or YWP? I'm on the YWP site because I'm too young to join on the regular site (only by 1 year, though :P ).

Last year was my first Nano, too, and I'm glad my advertising over there's worked, it's great to have you.

If you find it hard to write a lol in one go, then you could always write in a notebook throughout the day, then type it up in your three hours? That way you don't have to panic about finishing before you have to turn the computer off. My mum did a lot of 'flicking the switch' on me last year.

I use sticky notes, too. I stick them all over my bedroom wall. xD

Oh, and I'm glad you like the smilies. I always find forums don't have enough interesting ones. The blue orange has it's own story, though, which is rather long and complicated and involved much spam between myself and our other mod, Majyk. It's an exclusive smilie, too, because I coloured it, (That's why it's got the stupid white box around it - my tech skills aren't very homed) so you won't find one anywhere else. :blueorange:

Oh, and what's a sharpie?
:blueorange: Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum Yummm!

Haha i was going to change all my accounts over to 'theblueoranges' because I loved it so much. That would also be a good name for a band. It's beautiful, btw. :blueorange:

I was old enough to enter on the regular NaNoWriMo site. I'm going to be 14 24 hours before NaNo starts. (Halloween baby!)

And excuse my language but, How the hell do you not know what a sharpie is? Are you, like, british or something? It's a brand of permant marker and pretty much amazing. Sharpies are on my list of the best things ever.

The blue orange made me think of Green Apple flavored Bunnies. (long story)
I burst out laughing today in the middle of school because of something that happend in July.

My parents go to bed at 8 (to get up at for and 5) and so no one can 'flick the switch' mwahaha. I don't like writing by hand I have to be able to go back and add stuff in and such.

Hehe, I should seriusly consider copyrighting that orange. xD My username on the Nano site is Blue-Orange because when I signed up last year, my usual username, Lykaios, was already taken. :P

If you write by hand during the day and then copy what you wrote to your computer during the three hours, you'll then have time to add bits and fiddle around with it on the computer because typing up what you've already written won't take as long as writing straight out on a time limit. I'm not very partial tpo writing by hand either, but when you've got such a tight time limit, it helps to have already got ideas down. Up to you though.

Oh, and yeah, I'm British, so that'd be why I don't know what a sharpie is, hehe. :P

I don't name things. :P I'm weird like that.

Only two more days and a few hours, people! Outlines done? Nervous? Excited?

I fall in the "nervous" category. Occasionally, my ideas turn out to be problem novels that I can't finish, so I just hope that doesn't happen, because it would completely ruin my NaNo. I decided a while ago to come up with a backup idea just in case the first one doesn't work out, but I really don't have much time...
