The mage together with Malik following made his way to the core of the city. One of the biggest building, built around the Crystal floating several metres above its central garden, stood before them. It seemed it was yet untouched by the Gueira´s destructive ideas, despite the great alley of levelled houses started right near its walls. "Is the regent in his workroom?" he asked while going through one of the entrance doors, passing by one of the mages. "Yes, but-" "Good," he continued in his way. He walked hastily, and stopped just infront of a large wooden door. "Now listen boy... I assume you´ve heard why I was in the prison and what connection it does have to this place and to the regent. I don´t bear illusions about him welcoming me with opened arms, and together with the situation the city is in now - it might get pretty nasty. Because of that, I would like to ask you to go first - and, well... prepare him for my presence. So, go." He pushed the door open from aside. There was a large hall behind the door, containing many library shelfs on its walls. As the door opened, a voice, eching in the hall, immediately asked: "Who´s there?" |

I walk into the room my face a neutral mask. "My name is Malik Wolfbane second year student in the academy. I aided in the defence of the gate attacked by the witch general. Me and my master seek an audience with you. Worried that his presence could provoke undue aggression. My master has sent me ahead to forewarn you of his arrival and let you know he comes under a flag of truce." Stepping aside and bowing slightly towards my master to enter. “I present into the presence of the noble regent of Aiekara. Garix former prisoner of the city of Aiekara.” I tense up awaiting the Reagents action. |

The regent was reading from some tome at the moment Malik walked in, but closed it and turned to the entrance door. "Well, I am glad you made it through the siege. Sadly, I cannot say..." he made a gesture by one of his hands, a half transparent shield of light appearing around him. "...you´ve chosen a right person to follow. But let´s see what the old "friend" can say." As the shadow mage walked into the room, several more magic walls appeared to protect the library as well as most of the room equipment. The regent was looking on him with a stone face. "So you dare to show youself in here, after all..." "I thought you will start with that accident..." "Accident? Do you call something that involves deaths of thirty people a mere accident?!" "...I thought I could help the city somehow. To atone for-" "Atone? There are things you cannot! Can you return life to someone!" He turned away from him, "are you finished talking?" "I am not," the mage added calmly. "What else then!" "I know I cannot appeal on that we used to be friends, a long time ago... but let me ask you, why have you surrended? Is that because of your personal feelings or to preserve safety to your people? For at least for a short time?" "What connection does it have to-" "Teimzurr accepted me as their will-look-after-this-city-and-report person. I have access to their plans - and I would share them with you, however if your personal... lets say... attitude toward me would let me." "Hmph..." the regent turned back to him, thinking. Meanwhile another person walked into the room, and passed around Malik. "So it is you who tried to attack their general, right?" he stopped near a book shelf. The shield seemed to have no effect on him. He had an odd mark on his forehead, a mark Arvith was known throughout the Academy for... |

"Yes that was me. I did not expect anyone to have heard of the fight. I guess tales spread fast. Sometimes I think that had I been stronger I could have changed the outcome. That Aiekara would still be free right now." (OOC: I am going to be gone for the next 3-4 days.) |

He picked a book and started turning its pages, looking for something. "They do... I think that even if everyone had been stronger... we could hold them off only for today." He finally found the page he was looking for. "Like... even if we had beaten them, they would dispatch another army from the west. It just angers one when is that much hopeless..." He returned the book back, sighting. "And that´s it! Even if the city is lost, we can lead a war again the Empire!" Garix immediately caught on an oppportunity. "Because they rely on me as the source of news what is happening in here! Or am I here the only one who wants to do something?" "You are not," the regent finally reacted. "But can you somehow prove you are standing on our side? You know what I mean - how can I know I can rely on someone who-" "Look. They are wanting to transport the Crystal to the Highlands. To the Capital." "Eeeveryone knows today!" Lionir replied with a sarcasm. "But they cannot move it through the Green Plains as they wanted, because there is a major slave uprising in there. " "How do you-!" "Gueira relies on that I want to take revenge for the prison. I do not. They must pass near the Lookout Hills - and there´s a nest of one very-well known group, at least between the guards..." "Wakenight. Yes." "Contact them. They might add some problems to the caravan." "So, I guess you´re from the Academy, too?" Arvith looked on Malik "...strange, I haven´t met you yet here." ((ay-aye, thanks for the note)) |

"I have not been here long and most my training had to be self taught. I am a dark mage. The academy does not willingly teach the art anymore. I had to learn a lot behind the backs of the teachers. I smile to myself. "I have learned many things from the forbidden sections of the academy. Things I will use to free this city.” I pause for a moment to look around at all the books before speaking again. "All this knowledge. It comforts me to know that so much was saved. However had we pushed the army back yes another would have been sent and it may have seemed hopeless but armies take time to move and be formed. We would have had more than enough time to create defenses that all the armies of the empire would not have been able to penetrate." I look at Arvith. "You are considered to be gifted. More powerful than any mage in centuries. The same way you excel at what you do I excel at dark magic. It is my greatest talent. I intend to someday become the most powerful mage that has ever existed to that I will have to train very hard. The empire may have won this day however as long as I live and breath I will fight till my last breath opposing them. I tell you this because I do not want you to lose hope as long as there is breath in your body you too can fight them.” I look at Gerix the Regent and Arvith. “As long as we hold hope in our hearts and make allies we can defeat the monster that is the empire. That is why we should all work together to fight against the empire each in out own ways. As allies and friends.” I look towards the regent. “I know what my master did and that is something you may never be able to put to rest but what you can do is call a truce and work with him for the good of your people.” I look at Arvith. “Become stronger than even you believe you can be. Reach your limits and push them farther than they have ever gone before. When the empire is pushed to the brink I would like to know I have you as an ally a truly powerful mage to stand and fight beside.” Looking at my master. “It may be you who will guide my growth but as you teach me so to will I help you to become stronger in heart and soul.” I walk a little ways from the three of them and turn around an air of command surrounding me. An air of power and wisdom beyond my years. “Reagent draft up some sort of letter me and my master will bring it to these outlaws you spoke of. We will enlist there help in stopping the caravan or at least slowing it down. Arvith you need to find your own resolve to fight and when you do. You will find your own way to fight the empire. Remember to never lose hope.” Standing tall looking into each persons eyes as I speak. “The empire is a bloated beast to long has it run freely trampling its way around and swallowing people in its great maw. I ask you here and now in this room to make your decision help me bring down the empire. We may seem weak now but that is because a great beast like the empire cannot be slain by a single hunter it must be destroyed by many. So join in the hunt and help bring the beast down. Here and now swear on you souls and on an unbreakable oath bound by magic that you will fight the empire. Even you my master must swear in this way there will be no doubt that we all stand together. Fighting the tyranny of the empire.” I stand the fever of power leaving my voice as I await the decisions of those in the room. I blink slightly aware that great words were spoken. Words that flowed from my mouth yet were not spoken by me. Quietly outside the crystal hums a beautiful note. Edited by Malik Wolfbane, 21 Jul 2009, 03:27 AM.

The three stood silent, Arvith and regent looking on Malik, Gerix smiling for himself. Not that like he would be laughing, not, it was rather a grin, agreeing with him. "Good to see not everyone feels that resigned as many of the citiziens..." the regent broke the non-talking. "We might talk about organising some resistance, assuming a certain person in this room won´t betray us." "...if I wanted, I would have alread did so," he remarked, turning to Malik. "There is however a problem. Teimzurr wants me to report almost every day to them. If I would take a part in a little adventure to the west, it would be easy to think out who si responsible for... a leak of information, I would say." He turned back to the regent, playing with a small black or in his hand, similar to the one Malik saw in Gueira´s tent. "But yes, I think Malik himself could go there and give them a hint. Or at least, try to find them." "Are you suggesting to send out a single still-half-student mage into the back of the West army?" "I´m not saying - only him," he looked on Arvith by side of his eyes. "A small group of two or three, maybe four people would be just fine. Small enough to pass unnoticed, but strong enought o survive." "I could go, too." The summoner took his chance of several second pause in the talking. "You? But do you know-" "I didn´t want to stand in the city, anyway. At least not now. And adding some problems to that machinery is just what I might want to do right now." "Are you sure?" "I am. There´s not much to do here for me, remember? If they want to move the Crystal out, a part of the Academy has to be levelled. I am not going to watch that." "Well I am not your trustee..." "Good," he added by a somewhat determined tone. "...then?" "...I can have a message for the Wakenight group ready in an hour or less, it depends on how long it will take to evacuate the to-be-destroyed part of the Academy. There are short time limits for us to do that..." "Nice. Since both me and I guess, Malik too, are having our little ´residence´ in Temsu´s tavern, I can hand the boys the letter once you are done with it." "Temsu´s tavern?" Arvith seemed to have a worried tone in his voice for the first time. "Is it-" "It is still standing," the mage replied like by the way. "I have some other things to solve with the regent, tho... so if you want," he nodded to Malik "...you can go now. Prepare things for the journey, I will meet with you at least once again till you leave." "Things for the journey..." Arvith talked to himself while pushing the door to leave. "I know a place." |

"I will be at the ready to leave anytime." Bowing to my master and the regent I leave the room. Watching as Arvith heads for his own supplies. I walk up to a window and look out at the path of destruction. Knowing where the tavern is I pick it out among the path of destruction. I take a deep breath. "Ombra Passo" My whole body lurches as I land in front of the tavern. I begin to grin I had indeed gotten stronger from the war. Perhaps I would someday get to fight the witch again. I head inside the inn and begin getting ready. The first thing I must do is get supplies. "Hello tavern master are you here?" |

=================================================================== There was another sign with the Teimzurr emblem on the doors to regent´s workroom: "In the name of the Teimzurr Emperor and Aiekarian Protector His Majesty Garvez, we announce the following: Aiekara Protection Law no. 15 Changes in the Academy teaching system The Aiekara Academy, with addition to the Aiekara Protection Laws no. 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10 and 13 will have to follow the following rules: The mentoring of spells known to fall under the branch known as White Magic will be limited. Every Academy teacher of these arts has to report and go through a requalification course led by master mages of Teimzurr. No exception will be tolerated. All the materials containing propaganda of the non-existent White Order must be burned or deported to Donhir for futher investigation. The unexceptionable publications will be returned. All the students of White Magic will be checked by the local Teimzurr master mage. Skilled healers might enter their duty in the Imperial Army. The less skilled are advised to start learning Dark Magic spells as soon as possible. As said in Aiekara Protection Law no. 8, all the Dark Magic teachers will be replaced by skilled mages from the Dark Order to keep the high standards of the Academy. Studies of the shadow mages are highly encouraged and paid by the Empire itself. From the power given to us by the supreme and kind Emperor, this law becomes effective by the sunrise of 28th Day of June, 718th Year of Yegash´s Era." When she knocked on the door, they opened themselves, without a visible person doing so. The regent was sitting behind a table full of parchments and books. Not only the table, but the whole room was filled by pillars of books, hastily moved here with the Crystal being moved. "So you came? Please, take a seat." He closed a tome he was reading in, together with the door remotely. "I guess you´ve seen all the notices around the Academy, so you can understand why I was that careful about doing anything yesterday. Well..." he turned his sight to her "I would like to hear more about where are you coming from - and him, too. And also, what were you planning to do." |
