The Sony PMW-200 XDCAM HD422 Camcorder is the successor to Sony's well respected PMW-EX1/R camcorder. It supports the 50 Mbps MPEG HD422 codec and MXF recording. The PMW-200 is equipped with three 1/2" Full HD 1920 x 1080 Exmor CMOS sensors, which support 1000 TV1 high resolution, F11 (2000 lx) high sensitivity, low 56dB noise and a wide dynamic range. It works for SD/HD recording and features a 14x zoom lens with a unique focus ring mechanism.

Sony PMW-200 can record MXF video, you may have recorded many vivid clips when you travel. MXF format is not a widely used video format, so edit Sony PMW-200 MXF on Mac software like FCP 6/7/X, iMovie is not so easy. Many Sony PMW-200 users have encountered problems when import Sony PMW-200 XDCAM MXF to Final Cut Pro 6/7/X, FCP doesn't support load Sony PMW-200 MXF footages for editing directly, the main reason is the MXF video format and codec not well supported. To edit Sony PMW-200 video in FCP 6/7/X smoothly without any problems, the best way is to convert Sony PMW-200 MXF to Final Cut Pro 6/7/X best supported format, Apple ProRes 422 codec MOV format. Once you transcode Sony PMW-200 MXF to Apple ProRes 422, you can import and edit Sony PMW-200 MXF in FCP without problem and rendering.

How to import and edit Sony PMW-200 XDCAM MXF files in FCP X on Mac?

Step 1. Free download and install the Sony XDCAM MXF to FCP X Converter for Mac

Step 2. Launch the Sony XDCAM MXF to FCP X Converter, and click the "Add Video" button to load Sony XDCAM PMW-200 .mxf videos for converting to Apple ProRes.

Step 3. Click on the "Profile" bar and get the dropdown menu, then move you pointer to "Final Cut Pro". Under the sub list are there a few formats which are all compatible with Final Cut Pro. Here we recommend the Apple PreRes 422.

Tip : If you want the files to be in a smaller size, you can follow "Final Cut Pro>Apple ProRes 422(LT)(*mov)" option. If your files size is at SD levels, you are advised to choose "Final Cut Pro > Apple ProRes 422(Proxy)(*mov)".

Step 4. If necessary, click "Settings" to set audio and video parameters like video codec, aspect ratio, bit rate, frame rate, audio codec, sample rate, audio channels as you like.

Step 5. Click the "Convert" button to convert Sony XDCAM PMW-200 MXF videos to Apple ProRes for FCP 6/7/X on Mac.

After conversion completed, click "Open Folder" button to find the generated files. Now, you can import Sony XDCAM PMW-200 MXF to FCP 6/7/X easily, and edit Sony XDCAM MXF videos in FCP X without rendering and any problem.
