After having successfully rented a room at the Freedom Fighter base and made herself at home (it had taken an awful long time to move all her creations and tools and knickknacks in, to be sure), Dal decided to take a break from missions for a little while to take a stroll.

A stroll to find loose parts for new machines, that is. ^^

Initially Dal had considered wandering around the Freedom Fighter base, asking if any one of her friends had any sort of metal or electrical bits and pieces they wanted to get rid of, but that seemed like too much of a hassle. Besides, she figured, how many more parts can I get if I just do the work of lookin' for 'em myself?

That meant that Dal had to find somewhere that spare parts might be lying around. Robotropolis was far too dangerous to be out scrap-hunting when it was already getting dark. With that ruled out, Dal decided to head off to an old creepy forest she'd heard a good deal about while on-base: the Perte de force Forest.

Dal crashed through another line of trees and underbrush, not even trying to be stealthy. She wasn't exactly known for her ninja-style entries and exits.

She'd heard that all sorts of SWAT-bots and ROBOTs tried to get into the forest, but didn't get far before their power sources mysteriously blinked out. Although Dal had been searching for an hour now, she still had yet to find any sort of powered-down robot.

Dal was getting a bit weary, so she paused beside a large, gnarled oak tree and leaned against it, taking off one of her fingerless gloves and fanning herself with it. She panted for a few minutes before regaining her breath, looking around the deep dark forest. It looked a lot more intimidating now that the sun had sunk beneath the horizon.

Dal gazed out at the dark trees that surrounded her, swallowing cautiously. She'd also heard that people felt much weaker as soon as they stepped into the forest... What if that happened to her? Would she have enough energy to get back home?

Would she get trapped in here just like the robots she was looking for?

There was a rustle in the trees. A branch shook as a dark figure moved across the tree limbs. It quickly jumped down in front of Dal. It was a white fox. He wasnt taller than Dal, but not too much shorter. "...You lost?" He said to Dal, with a concerned look on his face.

"YEEEE-AAAAAAAAAAAAH!" Dal screeched as she leapt back with surprise, her eyes wide, her heart pounding in her chest like a hammer as sweat beaded on her brow. She had to have jumped at least three feet up and back at the sight and sound of the fox after hours of nothing but the sounds of forest and her crashing through it.

Dal's voice fell to a quiet pitch once more once she'd stared at the fox for a few solid seconds. "Hoo..." Dal chuckled nervously as she wiped the sweat from her brow, grinning to the fox, who was just a few inches shorter than she. "Sheesh, you practically made me jump higher than a cherrypicker."

Dal visibly relaxed now as she removed her goggles from her forehead and wiped her brow again. "Actually, I was getting myself a bit lost. Don't s'ppose you happen to know where the nearest robot heap is?"

Lost she may be, but Dal wasn't going back to the base without what she'd come for. She needed some new parts badly.

"Heh, sorry for freaking you out...!" Dave said, kind of embarrassed. He quickly searched his memory for the nearest pile of robots...

OOC: He has a photographic memory. (As seen in "After the disaster"... only Darkness Shadow and Jimmy would remember, and even then...) I forgot to mention that in his bio.

"Ummm... I think I saw some shut down robots a little while that way, at the Freedom Fighter base," he pointed east, towards the Perte de force Freedom Fighter base, "They usually take the bots in for research or something, but I'm sure they'll let you use the parts for stuff. But if that isn't what you're looking for, there might be a few piles of shut down SWAT-Bot builders. It's unlike Robotnik, but I think he may have wanted to keep this forest here even if he could get into it more. Who knows. I'll scout above to see if I can find anything..." Dave replied, jumping up and hovering just above the trees. the forest prevented him from getting enough strength to fly any higher. "I think I see something this way...!" he said, going down where Dal could see him, and pointing west. "Which one would you rather go to, the base or west, to the thing I see?"[redit][/redit]

"Well, what is it you think you saw?" Dal asked good-naturedly, with a chuckle.

"By the way, I'm Ydalia." She handed the friendly white fox her paw, "But you can call me Dal for short." She grinned, happy to have met such a friendly creature in the midst of this vast forest.

He dropped down in front of Dal, "I can't say for sure... but it looked metal. I could see something peaking out of a clearing up ahead... Oh, I'm Dave. Nice to meet you, Dal!" he said with a smile.

Dal beamed bright as a flashlight in the dim darkness. "Well, Dave, it sounds as though that something you saw is just the sort of something I've been lookin' for! Lead the way, Mate!" She waved her paw forward and struck a dramatic pose, still grinning happily. The fur on the back of her neck was bristling, her blood was coursing through her veins. She was about to hit the jackpot, she just knew it!

Dave walked through the forest, looking back at times, making sure Dal didn't get lost. A few times he'd hover up and see how much closer they were.
"The clearing it just up ahead!" he said, turning around to Dal, and pointing behind himself.

Dal was giddy with excitement, shivering with suspense as she skipped just behind Dave, nearly floating on air herself with elation. "Can't wait," she chortled, singing happy as any little bird on the first day of spring. At the thought of harvesting a slew of recycled parts, Dal was happier than a child on Christmas morning.

Barely dodging the forest brush that stuck out here and there, Dal headed on to the clearing.

In the clearing seemed like some kind of tank Robotnik sent in to destroy the Freedom Fighter base. It wasn't too damaged, and a few SWAT-Bots that were turned off were all over the place, on the ground. "Looks like this is your lucky day," Dave said, looking at all the mechanical things and parts. "Never seen anything like this machine..." Dave said, then mumbled to himself, "and I've been around for awhile."
