When Vector and Charmy returned to their temporary home, they would find Espio hadn't yet shown back up. However, by the time they managed to put everything away, which would be a fairly difficult task in it's own right with the limited amount of storage that the old boat house had, he would have returned. While he would exchange a few greetings, most of his concentration remained on their equipment and operation.

Along with bringing their cameras back to good working order again, he had also managed to find a good amount of other equipment via a pawn shop to use. Needless to say, most of what he'd bought was used but still in good shape. Two sets of binoculars replaced the broken ones that had been dropped or otherwise damaged beyond repair. He had managed to find a fairly new audio recorder for a bargain price, and an older video camera to use.

One last thing, other then the camera and photo developing supplies, he had found was a GPS unit. In truth, it was actually a child-parent tracker to allow parents to keep track of their children by a wrist band. But with the speaker ripped out (at least he didn't break it doing this) so it couldn't make sound and a way to stick it on something along with black spray paint, it could make a semi decent tracker. When your dirt poor normally, you begin to see more potential in things. Even if it is neon orange.

So, most of the rest of the day was spent setting up the equipment and planning out their course of action. By the time dinner rolled around, everything including the darkroom was ready to go. They finished eating by seven and after the dishes were done, agreed to turn in early to get an early start tomorrow. And that was the point where the detective were. Espio was the first up at the crack of dawn as typical for him. The reptilian normally cooked breakfast because of this normally early raise from sleep and had already started to do so. If the other two weren't up by the time the food was close to done, he would go and wake them up.

Source for that GPS idea.

As it turned out, Espio would not need to awaken the other two. The smell alone of the breakfast being prepared was enough to inspire Charmy to jolt into wakefulness. He sat up to lift himself higher with his wings, in the process disentangling himself from the blanket he'd been using, and stretched as he gave a wide yawn. There was no question that Espio was already awake, so of course the next thing to do would be to make sure Vector was as well.

"Vectorrrr." The bee flew straight to him and over his head, then lowered down to his level, reaching out to nudge him. Before waiting to see if that was sufficient, he began shaking Vector, also raising his voice. "It's time to get up, sleepyhead!! Breakfast!" Again, Charmy moved into the air above him, looking down for a response from the crocodile.

If he had REALLY wanted to... Vector could have eaten him. Instead he just opened on eye lazily and peered at the whiny bee. He was glad he slept with his headphones on these days, taking the edge off his 'alarm clock'. He wanted to roll over, but the smell of breakfast was enticing to his rumbling stomach... and then he remembered the package STUFFED with money. That lit him up. He literally jumped out of his hammock and flexed his arms. "Alright you guys! Status report!" he said in his 'official' tone of voice. Though it was likely he wouldn't hear a word of it till he had gotten a few servings of breakfast inside of him.

Knowing Vector wouldn't hear much of anything he said, and he would be repeating most of it if it was of any importance, Espio would only humor him enough to tell him the status of what he was really interested in at the moment. "Breakfest is ready." Indeed, Espio had just finished setting everything on the table for their morning meal when the two approached the makeshift table they made regular use of for their food.

"Status report?" Charmy scratched his head, perplexed that such a thing was being asked of them first thing. He automatically would flit out of Vector's way once he was on his feet, and circle and dart around him on their way to breakfast. The bee offered Espio an enthusiastic "Good morning!" along with a grin at the announcement of food. His short attention span didn't linger any longer on either of his companions, and in a matter of seconds Charmy was at the small table, already stuffing his face.

"This is going to be a great day for us, I bet!" he proclaimed with excessive optimism, mouth full of food. "We'll get started right now, and... hey, wonder if we can finish this case by tonight?" Amber eyes widened at the idea, looking between Vector and Espio. "What if we do?! But we don't tell that guy who called, 'cause he might send us more stuff first, and we can just let him know later!" The bee swallowed, then let out an impish giggle before diving into his plate to devour the rest.

On finishing, Charmy would leave the table as quickly as he had gone to it, flying around the room in a rush before stopping at the window. There, he placed his hands on the sill, supporting his weight there as he hovered to look outside, relishing the morning.

His fellow reptile knew him well. Breakfast was all that mattered at the moment. The makeshift table was full of food, like a symbol of success! Vector made a mental note as he sat down and piled the food on that he should buy a decent eating place as a gift to the team, and to properly honor the trophy of a successful business, food on the table.

"Now Charmy," He said between mouthfulls, "That would *munch* be a downright despicable *crunch* thing to do. We don't have *shovel* much of an honor code I know, but *chomp* we have to draw the line *chew* somewhere *nom* damnit," he said, finishing his first serving and going for another. Out of the rest of the team, it was safe to say that Vector was responsible for most of the grocery bill, but that was fine with him, he was team leader after all.

By the time he was done, all the food available on his half of the table had mysteriously vanished, and large round bulge was visible in the croc's torso. He patted it and let out a sigh. "Ahhhhh... now that's living...." He growled happily before belching loudly.

"But Vectorrr," Charmy started, taking on what he thought would be a persuasive tone, though to the others it would be the expected childish whine. He spun in place to regard the crocodile, but before he could say anything to argue his suggestion, instead raised his hands to his mouth, seemingly appalled. "You said a bad word," he observed in a hushed whisper, staring.

He wouldn't remain stunned for long. There were more important things at hand! Such as keeping Vector from getting too relaxed. They had work to do, and he appeared to be getting comfortable. "Hey!" he called, sharply insistent, "you're done eating now! We gotta get started, up! Up!" As he spoke, Charmy flew back in front of Vector, arms waving energetically. "This place is boring, I want to go outside!! What're we doing first? We're not just going to sit here! I can hold the camera, can't I? I wanna take the pictures!" He darted behind Vector before he finished talking, nudging against him in a try at pushing him to his feet. "Or how about I go in there and try to get inside information?" His tone became mischievously conspiratorial. "Betcha I'm pretty good at that. What do you think, Espio, is it okay to do that yet?" He flew up again to perch against the back of Vector's head, looking toward Espio, expectant for a positive acknowledgement.

"Alright, you're right, its time to get to work!" Vector said, trying to ignore the bee perched on his head. He slammed his fist into his palm. "Since we are trying to find a mole, subtlety is the word!" Said the huge, bright green, loud music loving reptile to the hyperactive bee. Really they would probably be relying on Espio pretty heavily for this one.

"This place is pretty boring, lets say you and me go downtown and take some snaps of the scenery," He said, flashing a wink to Charmy as he picked up the camera from the equipment pile.

A grin instantly spread across Charmy's face. That was exactly what he wanted to hear. Not needing Espio to back him up as he had thought he would, and of the naïve assumption that he would have anyway, he giddily shot back up to hover around the level of Vector's head. "Yeah!!" he shouted ecstatically. "I was around there when I was looking for work for us! I told you how great it was, didn't I, Vector?! Taking pictures would be sooo cool!!"

The prospect of returning to the city, but this time with both Vector and a camera, had the bee even more elated than before. The idea of commencing their investigation was exciting enough, but making use of the camera on even more locations besides the ones related to their job, for which the camera was unquestionably intended, only made it even better!

...victory. yay.
The phone rang about that time. As they may have discovered by now, the calls from this client were blocked. Untraceable? Perhaps not, but they would not give much of a lead considering they were seemingly made from a public place. However, when the Chaotix answered this time, the only sounds to give away the clients location was a very open echo, as if he were speaking in a long hallway.

He had only two words for the lucky Chaotix member to answer the phone, and those were, "Progress, Gentlemen." A click, and then he was gone.

The phone would have barely gotten through its first ring when Charmy, already excitable, would have zoomed away from Vector to snatch it off the receiver. He looked somewhat confused at the imparted message, repeating "Progress...?" after the click had sounded. Shrugging, he replaced the phone before turning to Espio and Vector. "He just said 'progress.' That means we need to hurry up and do this, doesn't it?" Charmy giggled at that, flitting between them. "As if he needed to tell us!" Turning to Vector, he was abruptly all business in contrast to his enthusiasm over sightseeing only a minute before, adding, "No time for scenery now, Vector! We've got to get on the case!"

With the hyperactive bee as excited as he was, it was obvious that their normal way of deciding the dishes wouldn't surmise. Therefore, after Espio finished his meal around the same time as the others, he had taken it upon himself to deal with the mess; it wasn't atypical for the chameleon to do so. He often refused to leave things unorderly, because it meant time had to be taking to try and work around it otherwise and that slowed down work when they had it. Not to mention in person visits from clients could be spoiled with an opening of a door if their office and home was a pigsty.

After the dishes were washed and everything was put away, Espio would rejoin the conversation once walking over. "While you're doing that, why don't I position myself near the front entrance and begin to take photographs of the employees coming and going? Most carry ID tags with them, so it's likely we'll be able to apply a name with the face. Once we have more information, it may make recognizing who we need to look into easier."

Charmy didn't consider any of the mundane chores Espio was covering to be of any importance. He hardly noticed the chameleon was taking care of them. Still darting in spastic patterns, movements gravitating toward the door, he waited for the other two to make their exit or provide him with an assignment, and hopefully one that would be entertaining at that, more along the lines of what he had expressed interest in before.

At Espio's suggestion, he returned to a hover to look toward him, though it seemed an effort for him to still his flying. "If you're staying at the front, does that mean I can go in?" he inquired, eyes darting between which of the two other team members would be most likely to give him a 'yes.' "There's more going on inside places like that than outside, I bet. They're just going to be walking in and out, what can we get from that? What if we missed something important?!"

Vector nodded his head... and after the dishes were mysteriously cleaned by unseen purple forces that the croc refused to question, it was time to be on their way. "OK team, lets do a good job, and nobody get hurt, and take lots of great pictures so we can roll in the dough!" He said positively, striding out the front door with the camera and a few rolls of film.

Espio would look momentarily to Charmy when the suggestion of entry was made before simply shaking his head. He would not speak again until he followed Vector's action in grabbing supplies. "A flashing camera within their building will hardly be inconspicuous." Once this was stated to the bee, the chameleon would begin to follow his fellow reptilian partner out the door as they started the days mission of information gathering and surveillance.
