Two days ago... Another rainy and dark winter night in the Capital. The weather was anything but pleasant, but that didn´t bother a single person in the meeting room of the imperial palace. Here, in one of the upper floors of the huge building, a monthly meeting of landlords with the Emperor took place. The room wasn´t the biggest one in the palace, but it still held enough space for a long, heavy wooden table. It was deacorated with hundreds of items from the Empire´s treasury, from beautifully ornamented carpet, paintings and tapestries on the walls to golden chandelliers and armours of knights standing just like they would be guarding people in the room. The best of what the Iralthian superpower could provide. Emperor Garvez and his councellor sat at head of the table. Everyone present seemed to have made sure that they will wear the most representative clothes they could, even the head of the Teimzurr Empire was wearing traditional armour of the Teimzurr kings, samurai-like outfit with a long sword attached to his waist. "We are still waiting for the Chancellor of Aiekara Garix Anaecia to come," said Sayr, the councellor of the Emperor himself, in a rather annoyed tone. He was talking to a small orb of dark glass settled on a low pedestral on the table infont of one of the chairs. It was quite a common thing that the representatives of regions in the Empire didn´t come on their own. Since the Dark Order offered their ´seeing spheres´ to the nobility, less and less of them could be seen at the meetings personally. Some tho, especially the ones from neighbourhood of the Capital, still preffered to come and meet eachother physically. There were five persons sitting behind the table aside of the Emperor and Sayr, the rest were here through the spheres. "I can hear you very well, Sayr. It is nice to-" "Your Highness?" the councellor turned to Garvez. "Hmph. For the last time, Lionir, I don´t want to talk with you!" the Emperor raised his voice. "You are no longer the ruler of Aiekara. Accept the fact and leave this meeting at once!" "You would have to kill me to stop my people from thinking of me as the head of Aiekara and you know that very well, Garvez. I don´t care about this, tho... I wanted to talk with you." "This is an official meeting. If you want to talk with His Majesty Emperor Garvez on your own, you can at another time," remarked Sayr. "Listen to him. Leave, please." "I was told precisely that numerous times. I want to let my old friend know how saddened I am by-" "I don´t care!" This time, Garvez raised on his feet and hit the table with a closed fist. "You should be aware of the crimes Aiekara commited towards the Empire! You are no longer my ´friend´", he put a distasted stress on the word. "Leave! Now!" his voice skipped in anger. "Very well. There´s only one more thing I´d like to tell you: I know that something strange is going on in there. And no matter what it truly is, I won´t hesitate to use all my strenght to-" "Shut up already!!" All the people around the table covered themselves in fear. The Emperor took out his blade and cut against the sphere angrily. It jumped aside under the pressure and fell down the table, shattering into pieces. "Please, please calm down, my lord!" Sayr immediately raised on feet. He helped the Emperor sit back on his chair. The head of the Teimzurr Empire breathed heavily, exhausted... he was an old man, after all. "Sayr... my councellor... please..." he coughed, "I am tired. Please, finish the meeting without me. I will go rest..." "Yes, Your Majesty," he nodded and helped him to stand up. The sword in the Emperor´s hand fell down on the floor with a loud cling. "You have to watch out, that idiot had no clue what he was doing." The Emperor slowly walked to the door with his help. He forgot about the weapon, he held on the wall by one hand to stay still. "Thank you..." he said silently before leaving... The room went silent after he left. Sayr sat back on his place, not saying a thing. "Is... his Majesty still ill?" one of the nobles asked cautiously. "Yes. We thought that the illness was gone, but it is still there. That´s why I usually don´t let people talk with him directly," Sayr said. He seemed to be thinking, looking at the cut in the table where the sphere stood. "Midnless fool from Aikeara!" somebody else in the room cursed. "I wonder if it really wouldn´t be better if he died during the siege!" "Yes... I think it would. He would cause far less trouble..." "Why don´t you have him executed? He is violating the laws of the Empire, anyway!" "Yes, he is..." Sayr rubbed his chin. "The world without the regent of Aiekara would be-" "Sir?" the door to the room opened and a servant came in. "Is His Majesty here? I brought him his medicine." "Oh? No, no. He left to his chambers just a moment ago," he gestured the boy to go away. "Hmmm... strange. I didn´t see him at the corridor..." "Well, then you have a bad sight, boy. Now, go. We have an important meeting here. I´m sure he will be at his bedroom." ==================================================== |
