This is mainly for the new guys. - The point of "SIM-ulation" is to make it resemble a real NBA game, and like I always say, playing the way we do requires basketball IQ (Not a game-head IQ) and is a mind set really more than a set of rules. However, there are specific rules we play by in Sim City... 1. No Intentional fouls on the CLEAR PATH break - cause 2k has a glitch that rarely gives you the 2 FT's and the ball, and even when they do, there's that FT glitch that makes the ball not even reach the rim. So that's that, absolutely no Int. clear path fouls. 2. On Ball Defense - guard the ball handler, it is that simple - point of this is so that CPU does not play defense for you. With that being said, I am not saying play defense with just one player only, there are situations and split seconds (fast breaks, fighting through screens or a an obvious pass) that requires you to switch QUICKLY to help your defense. I emphasize QUICKLY again, cause you should never be off the ball for more than 2 seconds, if you are good at switching, should only take you a quick second to help and recover. 3. Run Set offenses - plays and all. This real should go without saying for guys with ball IQ I was speaking of earlier...No you do not have to run a play every time down court, but if you are in a half court set make good plays and such, NO LEAD PASSING , or ONLY pick and rolls or pounding the ball with one player until he gets open underneath the basket - that isn't basketball...if making one on one moves, make them quick and realistic, use the dribble controls to get open, none of that running around to get rid of the lock on defense 4. In Paint Scoring - There's no PIP limit per say cause of other things like fast break points and offensive rebounds. Teams with a dominant big man are probably going to have more PIP, as long as they are posting up their big. No lead passing once again and crazy dunks exploitation, should be more post up moves--- but this should all go without saying if you know how the NBA is played. 5. NO LEAD PASSING - not at all, never, no, stop, don't do it. Don't wait for the big man to run up court into the paint and pass it, if there is a lane and you're on a break, go ahead and pass it, but not when there is no lane in like the half court. Also Full court passing is not tolerated, if you do not have the advantage in numbers of players in the front court (i.e. 2 on 1 or a 3 on 2) then don't throw those passes. 6. Trades - So as to keep rosters from becoming all star squads and teams giving up nothing for something, there would be a 6 POINT TRADE limit on multi player trades and a 4 POINT TRADE limit on a single player trade. Ratings are like Salaries basically. |
