Is there an canonical explanation to Homer's voice in Season 1 and 2?

Hello all,

I was thinking of how his voice was somewhat different (mainly deeper but also with other minor differences) in both the first and also in the second season (and in the Ullman shorts if we consider those canonical to the series itself) before the mainstay voice was found for the third season and improved upon some throughout the following seasons with some slight shifts here and there.
I understand that Dan Castellaneta hadn't found the right voice yet (the cause of both season 1 and 2 having somewhat different Homer voices) but is there an canonical, in-show explanation of why his voice differed during that time (or are we supposed to pretend it was always like the one from season 3 and on, even from the beginning?)

Any suggestions

I did not find the right solution from the internet.
