Once again, long winter night fell on Aiekara. Cold, freezing air was blowing above the city, a sign for its inhabitans that there might not be snow yet, but spring is still far...

The slums outside the eastern walls of the city were quiet. It seemed like they would be no livining soul in them, they were burned to the ground during the siege of Aiekara, after all. But still, new improvised houses stood on the soil still covered in ashes, mostly tents or dwelling constructed of scrap materials. Tens and tens, possibly even hundreds of them.

Spectre, Denise and several other members of Hvevot Erdri climbed on the gate. They were only eight, but that should be just enough to intervene in case of the situation getting out of hand. They all knew it.

Two city thief guilds, Children of the Night and Flameblades, will fight here. Today. Possibly just in a moment.

"Everyone ready in here?" Spectre looked around, crouching on the edge of the wall. "Alright... lets do it before we are spotted. Shadow?" he turned towards a figure in black robes standing on the wall next to him "Do it."

It came nearly immediately. The air around the members of Erdri quivered for a few seconds... and they were gone. At least for anyone watching them.

"Not sure if you met him earlier," he whispered to Denise "Shadow is our dark mage. No one should be able to see us unless we move too much or the spell is broken." Then he turned back to watch the slums under them.

As far as one could see, there was nothing going on, aside of a few reflections of dim light in saphyne eyes running from one dwelling to another in the darkness.

"Could it be possible that the Hawks sold us a wrong information?" a man with a crossbow and symbol of a cross and letters HE on his sleeve whispered.

"No, no way. Rats said the same. And our informers did, too. That would be just very unlikely... Denise? Can you feel any mage around?"

During the way to pick up the people and get to the slums denise had also gathered her items and long cloak since it was really getting cold now, she had drawn it over her face not all the Hvevot Erdri members had to know who she was.

When climbing on the gate she then took in her surroundings and looked around crouching some.
So the wind would not hit her to full effect but still able to view her surroundings.
When hearing the signal she quivered for a second, because she felt the magic she felt a small net cover her and her surroundings.

Because they where intending of hiding she mentally ordered baldrog to use his power to control the air to divert the flow so there group smell would be drifting away to a remote location on some rooftops nearby, so if there where scouts tracing, they could see them looking for people on that spot.

“R.. Spectre I made baldrog divert our group smell to those rooftops” she pointed.

“If they use scouts we can see them trying to find us by our smell around that area..”

Humans smell funny, she heard baldrog say in the back of her mind, which made her grin abit.
She then focused on the magical energies around her, with some trying she did indeed find some sources of magical residue.

“Some mages should be coming” she sayed while focusing on the slums again, I should get a nickname to she thought.

"Uhh, didn´t think about that..." he remarked silently. "Good job with that-" He got interrupted when steps of two persons could be heard under the gate and stopped just behind the walls outside, looking around. "Are those Flamesblades?" Spectre whispered. "I see no guild insignia, I thought they love to wear some..."

"No..." Shadow shook by head calmly. "Those are dark mages. I can recognise it."

"Hmmm, maybe Dark Order? Did Nikka summon them, as their imperial allies?"

"Seems so," Shadow pointed down on a saphyne figure walking down the street towards the dark mages.

"I come here with thanks from out leader," the saphyne said and bowed to them. "He is glad that you came for our aid in this dark hour."

No reply came. The dark mages kept looking around, like ignoring his presence.

"Is something wrong?" he asked.

"No, artificial being. We are trying to spot the danger you asked us to protect you from. So far, we see nothing."

"May I ask how many of you are here?"

"Not more than that is needed to protect you from something that may not be coming," the mage replied shortly.

"Well, we are quite sure that-"

A fireball flew through the meeting group. An orange flash of light brightened the night slums, crashing deep through the improvised houses.

"Attackers! Attackers! Everyone, to arms!" The word spread quickly. The area wasn´t void of life, not at all. Numerous silhouettes ran on the rooftops with visible weapons in their hands, everything from shortswords and daggers to bows. They ran towards the gate.

A single mage stood right behind the archway of the gate. He was dressed in bloodily red, with numerous inscribtions and crooked lines on his cloak. It was him who cast the first spell, and nearly ten of others from Flameblades stood behind him.

"Come here, Night scum! Let us show you how does it feel when you..." he raised his hands impulsively. "Burn!".

Right at that moment, a huge firewall stood before the saphyne masses. The cat-people stood like frozen, staring at the fire.

"A-hahaahahahaaa! Come and get them, brothers and sisters!"

"Is he really that crazy? Would a leader of Flameblades come to be seen that easily?" Spectre whispered, watching how the mages behind the man started to fire their own spells through the firewall against the saphynes.

"Some people have numbers they trust, so they do not feel the need to hide"

Denise remarked softly and moved abit to watch when the people started gathering together, she saw some movement on the roofs but her attention got pulled back when the dark mage started speaking.

"So much for allies if they call you artificial beings.."

Denise watched the fire mage.

"Well, he has a fancier dress then most of them he feels stronger then some of them, but it could be a trick and spectre if the flameblades are suspected to be allianced to the imperial, why do they come to help the furries? The line of good and bad is fading"

She remarked again while keeping her voice down, also settling herself again to focus on the firemages and also be able to shift her view to the furries if needed

"Also he as a big ego, cause of the way he talks" was her final conclusion

"No, think about it..." he narrowed his eyes, watching the ongoing fight. "The fireball that hit the saphyne and the two mages was cast by that fancy-looking maniac. Imperials are their allies, or at least in this city. It is just strange that-"

"...lethum!"

"Watch out!" he cried out and pushed Denise down to the wall. The gate next to them exploded in a flash of poisonously green light.

"Tell me, how can anyone like this stupid city?" a very well known high-pitched woman voice said in an annoyed tone. "People in here should seriously learn some discipline, just like everyone other in the Empire."

She stood there between the ruins of the gate, last pieces of rubble from the blown-up structure falling down around her. Gueira, "Emperor´s Banshee", the undead witch-general of the Teimzurr Empire.

She got all attention of the Flameblades that were spread around. All the spells ceased - except of the firewall holding the saphynes back. Their leader stood voiceless.

"Stop, dammit!" Spectre whispered and pulled back one member of his team who tried to aim his crossbow at her. He himself stood in a low stance, nearly laying on the wall. The last thing he would need was to be spotted by her. "We don´t have enough force here to deal with them all. Just sit back and don´t dare to do something stupid! ...at least for now."

All of the Flameblades aimed their hands on her. They were ready to attack the intruder, no matter how powerful she was.

"Very, very well." she sighed. "Let me teach you," she raised her right hand slowly, holding her wand freely between her index and middle finger. "Lesson one: do not point like that on somebody who could kill you by a single, tiny move," she said. None of the mages lowered their hands. "Still nothing? Oh, let me demonstrate then..."

She made a nearly invisible move by her index finger. Suddenly, one of the red mages collapsed to the ground with a loud cry, a greenish flash of energy skipping from his body to her wand.

"Kill her! Kill her now!" the leader of Flameblades shouted. His people immediately followed his orders.

A canonade of all kinds of destructive spells flew towards Gueira. Yet none hit her. All of them hit a strange, dark barrier infront of her... and were absorbed by it.

"Lesson two:" she dissolved the wall by a swing of hand infront of her, "it is useless to try and kill someone who is already dead." She looked into the surprised eyes of the leading red mage with an amused yet threatening grin. "You just won´t succeed."

"But you-!!!"

"Lesson three," she continued, "if you really succeed to kill someone from the True Order, they will come back. And these two were mine." She crossed the bony, pale hands on her chest and silently moved by her lips, saying a formulla without a single word. Two human bodies started to appear next to her, assembled piece by piece from nothingness. Bones, meat and robes, until the two mages killed by a fireball stood next to her again, moving and ´alive´.

"Do you need any more lessons, Aiekara trash?" she said and aimed her wand towards the Flameblades leader. "Because I could show you many interesting ways of death, if you wanted..."

"See? See?? Our allies came, finally!" a black saphyne with numerous scars over his face cried out from top of a roof behind the firewall. "Gueira herself came to save our people!" He had a light armour, a very unusual thing for his kind... no doubt, that was Nikka, leader of Children of the Night.

Gueira only grinned instead of a reply.

"Spectre?" the dark mage inside of Hvevot Erdri group whispered to his leader. "We might have a problem. The cloaking spell was broken by that explosion and if I cast another one, we will get their attention..."

"Don´t worry about that. Just don´t do any stupid thing," he answered silently. "We will watch and see. Stay quiet.

...can you understand why our leader didn´t want to help the saphynes directly?"
He asked Denise. "They can change their allies pretty quickly..."

Denise was listening to Spectre before being pushes, with a acctualy kinda stylish roll she was pushed against the wall and heard the gate crack, she gulped and tried not to move much she after regaining some of her sences crawled slowly back to see what was going on

“We should’ve picked a less shoot to demonstrate power spot to hide..”

With a small sigh, she then settled herself, the hairs in her neck rose when hearing the woman she had seen her upclose twice once during the siege, and one when trying to get back to the taken city after. None of those visits reminded her as rather pleasant.

She blinked after seeing the power of the witch and without realizing herself, cuddeled some closer next to the lying Spectre seeing the power of the witch was amazing, scary but amazing, if dark mages had so much power would it be the strongest branch? She knew of no iontante who could kill with just a simple thought even trauma could not kill people on its own by could torment them to do so themselves.

Baldrog could steal oxygen from a area, but that takes some time even when done in a hurry.
Channeling something back that fast would be near impossible, since you had to redirect the energy inside of the spell and before you could do that figure out what type it consist of and somewhat dominate it with your own inner strength to make do your bidding. But if she had those 2 undercontrole, then could this be planned out?

She looked at her fireproof bracelet and was thankful for it, it might just prove useful .

“Be carefully.. I have a bad side feeling about this, ..”

she chose to ignore the words of Ri to keep some silence in the group. But kept baldrog alive and invisible, only now ordering him to direct there scent to the flame wall so it would be burned and nobody could smell it

"I don´t really have a good feeling about this, either..." he whispered, frowning. "If we act, we are done for. If we don´t and nothing changes, those saphynes will follow the Empire. It´s like we really cannot do... anything." It was clear that he was rather frustrated by the way the things were going, none of the members of Hvevot Erdri even counted that Gueira herself would appear in this battle...

"So..." she cut the silence between her and the Flameblades, "according to the Imperial Aiekara Protection Laws, do you know what´s the punishment for killing or harming a saphyne?"

"It´s funny to see imperials bringing here laws that they themselves violate in their lands!" the leader of the red mages hissed back.

"Oh, are you going to question me, poor red mage?" She changed her stance and lashed by her wand infront of herself. Immediately, a stone barrier raised infront of the Flameblades´ lines. "Like a chicken, afraid by the tiniest move?" she chuckled. "If I have to remind you: Aiekara is belongs to the imperial lands now! Tempus temporis lethum!" She threw another killing spell against the wall.

But before it could hit, five another walls of stone raised from the ground into its path. All of them were broken into pieces. The spell didn´t hurt a single mage, tho.

The Flameblades leader grinned on Gueira. There was no ´strongest´ branch of magic, a skilled mage could use any to defeat his opponent...

"What are you going to do now, witch?" his grin turned into a maniacal laught. "Inferna!"

A column of fire cut through the night air straight against Gueira. It engulfed her, leaving her and the two dark mages no option to escape.

Denise moved some again, crouching instead of laying against a remaining rubble to still be hidden, she was watching the furries then back to the flameblades she muttered something quietly to herself before crawling back to spectre.

“Stone walls are not flame magic and, if the furries care to join the empire, and the flame blades seem willing to destroy it, why don’t we pick them as ally? With a well-aimed arrow of mister crossbow we can also get rid of their maniac leader and seize a ally by blaming it was a arrow of the furries?”

She frowned her eyebrows, politics were annoying what could be the gain of the dark order by protecting the furries, they were artificial beings made by magical essence, now she knows for a fact the empire is interested in magic cause they moved the crystal, probably the main reason for the siege in any cause.
But, what is the gain of destroying the flameblades they oppose the empire yes but if screamie had kept her dolls in place she could’ve sieged control for sure inside of the, giving them a potential devoted zealot army of pyromaniacs.

There’s a thing here I just cant see.. she thought moving back into reality.

“So.. what now? Soon they’ll start hitting etother again I’m sure”

"Those saphynes are nothing than confused," he whispered to her. "Just look on them," he pointed towards the still standing firewall, separating an armed crowd of ´furries´ from the Flameblades. "They are desparate to survive and will follow anyone who offers them help. And because the imperials offered them more than the regent, they just turned their backs on him." He stood up a little to see on the column of fire. Gueira was no where to be found inside it.

"But I don´t believe Flameblades, either... they are too agressive towards everyone getting in their way. They don´t have any official allies and don´t listen to anyone, just their leader..."

At the time he finished his sentence, the fire spell thrown against Gueira slowly weakened and disappeared. Her two minions could have been burned to ashes, but she was still there, just dissolving a barrier made of dark ether around her.

"I´m beginning to love that look on the face of yours, red mage," she said in a sarcastic tone. "But also, I am getting bored of how much time I am spending on you..."

She aimed her wand directly on the leader. "Tempus temporis lethum!" she said shortly.

The flash of dark green energy hit him directly into chest before he could even raise his arm to defend. He stood there voiceless, staring straigth into nothingness.

He fell on his knees.

He fell on face on the ground.

The firewall holding saphynes disappeared.

An armed crowd of half-human beings stormed on the remaining red mages that started to run away chaotically.

"Aaa... ha ha ha ha haaaaa ha ha!" A high-pitched, insane-sounding laught of the witch-general sounded through the slums. A victorious laught. She let his followers run away, not caring about them. She finished her work here.

"And he's now dead"

She sayed with a hint of being sarcastic, moving some again she watched the not moving body the victory of the furries and smirked, it seemed easy to kill a army, just take of its head.

"And instead of a organised group of pyromaniacs, we now got a unorganised group of pyromaniacs with a reason to hate.."

She sat down on the edge, so she could see the witch and the 2 helpers again, wondering why they were not leaving right away would they make a trust with the furries? Or would they now turn on them to. there was motive behind it all, but nothing she could see today.

"Maybe we should leave to before the scouts find this a perfect place see if they can find more flame blades?"
