"The truth? Even humans take care of their elderly. So do we, and wouldn´t it be for the fire in the slums caused by the siege, many would be still with us. The battles between humans only bring us suffering, and it is our turn to stop it," he replied.

He wasn´t much happy about her reply, but he still kept his face. The truth behind it all was -indeed, just like any other thief guilds- Children of the Night were amassing forces.

"Well, I will leave that on you. Just be warned that no matter how it looks now, this place won´t be becoming much more friendly, rather otherwise... we have our info that doesn´t speak about too happy tomorrows. Right now, the city is calm because of all the people that left. Actually... do watch out. They call themselves Flameblades and they began to use really nasty ways how to kill us out. Luckily, you can recognise them easily, they usually wear clothes with an eye drawn in triangle... hey, what did you mean with that book and cover?" he slowly approached her, tilting his head curiously.

'Thanks for the warning' Maya said with a small smile. 'But I think I can take care of myself for now.'

Maya glared at him for a moment, taking a few steps away from him as he came closer. How did he know that? She hadn't said it out loud. 'I don't know what you're talking about' She said simply.

'But how come that the leader of a thief guild approach a newling? Don't you have people for that?' Maya asked. She still had difficulty believing that someone like him, or at least the way he looked now, was the leader of a grand thief guild.

"How could come a leader of a guild to approach a newling? Let me see..." he continued stepping towards her with an amused smile on his face, swinging his tail playfully. "It is a bit different in the guild. It needed a leader after we started to be a bit more organised... and the other two guys simply didn´t put up enought of a fight to defend their ideas," he grinned softly.

He tried how close she will let him, and eventually got her to a situation she couldn´t back further because there was a wall behind her. He leaned with his hand next to her, somewhat pinning her to the wall.

"Or perhaps... for a bit more personal reasons, too? Hehe..." he looked on her before backing some: "Anyways, if you would need anything, ask any saphyne in the slums. They will know where to find me. Keep your eyes open!" he turned away, waving to her over his shoulder before disappearing in one of the side alleys.

Maya would listen, still moving when he moved. When he had pinned her against the wall, her hand moved down under her skirt, her hand wrapping around one of her daggers though not pulling it out just yet. Not yet, she thought to herself

'You keep yours open too' Maya said a bit casual to him, looking at him before he disappeared. She should open her ears a bit more around here she thought to herself, trying to find some more information about this guild. Always interesting to know she though to herself.

She moved her bag with jewellery and money onto her back before moving her hood over her head. She walked out of the alley, eventually disappearing in the crowd of people who were doing there daily business. 'Now I just have to find a good dealer' Maya muttered softly.

As she moved through the city, the feel she could get from her surroundings changed. She got farer from the damaged quaters close to the walls, and into parts where there was less empty houses left for looting. Still, there were very few people outside in the streets, as the long, winter night was nearing. Here in Aiekara, it rarely snowed. The temperature drops in the winter here weren´t as drastic as further to the west, but the nights brought cold that was not pleasant for people who were used for warm climate during the rest of the year...

A rather unusual sight came to her eyes.

One would probably just pass by it if it was just the weird sign. There was a building, a tavern probably, considering its looks. It stood just on the edge of the destroyed part of the city, the huge levelled path through which the Crystal was pulled out of Aiekara. The sign on it was strange, indeed, because it was saying "Lucky or unlucky, welcome to-" and the rest of it was missing. But there was more.

There was a female saphyne, standing on a ladder leaning towards a wall, trying to climb on its roof. That alone wouldn´t be so strange, if she wouldn´t have a box of tools in her hand. She seemed to have some trouble getting on the roof and switched to hold the box tool by her tail before she finally got over the edge, and then she stopped. She turned back and looked down on the street, there were several wooden shakes laying next to the ladder. It seemed she was really going to repair the roof. Why would a saphyne ever do such thing?

"Um... hello?" she spoke to Kyara, "could I ask you... do you think you could handle me those, please?" She pointed down to the street to the pieces of wood she forgot there.

Maya would look around while on her way, she was here about a week now and she still hadn't seen everything of the city yet. It seemed that every time she came somewhere, the whole place would have changed dramatically in her eyes.

So she would look interested when she saw the curious building, smiling when reading the sign. She looked up when she saw the saphyne climb on the rooftop, a small smirk around her lips.

When the saphyne spoke to her, she looked from the girl to the stuff on the ground ''Sure, just a moment then' Maya said. She would walk to the wooden shakes displayed on the ground, starting to hand the girl the shakes with slight effort, waiting for her to take it out of her hands.

'Can I ask you a question? What are you planning to do?' Maya asked curious

"Thank you," she took the shake from her hand and smiled. "Oh... me... well, there is a hole in the roof. And master- em... Temsu asked me if I could repair it, since he has not been feeling really well lately."

She turned and walked on all four towards the place where the hole probably was, returning for more of the shakes. Now, after seeing her more closely, Kyara could recognise she had a bit of a belly, and a one that was for sure not caused by eating too much.

"I never saw you around here," she said in a friendly tone to her. "Sure, I am not too much outside and when I am I don´t walk around the city too much, but could I ask - are you new here? Or maybe you live in different part of the city?"

'Glad I could help.' Maya said with a smile. '‘Seems more like a job for… well not somebody in your condition?' Maya suggested after she noticed that the saphyne had a belly.

‘But do you need any help with that, I'm not busy anyway.' Maya offered. She was a bit bored at the moment.

'I moved in the city just a week ago, so no wonder you haven't seen me yet.' Maya said with a smile, answering her question first.

She frowned a bit when the saphyne said her second to last sentence. 'Why wouldn't you get out much, it's not that bad here?' Maya asked, still curious about the motives and ways of the girls. She usually didn’t talk much with other saphynes like this, not after her history with her guild. And besides, Maya thought to herself, the saphyne seemed different from the ones she was used to.

"Heh, you mean... this?" she passed with hand over her belly with a smile. "Well... Temsu is in no shape to climb up in here on his own. So it is up on me to do the job."

She took another shake from Kyara. "Thank you," she bowed to her slightly. "I wouldn´t expect anybody to help me, the city is so busy last days... with all that is happening..." she turned back again, going higher on the roof and then returning back to her.

"You know, that´s one of the reasons why not to get outside too much. And Temsu needs my help here at the tavern, too. And well, I am not much used to be outside. Before, I was in the laboratories, and I couldn´t go outside too much. And then, ..." she paused for a bit, perhaps thinking for a moment: "I usually go outside just to shop for the tavern from time to time, and to go to one place outside the city. Do you know the small group of trees on the small hill on the south from here?" She was quite excited about talking to someone from the outside. As she said, she didn´t expect to meet anybody during doing her job.

"Oh, and do you like it here in the city?"

'What's wrong with him then, that he can't even climb up here?' Maya asked her interested, still looking up to the saphyne. She moved her hand over her eyes for a moment, the sun shining a bit in her eyes when she looked up like that.

‘I don't mind to help, like I said I don't have any urgent business to take care off so…' Maya said again with a smile. 'Where could you need a hand?' She asked her, not going to be turned down twice.

Maya followed the girl with her eyes, more out of habit and interest than anything else. 'And then…?' She asked, urging her to finish her sentence. She was always interested in what people left out to say, seeing it was most of the time more interesting then the whole sentence the person did say.

Maya thought about it for a moment. 'I don't think I know that place. But then again, I haven't explored everything in this city yet. She seems to change everyday.' Maya said with a s mile.

'Well, for me it is a very…nice city' Maya said with a small smirk. Very profiting she added in her mind. 'How do you like it?' She asked, returning the question.
