"Gyah! Charmy I swear I am like... 10 seconds away from the anti-histamine," Vector winced as he was forced into giving Charmy a piggy back ride. "Take it easy ok? I gotta call our employer," He continued with a grin that only meant one thing... MONEY. He pulled back a headphone from one earhole and he flipped a cellphone up to it, dialing the number that they had been given.

Ugh.

Good luck had to be on their side for the investigation to progress as smoothly as it did. Despite Charmy’s usual annoying antics and the absence (so far) of the typical hindrances that sabotage their work, they were actually able to conjure up some prominent evidence.

With the camera, Espio took pictures of what he deemed necessary for their case, irritably ignoring the bee’s persistence to focus on other trivial scenes. If he really wanted to preserve the images of the urban setting, then he could get his own cheap camera. After all, his policy was always business before pleasure; a statement his teammates unfortunately had a hard time comprehending at times. Pah.

Lowering the camera from his eyes, the magenta chameleon turned toward Vector, raising a brow at that all too familiar grin. He cringed just a bit. Seriously, just how greedy could he get? “Vector, are you sure that now is the time to contact our client?” He motioned toward the threshold of the GUN building. “Sure, we have access to the evidence, but shouldn’t we wait until after we’re out of the enemy’s jurisdiction?”

It made sense to the ninja, anyway. Their employer had a right to know their progress, of course. Perhaps he was just being too cautious again. But, maybe that was a good thing as well…?

There was no immediate answer when Vector called, but after a few rings, a slow, "Hello?" was at last the response.

Mighty for his part was attempting to follow along with Charmy's rapid fire questions. He was pretty certain that half of what the hyper bee was saying hadn't been coherent, but still Mighty tried to follow along with his questions whenever one was thrown in his direction.

To be honest, Mighty really hadn't been of much assistance in a stealth and information gathering mission like this. True, he was smaller than Vector so he attracted less attention than him, and he wasn't nearly as unfocused as Charmy, but it was clear this was Espio's territory. The Chaotix and Mighty were really just his posse.

The armadillo was more suited to hands-on work as those were the best jobs suited to Mighty's strength. He had been grateful the mission went smoothly enough that it wasn't necessary, so he simply hung by on the ready while they were gathering information.

He walked a small distance away from the rest of the sky to peer around, "It doesn't look like anyone is coming around this way."

At the sight of the cellphone, Charmy perked up even more, completely disregarding Vector's warning. "You're calling him now? Alright! Tell him how you couldn't have done it without me!"

The bee leaned in closer to catch the sound of the ringing, then slumped against Vector, disappointed, assuming their employer wouldn't answer by the time it was taking. "Aww, maybe he's not home..." It was then that he heard the delayed answer, and before Vector could say anything, shouted into the phone around his shoulder. "Hey!! We did it! And we saw Dr. Eggman! The Chaotix are ready for more work!"

The reserved ninja could not deny that he felt a small sense of apprehension when their client did not respond right away. Did his (or her) delayed response indicate that they were not expecting them to call them so soon? Feh. Had it been up to him, he would’ve waited to call them until they had precise, concrete information. Not that he could do anything about it now. He did, however, wish that his fellow teammates would be more competent in their approach with assignments.

Maybe then they’ll be able to conjure up a more fluent flow of work. It would definitely keep the landlady away.

That was deviating from the point, though.

Espio’s eyes widened in surprise upon Charmy’s shouting before tugging him away with a single hand on his vest, an unamused expression present on his solemn features. “Be quiet,” was his hissed, blunt reprimand. They… well, he was making such good progress! This whole mission was definitely his area of expertise; the art of espionage and stealth. There was absolutely no need to go and ruin that over trivial matters. Evidence still needed to be discovered and documented.

Promptly, the chameleon nodded toward Mighty to confirm that he got his statement and then to Vector to proceed. Espio felt the incentive to instruct everyone to stay silent, obviously, as not to attract unneeded attention, despite how blatant that rule should have been. Then again, they were the Chaotix.

I wonder how this would have turned out as a solo mission?

As confident as he was in his abilities, Espio was always wary of underestimating his opponents. After all, he wasn’t invincible, and he acknowledged that there were those who were simply better than him… even with that suffocating ego he sometimes emits. It is usually shadowed by his consistent underlying arrogance.

Vector inhaled to respond to the customer before Charmy got ahead of himself. He shook his head roughly to clear it of any oversized bees before responding. "Sorry about that... windy out here," He appologised, shooting Charmy a pretty sour look. "We've got some pretty interesting news, but perhaps pictures speak louder than words eh?" He said, motioning for Espio to hand him the camera, or at least the memory card, so he could plug it into his phone and send some of the more relevant images.

For the first time, the voice on the receiver was light and sounded pleased. "Ah! Good to hear, gentlemen." It seemed that due to Charmy being right in the speaker, he'd managed to give the impression that the client was on speaker phone. "I suppose that all went well thus far, then?" There was a pause as he waited for the upload, then something of a chuckle. "Yes.. Interesting indeed. And er, did you find a name for this individual?"

Espio nodded at Vector’s gesture, handing him the camera’s memory card oppose to the whole device. He imagined that their client would want see the crucial pictures of which they—er, he— took thus far in their mission.

He supposed some good came out of Charmy’s boisterous manners; he must’ve proven to their customer that they were indeed the detectives he hired as his tone was much more jovial. It held a certain accent and maturity about it that relayed to the chameleon that he was not one to be fooled with. Not that any of them intended to do such a thing. Arms folded his chest loosely, with the camera held securely in his palm, he stared at the phone, stepping closer to it when he asked for a name.

“Ah, yes,” the magenta ninja responded, pulling out the file of which he retrieved. “Apparently, his name is Colin Kintobor. However, we are unsure of his alignment with Eggman.” That long pointed nose of the overlander’s… was practically distinguishable, just in case they would have to track him at him at a later time.

“I’ve also managed to listen in a conversation between the two, where Eggman notably referred to the suspect as ‘Snively’, which I’m assuming is a nickname of some sort, and ‘nephew’. Whether or not they’re actually related has yet to be determined.”

Charmy windmilled his arms as Espio pulled him away from Vector and the phone, voicing his displeasure. "Wait, I wasn't finished talking to him!! Espiooo!" Instead of going silent with the look the crocodile then shot him, Charmy stuck out his tongue to blow an obnoxiously loud raspberry.

As Espio joined in the phone conversation, Charmy stiffly fisted his hands at his sides, annoyed that everyone could have a part in speaking but him. "Wait, he's his nephew?" Not understanding that there was no real proof of such a relation, Charmy glanced incredulously between the others. "They don't really look that alike! They both have funny names, though." Whether the others were listening or not, Charmy would continue just the same, scratching his head as he contemplated their target's name. "Co-lin Kin-tobor... What kinda name is Kintobor anyway? It's even got 'robot' in it backwards! Then 'nik.' Hehe, like Robotnik?"

((OOC: Let's knock the dust off of this thread, hm?))

Gah. Must that child be so obnoxious? How unprofessional they must've seemed to their client. Briskly, he turned away to emit a short, exasperated sigh. They were still within the enemy's jurisdiction. Despite the bee's young age, he was definitely aware of that at least!

Espio scowled when he heard him chattering in the background once more, ready to reprimand him once more when his stern, amber hues widened in realization.

"Co-lin Kin-tobor... What kinda name is Kintobor anyway? It's even got 'robot' in it backwards! Then 'nik.' Hehe, like Robotnik?"

Kintobor.

Robotnik.

... Kintobor?

Now, it was the chameleon's turn to cast the youngest Chaotix an incredulous look. How could he deduct such a simple observation... that held such gravity to their case? Espio couldn't hide the smirk that formed on his face. Heh. Observation had always been one of his strong points. Despite the consistent annoyance he harbored toward Charmy, akin to that of an older brother to his younger brother, he always knew that there was more to the hyperactive child then being the detective agency's "mascot". Why did they even have a mascot, anyway?

"Charmy, you..." he started, blinking out of his dubious state, and averting his attention back toward the phone receiver. "Kintobor spelt backwards is Robotnik. That's... not a concrete clue that the two suspects are related, but it certainly raises a strong suspicion. Though, why else would Eggman refer to this 'Snively' as his nephew?" Espio then clamped his mouth shut, shaking his head vehemently as he internally cursed himself for his indecency. No, no, no! Their client called for succinct, prompt results, not to hear his contemplations. "I apologize, sir. I was thinking aloud. Please forgive me."

The reticent ninja composed himself quickly to his stoic stance, ready to progress with their ongoing assignment. "In any case, sir, what would you like us to do next, given the new information we've acquired?"
