The journey back to the Capital wasn´t a pleasant one. Not at all.

The trio got caught in a snowfall and a biting cold. The surface of Rainy Highlands they walked on was frozen and often resembled a cold, slippery mirror just with a few stones sticking out of its solid surface.

Finally, the silhouette of the Imperial Capital came out of the grey cloudy horizon infront of them. Its roofs were covered in snow. One could barely guess what daytime it was, since sun was not visible at all behind the cloudy sky that melted into a single grey ceiling above their heads.

"We are... here?" Nive whispered silently as he wearily raised his head to look up on the blurry shade of Tirigrel´s statue high above the city infront of them. He had to hold his hand above his eyes, shielding from the neverending falling snow.

Meanwhile, Nirka already talked to the guards at the gate. They nodded to her whispers and gestured Firrah and Nive to come in. They were clear to go.

"Sssso..." she floated alongside Firrah, "do you plan to rest somewhere, or should we go directly to the mages? I know where to find Allegia..." After looking behind him, she added: "your mortal ´friend´ here seems he could use some warmth and a bed..." she pointed on Nive. He was barely moving his legs and shaked in the cold metal imperial soldier armour, bags under his eyes.

Looking back over his shoulder to look at the boy, Firrah smile a little when he saw Nive shivering and chattering to himself.

"We'll go to an inn or something grab some dry warm clothes then we will shall head off to the Mages. The anticapation is overwhelming I will get what I so desperately want."

After a little moment of silence he felt his body humming with excitement, then his mind drifts off to something else.

"Nirka, if you want a body why don't you just possess a woman then I give you the necklace. Wouldn't that work?"

Nive looked on Firrah for a moment, shaking and looking back to the ground soon after. After he and Nirka finally started moving again, he followed them, stumbling on the street.

"I could do that..."
she spoke, "if you give me the necklace?" she pointed on his chest. "Still..."

"...can you deal with Allegia and Ngye yourself? I could take it and leave, but I wouldn´t like you to blackmail me if you get into trouble later..." she laid down in the air, turning around, her image floating freely above the heads of the few people in the streets. "To Righan´s Hideout then?" She turned in the air again, looking somewhat more happily in her own banshee way.

"I know you won't leave because I will hunt you down, you wont be able to possess anyone else. I will come for you. I don't make threats I make promises. If you help me with this I will let you go free and you will never hear from me."

Firrah looks at her, for the first time in his life he is actually telling the truth. He looks over to the boy.

"I'm not sure what I am going to to do with the boy.. Maybe kill him afterwards." Firrah says casually.

She grinned when she heard his remark about hunting her down and her not being able to possess somebody. She knew the truth was different. She knew that if she wanted, she could actually just possess him and leave this place.

Yes, that would work. Or-

Wait! The armour! She shouted on herself how stupid she was in her mind. She didn´t realise that, but now, when he was wearing it, it would be harder to kill him. She couldnt reach through the neeva-made metal, she couldn´t kill him on one hit... and trying to do so might be a risk of the necklace being destroyed.

No.

Hmph. And after all, she was already sticking with him for a while... so why not a bit longer?

"I will help you." she said. "I have served the Dark Order for a long time, but the way it is organised has changed. I am myself, not a slave of the mages. They do not treat us as they should. Sssso-"

She paused after his remark about Nive.

She kept silence for a while, all the way until they reached the inn they were in before.

"Let the boy come inside first, there is something I have to tell you before we go after Ngye..." she whispered to his ear. After gesturing surprised Nive to go inside by her tattered etheral hand, she continued silently:

"I am afraid I cannot let you do that. There is... something I found out about him that doesn´t let me."

With that, she floated into the inn.

"Good, then you will be free after we do this." Firrah says, "Don't worry Nirka we will kill them all, not because I like you, just because they know who I am."

Looking at the Banshee curiously then to the boy, nodding his head into the direction of the inn Firrah grabs the boys arm and whispers savagely in his ear.

"Grab a seat near this window so I can keep an eye on you. If you speak to ANYONE I will throw you onto a fire, do you understand what I just said? Do you believe me."

Firrah keeps in plain view of the window looking into the warm inn, his hand on his axe handle he carefully looks at the banshee out of the corner of his eye, Firrah whispers quietly.

"What did you find out?"

Nive stared at Firrah threatening him, leaving out a few hardly recogniseable words "I d-do sir!" before walking in the inn as much calmly as he could pretend to be. Sitting at the table, he decided it won´t be bad to order a warm soup... also, will produce far less unwanted attention.

"Partly found out and partly deduced from my knowledge," the banshee said silently, giving Firrah a mysterious look. There was far more behind those etheral eyes, she knew lots of things she didn´t say. Perhaps that was the reason she didn´t want to become a soul bonded inside some necromancer´s staff.

"His talens are not likely to be coming from a full-blooded human. He is either a half-neeva or full neeva boy," she said, floating in tight circle around the warrior. "Same race as I used to be," she said with a strange face for a banshee.

It was a caring, happy expression.

Watching Nive walk in and sitting down, Firrah watches him get his bowl of soup.

"Come on Nirka hurry it up, just tell me what you know." Firrah whispered back angrily, not looking at her.

Hearing the news that Nirka informed in him about the Nive might have been Neeva or half-Neeva. Firrah shrugged and looked like he wasn't interested at all. But when he saw Nirka smiled and looked caringly, Firrah looked at her fully and suspciously.

"What's so special about him? Could he be a friend of yours? Or possibly your child? Or could he help you get your real body back?"

Firrah speculated this then looked at Nive through the window looking at the boys face, then back at Nirka's trying to search for a resemblence.

She left out an ironic chuckle when he ordered her ´to tell everything she knew´.

"I am over thousand years old, do you really expect me to?" she laughed silently. A banshee laugh. Something that would any living being nearby jump up with goosebumps.

"Child... friend... no way, don´t be ridiculous. But, seeing him... brings up memories. Way before humans even existed. Before the Dead Schism..." She crossed her hands on chest, just the way she always did before disappearing.

"But good luck in trying to find some resemblance between the two of us, I am nothing more than a shadow of my former self... at least for now," she added. Then, her visible ´body´ faded out. Apparently, she noticed Firrah´s looks between her and Nive.

Nive watched Firrah from over his bowl of soup nervously. Deep inside his mind, he was trying to figure what the old warrior has in mind, why does he insist on going to the dark mages... he wasn´t deaf. He caught some pieces of information from the dialogues between Firrah and Nirka...

"Anything else aside of the soup, sir?" a waitress asked Firrah. "A meal, drink, perhaps?"

Growling with anger, Firrah doesn't answer Nirka he just stares at Nive then entering the Inn scanning around the establishment taking in faces, smells and sounds. When adressed by the waitress Firrah looks her up and down.

"Beer." Pointing where Nive is sitting, "At that table, two tankards. Now."

Firrah brushes past her. Takes a seat infront of the boy watching him intently and critically, judging his actions, calculating. Like a hunter would while stalking his prey.

"Enjoying yourself?" Firrah asks with no emotion.
