yes, that's how you do it. are you saving it to the right folder and hitting refresh in body shop after you save the change? |

maybe if you post a pic of the alpha and the outfit you're trying to change i can help. otherwise, we're just flooding this thread with useless chatter.

Mocha can you reuse the mesh over and over (Part I of the tute) or do you have to export a new mesh file for each outfit that you want to create? Thanks!

i'm not 100% clear on what you mean. are you referring to step 12 in part 1? if so, you don't have to extract the body shape textures over and over again. if you have several outfits you want to convert on the same body shape mesh, for the first outfit, go thru the entire tutorial. then for the 2nd outfit, do steps 1-10. then for step 11, at the screen below, choose "load saved projects" instead:![]() you'll get a list of all the projects (texture files) that were previously exported. choose the name of the body shape project (textures files) you created the first time around. when you choose it, the model will appear wearing the last conversion you made on that mesh. you'll be taken back to this screen. ![]() make your changes (via file manager or your photo editor) to create the new conversion. then click the refresh button at the bottom of the screen above, and your new conversion should appear on the model now. continue on as usual to import the outfit into your game. i hope this is what you were referring to.

So I finally tackled the 2nd part of the tutorial and got a few great looking pencil dresses ...the problem is that all of the outfits that I've converted have taken the shoe texture from the mesh and I'd like to be able to take the shoe textures from the conversion outfits as well. So if I do a conversion where both the conversion outfit and the mesh are high heels what would I do to make the finished result take on the texture of the shoes from the conversion ? I hope that makes sense

makes perfect sense. the issue is that even if both outfits have high heels - there's still a chance that the shoes won't be mapped in the exact location on the texture files. it may require additional editing. just remember, the shoes MUST ALWAYS stay in the EXACT SAME LOCATION on the bodyshape alpha and texture files. NEVER change the location of the shoes on the bodyshape alpha or the shoes won't show up properly on the finished conversion. if you change the location of the shoes by mistake, you'll have to start all over and export brand new texture files for the bodyshape outfit. if the shoe on the conversion outfit texture file has the same shape, as the shoe on the bodyshape outfit, you can simply draw a selection around the conversion outfit shoe, then cut and paste it on top of the bodyshape texture file as a new layer. then position it so that the conversion shoe is on top of the bodyshape shoe (you shouldn't be able to see the bodyshape texture for the shoe anymore). save the bodyshape texture file and refresh in bodyshop. your conversion should have the conversion outfit texture on the shoes now. does that make sense? |

yes, the tutorial works for conversions from maxis to any bodyshape.

Yes, thank you so much!!! So I'm guessing that this now means that I can take virtually any shoe from any outfit (provided it is the same size and shape) and paste as a layer onto the mesh/bodyshape file and have it show up on the finished outfit? again!

yes, ma'am. ![]() technically it doesn't have to be the same shape - it could be a square box of leather or whatever texture you want to use. as long as it's in the correct corresponding position as the alpha file, and it covers the whole shoe it will appear properly on the finished conversion. getting the EXACT shape only matters on the alpha file. remember, the texture file doesn't determine the "shape" of the outfit - only the color and texture. the alpha file dictates the shape. |

I'm back again . In my previous post I asked about transfering the texture of the conversion outfit shoe...what I'd really like to do is transfer the shape of the conversion outfit shoe along with the texture. Is that possible or is that something more advanced that requires editing the alpha? Thanks again

damn! sorry i'm just seeing this dani. ![]() if you wanted to change the shape of the shoe, you'd have to edit the alpha - using the same method i described for the texture file: select & copy the conversion outfit shoe alpha; paste & position it over the bodyshape shoe alpha; save & refresh in BS. however, the shoe's would have to be alpha editable on the mesh. you'll know if the shoes are alpha editable when you look at the final recolor. if it's alpha editable, the shoes will take on the new shape of the alpha perfectly. if they're not - you'll still see the original shape of the shoe, but the parts where you changed the alpha will be flesh toned. |
