Okay, I'm not a n00by Sonic fan, and I don't plan on throwing this thing together with simple Sonic Advance/Battle sprites. I've to fully start, though, but I've got a lot of it planned out. This has got potential, I think, so please read and comment:

Sonic Partners

Sonic Partners is an idea for a Sonic FanGame, that will serve as somewhat a sequel to the Rush Series and Sonic 2006. This will, in fact, use the story of Silver & Blaze and all. This will also add exciting new additions to basic Sonic Gameplay, with lots of focus on story and partner-oriented gameplay. It will fall under the genres of Action/Adventure and at some points, Puzzle. (I guess on here, Adventure?) Now, to get detailed.

Story of the Game

Time has passed since the flames of Solaris burned out, destroying Iblis and Mephiles forever, and erasing the events of Sonic and Elise's encounter. Blaze and Silver's future dimension is now at peace, without the existance of Iblis. Interestingly and surprisingly, Eggman Nega has managed to steal the Sol Emeralds and the Master Sol Emerald. Blaze & Silver are chasing him down, but they have found themselves in an unfamiliar city. Blaze gains a strange feeling about the area that she keeps secret for now, putting it in the back of her head... After escaping the city, they look back to witness a time rift consuming the world... Blaze was right - They were in Sonic's World, and the worlds were once again merging. Silver & Blaze have only one option: Obtain the Sol Emeralds. Meanwhile, Knuckles was ambushed by Dr. Eggman's robots as Eggman stole the Chaos Emeralds and Master Emerald from Angel Island. Rouge is aware of Eggman's intentions, and is chasing him down in attempt to retrive the precious Chaos Emeralds. Knuckles reluctantly teams up with Rouge to get the Master Emerald back...

Elsewhere, our furry blue hero is enjoying a relaxing vacation at Crystal Beach with his buddy Tails. Tails decides to take Sonic to his lab in Mystic Ruins to show Sonic a brand new invention... But unfortunately, Sonic and Tails encounter an army of robots as they begin their adventure home - Eggman's robots, obviously. Why would Eggman attack Sonic for no reason, at such an odd time? To finally get rid of him? Or to buy time...? At the same time, Amy and Cream spot a large Egg Carrier-like ship overhead. By the symbol on it's side, it's obvious that the ship belongs to the evil Dr. Eggman - Amy and Cream attepmt to down the ship, and in success, it crashes near Tails' Lab... While aboard the ship, Amy & Cream had discovered an unspeakable monster. A great creation... That had Crema and Amy very worried of who's ship that really was. Suddenly, in the sky afterwards, a large round sphere is spotted floating near Angel Island! The Death Egg...? Or the Nega Death Egg...?

Shadow runs into Eggman Nega while traveling around the snowy hills far to the south of Station Square. Shadow is concerned of the Eggman - He decides to confront him, and steal the Sol Emeralds to stop whatever trouble may be brewing. Eggman Nega attepmts to destroy Shadow with the power of the Sol Emeralds, but Omega shows up in time to save Shadow from death. Shadow & Omega team up, and chase Eggman Nega until they manage to retrieve the Emeralds. Shadow now has the power of the Sol Emeralds to aid him whenever he wishes...

Gameplay

The gameplay will consist of 10 playable characters - Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Rouge, Shadow, Omega, Amy, Cream, Silver, and Blaze - all with unique styles of gameplay and special obstacles, features, and abilties for each one. There will be a more detailed description of each character later.

The basic setup of the gameplay will have the character running around with basic movement keys. The basic elements of Sonic Gameplay will be present - Springs, crates, loops, boost panels, etc. In addition, there will be plenty of special abilties - Most of which are acessed by individual keys. Although, by pressing a certain key, you can bring up a command menu. It will let you press up, down, left, or right to use the special attack listed in that direction. The menu will only take up a small part of the screen and will be instantly pulled up by one key, making it easily acessible during gameplay.

Here's where the 'Partners' comes in.

The character will also be able to swap out with another character on their team. Teams will consist of two characters, only. While playing as one character, the other will follow you and assist in battle/puzzles. You can also bring up a command menu for your partner, which will be the same, but with different keys. You cannot directly control your partner, but with this, you can tell them how to help you battle. it will also be possible to set your partner on four different Partner Modes, making them act differently. The modes are:

Supportive - The partner will only atack when you begin attacking, will only protect you when completely necessary, and will take all Commands. This is the basic mode, and is recommended.
Passive - The partner will follow you, but preform no other actions unless commanded so via the Command Menu.
Defensuve - The partner wil protect you and your life at all costs. The Command Menu is still usable.
Destructive - The partner will become agressive and attack any close targets. The Command Menu is still usable.

These modes will only truly effect gameplay when near enemies or in battle. It will not effect puzzles or basic traveling. If a partner happens to die, he/she will respawn in 5 seconds.

Also, if each character uis going to have such varied gameplay, how will the teams be able to get through the stages without complication? Well, some parts will be assigned as playable for a single character (With the partner helping, of course.), and many parts will be able to be completed with either character of that team. Also, sometimes you will have to use your smarts to determine what character to use, or if both characters will need to participate... Basically, it will all work out, and you just have to use some thinking at many points.

Gameplay Modes

On the Main Menu, there will be various modes to choose.

Story Mode - Follow the teams of partners through their stories in this exciting tale! Five stories exist, all following the five different teams' points of view.
Free Mode - Play through your favorite stages and bosses from story mode that you've cleared!
Battle Mode - Battle time! Challenge another team and take them down in this exciting arena! There are single-player battles, multiplayer battles, and even online battles!
Options - Change various setting here!

[color="red"]Characters[/color]

Well, here's the characters that will be playable, under their assigned teams for the game! As stated before, the characters have varied gameplay, so each will have a description of that as well. And when I say varied, I mean varied!

Team Blur:
Sonic - The Speedy Gameplay: Classic Sonic is back, with new twists and turns - A large array of new abilties, crazy puzzles and obstacles, and his old buddy Tails to help him out!
Tails - The Machine Gameplay: Armed with a genius IQ of 300, Tails will use his crazy inventions to take down his enemies, and his smarts to solve puzzles.

Team Emerald:
Knuckles - The Smasher Gameplay: Knuckles uses his brute force to destroy his enemies, obliterate his obstacles, and reach the goal.
Rouge - The Sneaky Gameplay: Rouge tends to sneak around in her gameplay like a rogue - She uses stealth, pickpockets, kills enemies, avoids enemies, and even solves puzzles like this.

Team Night: (This team seems to be the most unique - Not that I'm a very Shadow fan, but it has potential.)
Shadow/Nega Super Shadow - The Army Gameplay: Shadow will tend to have fast gamplay accompanied by stops to take a large quantity of Eggman/Eggman Nega's Robots all at once - In other words, battling robotic armies with awesome combos and attacks. As Shadow activates the power of the Sol Emeralds, he can transform into Nega Super Shadow. In many boss fights, Shadow will power up into this form, and take on the enemy without Omega - Which will commonly be another playable team.
Omega - The Shooter Gameplay: Omega will tend to use his guns and long-range weapons to take down enemies and overcome obstacles.

Team Flower:
Amy - The Basic Gameplay: Amy will use basic gameplay - Not too fast, not too hard - Just basic jumping, fighting, and getting to the goal. She is recommened for beginners.
Cream - The Minion Gameplay: If you're expecting another easy one, your wrong. Cream will use Cheese and Chocola to fight and solve puzzles. Controlling and protecting four people at once may be a little tricky... (Unless you use a good Parter Mode for Amy.)

Team Sol:
Silver - The Psychic Gameplay: Silver will use his psychic abilties to battle, solve puzzles, and overcome any and all obstacles. Silver will most likely have the largest array of abilities, along with Blaze
Blaze - The Fighter Gameplay: Blaze will use a basic speedy/fighting style of gameplay, but not near as simple as Amy's. Blaze will be armed with her pyrokinesis, decent speed, and quite the powerful punch.

Stages

Here's all the stage ideas I got so far. I plan on a total of 14. They are in no specific order.

Chaos Station - The time rift is destroyign Station Square, and the city has fallen into Chaos...
Angel Island - The classic Sonic Island is back, with more adventure than ever!
Crystal Beach - A beatiful beach is now inhabited by the evil Dr. Eggman's robots!
Mystic Machine - A mysterious ship has crashed into the Mystic Ruins... Explore?
Freezer Hills - Frosty, freezing hills of the south create a beautiful wonderland!
Burning Palace - A castle built into an erupting volcano? This only means trouble.
Moonlight Caverns - South of Station Square, beautiful caverns lit by the small amounts of entering moonlight create a gorgeous underground world!
Nega Death Egg - The metallic palace of Dr Eggman Nega, this may serve as a base of operations for our two (overweight >_>) antagonists...

In case you're wondering, this will take place at the city in SA2B, assuming that it's Station Square, and using the unseen areas of the SA2B Map, it fuses the SA1 and SA2B Areas, and also adds new areas.

Stages will contain enemies of course, and there are three factiosn for enemies with different characteristics:

Eggman's Robots - Very powerful robots created by Eggman. They will come in the colors yellow, red, blue, grey, and white, and will be armed with basic weapons such as guns, swords, and shields.
Eggman Nega's Robots - Very powerful robots created by Eggman Nega. They will come in the colors green, purple, violet, black, and white, and will be armed with futuristic weapons such as lasers, laser swords, and laser barriers.
Wild Creatures - Wild creatures that are not robotic minions of either doctor.

There will be diffrent types of each faction, and there will also be big enemies, kinda like sub-bosses, that will fall under one of those factions. Probably one each stage. ALL ENEMIES, BIG OR REGULAR, WILL HAVE LIFE BARS, AND WILL NOT DIE SIMPLY BY BEING JUMPED ON.

Bosses

Here's all the boss ideas I got so far. They will occur every 2 stages. I plan on a total of 8. Okay, yeah, I'm not fooling anyone. There's a final story. XD And that eight boss is in the final story. Also, as said, before, Nega Super Shadow will take on some of the other teams, taking away some bosses from this list for him. The teams won't be listed here, though.

Nega Super Shadow - Shadow has gotten his hands on the Sol Emeralds, and the result is absolutely terrifying.
Metal Blaze - The future counterpart of the ever-popular Metal Sonic, Metal Blaze is a metallic copy of Blaze designed by Dr. Eggman Nega, and one of his greatest creations yet.
Sol Chaos - Do the math. ;) Heh heh!

Graphics

Okay, so you know what the game is like by now. But what does the game look like? Well, 2D, of course, and the sprites I will be using will be based off of Sonic Pocket Adventure sprites, except with new poses, animated, and somewhat shaded. All objects able to be interacted with will be this way as well. Although, don't think the graphics are going to be n00by and simple - Behind that, the backgrounds will be made with GIMP - Detailed, blurred, shaded, etc. So don't worry, I think the graphics will shape up quite beautifully.

Sound

Not sure what I'll do about sound. I need a good program, and a way of making crazy unique music and sound effects. Music needs to be... Sonic Rush-like maybe?

So... Yeah, this probably sounds a lil' too massive, maybe. 14 stages, 10 characters is probably a lot for a Game Maker game... Nonetheless, I can dream, eh? XD If worse comes to worst, then I will remove the smaller features. But I will try my hardest to get this game made, completely intact with all it's parts. So, if you have any suggestions, throw them my way. And I will accept any needed help you have to offer.

By the way, I won't easily accept suggestions about the end of the story. I've got that planned out.

Also, don't bash me about the story. I've done research and I know what I'm doing - It's just following my theoris about the Blaze, Silver, and Sonic 06 confusion. What fangame is canon, anyways?

Okay, so you're probably wondering what the crap this is. Okay, so, this game will serve as a Sonic '06/Sonic Rush sequel, and will take place after the Rivals series.

Dr. Eggman Nega has stolen the Sol Emeralds and Master Sol Emerald, disrupting the worlds of Sonic & Blaze, and binding them once again. Suddenly, in Sonic's world, a mysterious ship has crashed nearby Tails' Lab. Sonic and Tails end up dicovering the Nega Death Egg, and one of Eggman Nega's greatest creations...

Meanwhile, Knuckles is guarding the Master Emerald, and Eggman comes along, managing to steal it along with the Chaos Emeralds. Rouge is chasing Eggman down, as she knows of his plans. Knuckles and Rouge begin chasing Eggman...

At that same time, Shadow & Omega spot the Nega Death Egg, and steal the Sol Emeralds from Eggman Nega in attempt to stop whatever trouble he may be causing, accidentally breaking the Master Sol Emerald. A new creature is revealed, that Shadow and Omega must face... But not without Shadow using the power of the Sol Emeralds!!

Elsewhere, Amy and Cream have spotted the mysterious ship before it crashed near Tails' Lab. Amy and Cream notice the oddly cxolored Eggman Logo on it, and attempt to take it down - Succeding, it lands near Tails' Lab.

Blaze and Silver are chasing Eggman Nega and attepmting to retrieve the Sol Emeralds. The stumble upon Station Square as the worlds begin to fuse...

Certainly, the Eggmans have devised a plan - But the question is, what?

So, there you have it! As you can see, two members of the Sonic universe have paired up in each situation... There are different teams with different stories to play as formed from these groupings. Here they are, listed:

Team Blur: Sonic & Tails
Team Emerald: Knuckles & Rouge
Team Night: Shadow/Nega Super Shadow & Omega (Shadow will alternate from Shadow to Nega Super Shadow over the course of the story, making him two characters in one.)
Team Flower: Amy & Cream
Team Future: Silver & Blaze
Team ???: ??? & ??? (Secret!!)

Each team can switch between characters through the stage. The characters will teleport into the stage. On a side note, Shadow & Omega have to be the most unique of all the teams. For more details, there's a character breakdown after the stage listings. Anyway, stages! The game will take place around the city in SA2B, assuming that it's Station Square. It fuses the locations of SA2B and SA1, assuming that Mystic Ruins is just off the map on SA2B. I will reveal only the ones that I've thought up completely, in no specific order:

Chaos Station - Station Square is falling to pieces from the invasion of Eggman and Eggman Nega during their race against the heroes for the Chaos & Sol Emeralds.
Crystal Shores - The luxurious beach knows as Crystal Shores has been attacked by Eggman Nega's robots!!
Frozen Hills - The beautiful hills, coated in snow, have been invaded by Eggman & Eggman Nega's robots.
Lava Caverns - The valcano is about to erupt! Can you escape this fiery pit of doom in time? (Timed Stage)
Green Sanctuary - An enchanted forest infested by Eggman and Eggman Nega's robots.
Mystic Machine - The famed Angel Island has fallen again, and is welcoming adventure.
Mystic Machine - A mysterious ship has crashed into the Mystic Ruins... Time to explore!
Nega Death Egg - Eggman Nega's version of the original Death Egg - Who knows what monstrous creations could lie within?
The Time Bridge - The worlds are fusing, and this is where it is all happening! You will face the mightiest of foes, here...

NOW. For the interesting part! A breakdown of each and every character in the game!! Each character is armed with their own gameplay style, making every team fun!

---Team Blur: Sonic & Tails

Sonic - The Fast Gameplay: Sonic's classic speedy gameplay is back, with loops, super high jumps, and funky little robots to battle!

Tails - The Puzzle Gameplay: Tails' gameplay will be centered around puzzles and obstacles, using his various inventions and machines. Tails will also have the ability to use alternate from foot to his walker.

---Team Emerald: Knuckles & Rouge

Knuckles - The Smasher Gameplay: Knuckles will use his brute force to battle enemies, break down building and obstacles, and destroy anything in his path. While slow, Knuckles packs a powerful punch.

Rouge - The Sneaky Gamplay: Rouge is armed with theif tools and sneaky tactics to make her a sneaky rogue-like character. She will be able to steal rings from enemies, preform stealthy attacks, and rogue abilties.

---Team Night: Shadow/Nega Super Shadow & Omega

Shadow/Nega Super Shadow - The War Gameplay: While fast, Shadow tends to be fit for taking on armies of enemies in a fixed postion, and doing crazy bad@$$ combos. Nega Super Shadow is similar, but he has several alternate abailities and can fly.

Omega - The Shooter Gameplay: Omega utilizes the many weapons installed within him, from rocket launchers to machine guns, creating a ranged style of battle. Sadly, Omega is one of the slower characters int he game - But the ranged attacking helps fix that.

---Team Flower: Amy & Cream

Amy - The Calm 'n' Cool Gamplay: Amy has a basic style of gameplay - Not to fast, not too slow, basic attacks. She is very suitable for a beginner.

Cream - The Minion Gameplay: Cream is actually one of the more advanced characters. She is very unique with her ability to control her chao, Cheese & Chocola, and use them to solve puzzles and fight.

---Team Future: Silver & Blaze

Silver - The Psychic Gameplay: Silver relies on his psychic ability to make it through stages - Picking up objects, fighting, and creating paths are a few things he can do with this ability.

Blaze - The Fighter Gameplay: Blaze tends to use her fire powers to battle a multitude of enemies. Her gameplay is quite fast, but full of enemies.

---Team ???: ??? & ???

You'll have to wait and see.

You're probably wondering how each of these teams alternate with each other, without making it impossible to go through a stage by using the other character. Well, sometimes, you'll have to use your brain to figure out what your supposed to do. Other times, you will enter an are where you must play as one of the characters. Characters will have other things unique to them later as I come up with them.

Some more interesting stuff. Bosses! Here's the bosses I've come up with so far:

Nega Egg Walker: Dr. Eggman Nega in one of his basic machines.
Metal Blaze: Behold, Dr. Eggman Nega's greatest creation! Based off of Metal Sonic, this robotic menace is armed with flamethrowers, amazing speed, and a cat-like form.
Nega Super Shadow: Here's one unique thing about Team Night - Instead of the general bosses, you will be fighting other teams for most bosses as Shadow - And yes, if playing that story, you will uise those teams to fight Shadow.
Sol Chaos: Eggman's stolen the Master Emerald. Eggman Nega's stolen the Master Sol Emerald. I think you got the picture. ;-)

And enemies, too! There's no current enemy designs, but there is something special about them. They are grouped into three catagories:

Wild Enemies: Wild animals, monsters, etc. These enemies bear no special abilities, and can be killed easily.
Egg-Bots: Robots created by Eggman, they are reinforced with basic shields and armor, making them extra hard to kill. They will generally come in the colors red, white, and grey, and bear basic weapons - Guns, swords, etc.
Nega-Bots: Robots created by Eggman Nega, they are reinforced with futuristic sheilds and laser barriers, making them extra hard to kill. They will generally come in the colors purple, green, and black, and bear futuristic weapons - Lasers, laser swords, etc.

These enemies will all bear life bars - So enemies won't be easily killed like in other Sonic games. This will definately enhance the gamplay of fighting characters.

And that's about it, so far. What do you think?

I like the concepts, there's only one thing I disagree...

Nega Super Shadow. It's... not that original of a name, to be honest. I'm not saying that I can think of anything better, but maybe you should keep it as a WIP Name? Y'know, keep it on the table and stuff like that... XD

In any case, this looks like an awesome Idea. If you end up finishing it, I'll want to play it, sounds fun. ;)

Thanks, not much done - a lil' bit, though. I'll do my best to get it done, it may be a while before I can really get on it, since GameMaker is only on my Laptop, which I currently don't have with me... That kinda sucks, because I was just starting to really get into working on it. Oh wellz, I'll have my latop back soon, and the game will really be underway. :D

I am not sure what could be added about this. Sounds like the most craziest idea yet it could all as well be a possibility as long you have patience. I did found the bosses most interesting and the monsters or robots as the majority race/factions. A suggestion would maybe to create some boss from the third faction as well, like a small surprise.

Stages sounds all good to me. Yet the time this will take might be well above my expectations. Good luck working on this project Maelic. Wish i could help in some way, but nether have experience to help out.

The game is actually pretty good, but you released a lot of spoilers even if you didn't know. Like, the Nega Death Egg.

Also, it'd be cool if you could do things like using Tails' genius for hints at puzzles(exclusive to him), Tails/Rouge/Cheese's ability to fly to get over a gate and open it, Sonic's old fashion ability to vibrate through certain objects, Sonic able to ride on Tail's back/airplane, Sonic/Shadow's Chaos Control to slow down Robot Bullets, The Mobius Strip, etc, wouldn't it?

Also, there is a program called BYOND and for game makers its known as the easiest coding source. It also has plenty of games, but that isn't the point. Again the coding is super easy to learn, even Youtube has guides to it! :X
