The blacksmith gestured the boy to go with a mild smile, turning back to the visitor. Henoticed his upset look, but didn´t show any signs of being intimidated, he kept talking, ignoring the fact Firrah didn´t notice his question.

"...what brings you here, then?" he asked again, curious about the last Firrah´s question. "I can´t read, no, but there are people who can, sure..."

Firrah looks back at the blacksmith then at the cigar that was half way smoked. He hands it to Ryals and then picking up a knife and fork, before he starts eating he thinks about why he was here, the man had shown he can't read and proved useless to his cause.

"Well, adventuring does require some level of ability to read. I'm looking for someone who would be suitable for the job."

With that said, he began eating in between mouthfalls of food he took swigs of his whiskey, waiting for the blacksmith to ask more questions, maybe he might point Firrah in the right direction to an adventurer who could read.

He took the cigarette with a surprised look, not expecting something like that. "Do I understand you right, are you offering it to me?" It was probably a silly question to Firrah, but here these were very costy goods... and Ryal was not the kind of person to be able to afford more than a box or two for half year.

"Adventuring?" he asked. "Are you a traveller, then? Oh, and... what´s your name, stranger?" he offered him a hand over the table. "So I don´t have to call you ´stranger´ all the time... oh, and for the job? Only children of wealthy get that sort of education in here, or someone from the mages... or wait..." he paused to think.

"I believe that my neighbour´s grandchild is learning in the laboratories!"

"Smoking and eating doesn't mix all that well. I'm gonna get some more cigars anyways."

As he says this he takes another bite from his steak followed by a mouthfull of whiskey, as soon as he finished gulping the food and drink down, he listens to what the man says.

"My name is Firrah Duerurt." he whispers leaning in closer so no-one could listen in to their conversation, he leaned back into hsi chair. "I'm a traveller of sorts. Seeking adventure, I want someone who can cast spells, so when I'm in fighting they can keep me covered. Point me in a direction of a good mage, you can have this other cigar."

Firrah takes out his last cigar and reluctantly places it on the table. He then finishes the rest of the meal and waits for what Ryals has to say. The man was obviously happy about getting his cigar, another one should make him. . . extremely happy by his reckoning.

"Wow, wow, whoa...!" he couldn´t hide his surprise. "Pleased to meet you, Firrah!" he said hastily.

"Oh, a mage, you say? Hmmm..." It was visible that the blacksmith tried to remember anyone as much as he could, but he didn´t soon enough. Not before the cloaked figure from the corner of the tavern stood behind him.

"I am a mage," he said shortly, looking into Firrah´s face. Ryal froze in any motion, fully aware of who is standing behind him.

The man was not old in face, but it looked like... one half of skin on his head would be missing, together with his eye. The left side of his head he was hiding under the hood all the time was really nothing else than a skull.

Firrah froze when Ryals spoke his name loudly, he leaned in and whispered "You shouldn't say my name too loud. There are some people who might be interested in finding me."

He leaned back into his chair staring at Ryals for a moment with his menacing grey eyes. When the hooded and cloaked man approached the pair of them, Firrah instantly noticed how Ryal's froze in place. Firrah looked the man up and down, suming him, but when he saw the skinless part of the mans face, he smirked and wondered how that ever happened, but to Firrah's nature, he didn't care about it.

"So," Firrah began resting his hands on the back of his head "I'm looking for a mage, to lend me a hand. Are you freelance? And more importantly, can you read?"

Ryal crouched in his sit a little, no matter how strong man he was, the authority standing behind him made him to. He didn´t say a thing, but it was clear he was afraid of the way Firrah talked to the mage.

"Hmm, I see..." the mage said in a low voice. "I am not freelance, but I belong to an organisation that you could cooperate with. Or, in your current situation, one you actually should cooperate with," he put a distress on Firrah´s options. "It goes without question that I can read, if that is what concerns you, Firrah Duerurt."

Looking at Ryals for a moment, a sinister smile spreads across his face.

"What's wrong Ryals? You seem a little scared."

Firrah then returns his gaze back upon the mage with missing skin (which Firrah finds rather amusing), after hearing what he says he looked at the mage for a moment. Firrah smirked a little and scratched his chin, in which he was thinking of an appropriate response that wouldn't lead to a fight.

"So you're not a freelance? Hmm, would your buddies mind if we went for a walk tomorrow? Or will they kick up a stink about you missing out on some important reading? Look I just need a hand with some. . . research at the library, so I suppose you won't be missing out on some reading, you might prove useful."

Firrah looked at Ryals, he signalled for him to leave the table, Ryals had served his purpose here and Firrah wanted nothing more to do with the man. But he did want that cigar back, he dismissed his gaze from the blacksmith and turned it back to the mage.

"And what glorious organization do you belong to?"

"I just..."

"That´s right. Get out of here, blacksmith. Now," the dark mage said shortly and coldly. "I need a little talk with this ´adventurer´ on my own," he added when Ryal stood up and slowly walked to another table, looking around, unsure what the mage will do. In the end, he joined others in their conversation.

"Research? Oh..." he remarked, still standing infront of Firrah. "We can go for a walk right now, depending on how will you act, Firrah Duerurt. I belong to the True or the ´Dark´ Order, as you might know it... and I do know very well who you are. Or are you going to deny the fact by yet another made-up story?" He calmly raised his right arm into the height where Firrah could clearly see a small ball of dark energy floating in his open palm...

At that moment, an image of deserted coliseum appeared in Firrah´s mind. Its cells were empty, its doors broken. Several bloody taints could be seen on its walls.

"I guess you recognise that, don´t you, our dear runaway?" He closed the palm, breaking the spell. "I give you two options: cooperate and get our help to pursue your goals, whatever they are - or be caught and sentenced to death. Which one will you pick?" the mage stared into his face. It was like the two halves of his face demonstrated the two options, one alive, the second looking straigth on him through an empty eye socket of death.

Watching Ryals get up and walk away, Firrah smiled he turned to look at the mage unimpressed by his appearance. Firrah cracked his neck suddenly and scratched his nose, he stood up slowly watching the near skinless mage.

"Let's move then, I'll behave myself seeing I have use for you. My kind of research is of a secret kind, it might have some dark elements so you might feel at home."

When the mage informs him about being a dark mage Firrah nods his head somewhat unimpressed, he looks up at the globe of darkness in his hand and shrugs. But when the image of his former prison filtered into his mind, he smiled as he saw the blood splatters and empty cells.

Firrah claps silently then he leaned in and whispered "You forgot the bodies. My handiwork as it 'twere."

Looking unphased by what the mage said, even though it was a threat that he knew the mage actually ment, Firrah looks at him and says "I think I'll work with you. I do value my life."

Looking at the man's so called face and smiled "Shave with a bad razor did you?"
