"We agreed, leader. The Hawks will not give up their autonomy, but for the sake of Aiekara and principles we believe in, we will work for the needs of Hvevot Erdri and gather the information you request with the highest priority before others. We will act as eyes and ears in your campaign, watching your enemies and allies alike, telling you everything about what they do. You have my word. May your - and our goals, alike, become true." --- Two days ago... --- It was the middle of night. Aiekara outside this strange, one would say scary room was sleeping. This place was closed and locked up shortly after the victory and beginning of occupation of Aiekara by the Teimzurr Empire. Until now. A group of mages, clearly belonging to the Dark Order, requested it to be unsealed just a few hours ago. The local authorities of the city with their limited rights, indeed, couldn´t oppose them, so there was no problem for the members of the organisation that openly resented life to access some of the most sophisticated magical devices ever created on whole Iralthia. This room was the Aiekarian laboratory for creation of artificial iontae. "We are ready," one of the figures said. The laboratory was kept in dark, only a few shadows and silhouettes visible in a weak, coldly blue light. Another proof that the beings present in here were dark mages, capable of seeing through the darkness... and that there was, very likely, a banshee with them. Muttering in a strange language, sharp and unpleasant for the ear of living. Kenthra, the language of the dead. Several words spoken with great emphasis. Possibly a spell. An intense flash of light. An oddly dark-violet light, the colour of the darkest nether. It reflected jagged shadows of several mages and arcane machines on the walls, and in a mere second it was gone. Somebody took a deep breath. The weak, cold blue light in the room grew stronger. "How do you feel, Sutekh?" one of the voices asked. "A little... strange... but... good," another one answered. It sounded deep and it echoed strangely, from the all the creatures it could be compared to it was a lot like banshee´s talk... a male one. "Should we procceed then?" "Do as I requested and as your master promised me. Bring me back the way I wanted to be and what I sacrificed my mortal body for." Further talk in kenthra. A ritual or a spell, perhaps. The other present mages started to manipulate with the ´machines´ present in the laboratory. Soon, these apparatuses woke up to life, numerous tubes and bulbs filling with odd, coldly glowing light... perhaps caught inside some liquid...? Then, the light within the tubes started to change. From cold blue to yellow, red... the one of the colour and warmth of fire. The room was lit up by its glow, and finally, one can see... A mage, one of a high position within the Dark Order. Unlike her two helpers, probably lower members, she was unmasked, her face and head clearly visible. She had a fair, young face and long straight hair running down on the rest of her cloak, nearly all the way down to the back of her knees. While she was performing some sort of a long, complicated spell over the subject table together wish a banshee floating by her side, the two helpers looked over the running laboratory machines. None of this, however, reached the horrendous look of their subject. There was no body, as one would expect. Only a few, scattered parts of an armour, a helmet, cuirass and hand and leg protectors, metal imbued with small crystals of krystalline. And, inside that - as one would expect a person - a ghosty entity formed out of nether, having the shape of man. Slowly, the freezing blue nether in his body was replaced by the fiery element, turning him into an eerie figure formed by flames, wearing the armour. "It is done," the female mage stated when she finally lowered her hands aimed on the fiery figure, finishing the spell. "The time was chosen right, the full moon is helping us - and carrying out your wish." "Finally..." the man sat up on the table, looking on his raised arm while the two mages shut the laboratory equipment down. "I knew that I could trust people of your expertise!" "We did all according to our agreement," she bowed slightly. "Now, do you remember the terms of it, Sutekh, master of Flameblades?" "Yes... once I make my return to the head of the guild, I will take my members to become eternally living, as well... and wage war against our common enemies!" "That is right," she smiled. "But let me remind you - don´t openly attack the saphynes. Officially, they are under protection of the Empire and our order, as well..." "But unofficially?" "...you are free to kill them, as long as nobody sees you. And if so, our members are free to punish you - and later, in secret, revive you. We will gain complete trust of them." "And then... perform a killing blow to those who do not know their place in this world!" All of these events taking place deep in the laboratory should´ve remained secret. But little did its participants know that somebody was there, that somebody was watching them... and by the time the mages left the place to seal it again, rejoicing on how greatly their plans worked, the message about them and their activities was already on the way to the Hawks - and, eventually, Hvevot Erdri. |
