Hi there! My name is Jordan, if it pleases you. I am twenty years old, female, and I have been roleplaying for a good nine years.

Which isn't to say that I'm wonderful, of course -- I've been very lazy lately, and haven't edged out from my few long-term rps in a while. Still, this forum and its plot seemed so interesting that I couldn't pass it up!

I live in New Jersey, which really isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I grew up in NYC, but moved out here for college.

I am in my first year of college, after having taken a couple years off to 'find myself', if you'll excuse the cliche. Still, now that I'm ready for it, I absolutely love it.

I speak Latin, as much as anyone can claim to speak a dead language. I am also studying German, and believe myself to be relatively proficient in it, though by no means fluent. I am incredibly interested in etymology and linguistics -- Linguistics in my minor, with a major in Classics.

I love nothing more than my dogs, two Standard Poodles named Percy and Watson, and my ferrets, Elliot, BJ, Hawkeye, Trapper, Honoria, and Kimchi. I also have two mice named Barb and Margene (Nicki died -sigh-). I'm sure you can parse at least two of my fandoms out of just that, haha.

I'm a major fandom rp person, to be honest. I haven't done many non-fandom rps, but seeing as fandom seems to have gone out of style, I'm trying to go with the flow. Still, if you're into fandoms and might want to do an off-forum rp, please send me a message. I'd love to compare lists with you.

Well, I suppose that's about it. Looking forward to meeting you all!

Hiya, Jordan. I know we talked earlier, but of course, feel free to drop any of the admins or me a line if you have more questions. -Offers standard-issue waffle of welcoming- Watson for a poodle? Now that's interesting. You have quite the selection of ferrets. <3 I've always wanted one myself, but I end up with hamsters. xD

Anyway, hope you enjoy yourself here!

Welcome to Somnio, Jordan! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask myself or any of the other administrators active on the forum. I hope you enjoy yourself here. =)

On a more personal note [I was chastised previously for being too sterile], linguistics: o mai. I'm big into language myself. I've studied Japanese for 5+ years and intend to minor in it at uni. I'm teaching myself German and hope to begin learning Arabic as well. I really love language in general, mostly just for the different sounds, though. [Can you tell I'm a music person?]

I'm afraid I don't recognise your fandom at all. Since fandom fell out of style I stopped keeping up. I'm a trendy person at heart. ;3 Very shallow. I love ferrets, however. I wish they were legal in CA.

Thank you for the welcomes! It's always nice to meet other people who are interested in language. My boyfriend is Japanese and he keeps trying to teach me, but learning the Kanji just seems impossible! I have such respect for people who can manage other alphabets. I can read Greek, but it's relatively similar to the Roman alphabet so I hardly count it.

The fandoms I was alluding to there were M*A*S*H and Big Love.

The Greek alphabet always gave me trouble. We had to use it in my astronomy class, but I mixed the letters up way too much. xD; Latin would be wonderful to learn, though. It would help with learning new English words, at the very least.

O, yes, the kanji is supremely difficult. Especially since it's not really Japanese. My Chinese friend is constantly complaining that not every Chinese character is a Japanese kanji, so when she tries to write something it's not actually a word in Japanese. It's sort of funny but it gets her mad when we laugh at her. =D

@_@ See, now, when the alphabet sort of looks like English but isn't quite, I get really confused. A friend tried to teach me Russian and I just about blew my brains out.

I cry when I look at anything other than English letters. xD; My mind can't conceive how symbols can be used to form words, as with Japanese. I know it'd be different if I grew up in the country or studied the language, but for right now, it's just.... -Shudders-

I guess that's why it amazes me that you know it so well, Nat. <3

Haha, it really is hard. I think the only ones I could recognize off of the top of my head are... defeat, convex and concave, and gall bladder. Which I realize makes no sense.

I love Latin. It has a really complicated grammatical structure, but it's so incredibly regular that once you understand it you can read anything. Also, it helps that it's a dead language so you almost never have to generate anything, just read it.

It's cool that you used Latin for your forum name. 'I dream of death,' eh?

I lovelovelanguages too. 8D We learned the Greek Alphabet in precal and now I always write things in Greek since it's more similar to English than kanji is, then my friends are like, KELSEY I CANT READ THIS. >( And I'm like, SOUND IT OUT BITCHES. >((

But I digress, it's nice to meet you Jordan, and I hope you have a good time here. 8D

Yes. xD

I was trying to find Latin words, since I have a Latin fetish. I finally decided on Somnio Letum since it sounded fitting together, and the plot can be a bit depressing, in the right view. Not exactly easy to be optimistic, when everyone's disabled. xD
