(Thanks to DarkSlayer for figuring all of this out)
In order to level you need to gain enough exp points to have your Pokemon level up. In order to figure out how many exp points you need to level up you need to do the following.
10% of your Pokemon's level.
This means if your Pokemon is level 5 it would need .5 exp to level. Here is a short list to help better explain.
Level 5=.5 exp Level 6=.6 exp Level 7=.7 exp Level 8=.8 exp Level 9=.9 exp Level 10=1 exp
Moreover, the list continues until you hit level 100…also the list works in reverse as well.
Level 4=.4 exp Level 3=.3 exp Level 2=.20 exp Level 1=.1 exp
Now that we know how much exp is needed to level now we have to figure out just how much exp you will receive from battles and here is how it works.
You get experience that is equal to 10% of your opponents level. Why? TO make leveling simpler and easier. That way if a Pokemon defeats a Pokemon of an even level, they will level up exactly one level. Thus it makes it a fair system and a cleaner system to work with. This is good news for members and refs alike.
Example?
Spoiler: click to toggle Level 5 beats Level 5 10% of 5 is 0.5, which is how much experience Rattata would get. Rattata needs 0.5 experience to level, so voila. Level up. Level 7 beats Level 5 10% of 5 is 0.5, so Rattata gets 0.5 experience. Rattata is still 0.2 short of leveling up. Level 5 beats Level 7 10% of 7 is 0.7, so Rattata gets 0.7 experience. This means Rattata levels up with 0.2 exp left.
Multi battles? Easy. Take 10% of all the Losing Pokemon, add it all up, and then divide it by the number of winning Pokemon.
Example?
Spoiler: click to toggle and ,both level 5, gang up on a Level 8 and win 10% of 8 is .8, and since two Pokemon were on the winning team, that 0.8 is divided by two. Meaning both Pokemon get 0.4 experience. Level 5, Level 5, and Level 8 (Mystery dungeon recruitment? Who knows ) beat a level 6 and a Level 9 Well totaling the defeated Pokemon levels, you get 10% of 15, meaning 1.5 experience. Since 3 Pokemon were on the winning team, 1.5 is divided by three. That means 0.5 experience to each winning Pokemon. That means Pidgey and Rattata level up, and Pikachu just gets the 0.5 experience.
If a Pokemon loses? Just pretend it won, and divide that experience in half. If you capture the Pokemon before it's fainted? Half experience. If you capture a Pokemon after it faints? Full experience.
Pokemon RPers will receive DOUBLE experience. This is because they are their only Pokemon. Well them and their allies.[/font]
