An updated version of the New Orleans class, one of the starships destroyed at the battle of Wolf 359. Similar in many ways to the Galaxy class, but with a shorter keel length and stockier build. This, in addition to the upper and lower ordinance pods, suggest that the New Orleans class is a bit mor combat-oriented, but the way I've furnished it, it can still perform quite well as an explorer. Project notes: New pieces include the display case in the observation lounge and new bridge and engineering consoles (Essentially the same consoles, just replaced the textures with New Orleans class graphics) The engineering hull is positioned a good deal farther forward, which allows for a lot more deck space. This is so far the most spacious ship I've created using the new MK IV hull. Because of this, and because there are several high-poly objects, expect long loading times. Another great addition to the Fleet! Nicely done, J! I like the more-forward placed secondary hull, it gives the ship a nice look.

I have to say, I'm following your work since MTS2. At first I was somewhat skeptical, but soon I was hooked. I'm finding myself more and more amazed every time you create a new project. This, however, is by far one of the most impressive piece's of work you've created. One thing I had always gotten frustrated with was the room space on your ships, I do not say this to be...well, a narky so and so. I often tried to outdo, but always failed...miserably I might add! This has REALLY impressed me though, and so I couldn't help but post a comment! Keep up the amazing work J! |

@Will- Thanks much. The engineering hull is kind of like the Nebula class engineering hull on steroids, it's actually just a bit longer and wider than the Galaxy class hull, and it has the "elevator shaft" gig connecting it to the main hull, so overall has much more room than the Galaxy class. @WarpCrab- Maybe it's time to upgrade to a bigger hard drive. After all, I don't plan on retiring any time soon and you'll need more space for the Ambassador family of hulls, the Oberth family, updated Excelsior family (including Curry and Raging Queen class hulls) a few 1-shot Federation vessels, more Klingon, Cardie, Romulan and other vessels, more Worlds of Star Trek, and of course many many many more new objects. @Paul36472- Thanks. A steady hand and 2 1/2 years of practice have made me into a relatively accomplished shipwright. Granted, I'm not very proud of some of my earlier work, but this lot (and more generally this entire family of lots) came out nicely. I'm pleased with the results. Sadly in the sim world it's nesecary to maximize deck space inside the build mesh, which can lead to some very choppy-looking rooms. A good layout is a question of practice. Thanks for the feedback, folks. Much much more to come. |

| J, is the Excelsior family similar to the Enterprise B? I love the panels you created in that class (e.g. the Computer Core panel with the "green dots"). I really hope you will create some more in that style, it was always my fav. |

J, you're killing me. I'm going to need more than just a "bigger hard drive". I'm going to need to contact Dell and have them custom build a new state-of-the-art super computer. My two year old laptop can't take much more. Your awesome content is forcing my hand in this matter.

@Will- Yes. Eventually I'm going to get around to re-creating the Excelsior class in the style of my more recent Galaxy class project. This would mean a new set of bridge meshes with backlit LCARS, maybe making the aft bridge module a single piece (using invisible consoles or invisible tables to enable the "empty" stations), and of course re-vamping the hull with backlit warp nacelles and impulse lights. The Centaur, Raging Queen, and Curry classes are all new configurations using the same hull components as the Excelsior class. The Curry class especially holds my interest, it's an unusual configuration. I'm a bit occupied with other projects right now, but eventually I'll get to it. @WarpCrab- I wish I could tell you otherwise, but the Galaxy Class-Series 4 furniture set was really graphics-intensive (over 100 new objects, and their respective textures) and when I package a lot that includes them it ends up around 35 megs, compressed. I'm hoping my future projects will have the same level of detail. |

Please!!! Do not compromise your level of quality or your level of details, J. I would never hope to see you do that. I love what you have done with these ships and I come back regularly to see what you and many of the other creators on this site produce. I actually look forward to it. It makes me sad that I can't run all of your creations on my computer, but that does not mean that I will stop admiring your work.
