wtf r u doing getting this many posts?
XAVC, the newest HD recording format announced by Sony, has gained much attention since it is released, XAVC uses level 5.2 of H.264/MPEG-4 AVC which is the highest level supported by that video standard. XAVC can support 4K resolution (4096 × 2160 and 3840 × 2160) at up to 60 frames per second (fps). XAVC supports color depths of 8-bits, 10-bits, and 12-bits.[1][2] Chroma subsampling can be 4:2:0, 4:2:2, or 4:4:4. The Material Exchange Format (MXF) can be used for the digital container format.XAVC allows for a wide range of content production including intra frame recording and long group of pictures (GOP) recording. XAVC is produced by two CineAlta cameras like Sony PMW-F55 and Sony PMW-F5, which are not the preferred formats by Final Cut Pro 6/7 and Final Cut Pro X. Even you will have problem for transferring and logging these XAVC videos.

If you fail to import Sony XAVC videos to Final Cut Express 4 or Avid Media Composer, it’s not surprising since only Final Cut Express 4 and the latter version as well as Avid Media Composer 7 supports XAVC format (but not in the trial version).

In the end, you may need to find a way to convert you Sony PMW-F55/Sony PMW-F5 XAVC file format to compatible one for your Final Cut Express 4 or Avid Media Composer if both versions of the two are not workable with XAVC files.

By Google search, you may find various Mac XAVC converter in the market now, but sometimes too much options just make people confused about which one to choose. Here I’d like to recommend an excellent XAVC converter called aPubsoft Mac Video Converter which is also used to convert XAVC to any other popular video or audio format at high fast conversion speed and excellent output quality. No matter you are an expert or novice, you could easily use it for its intuitive interface.

Tips:

- Final Cut Express 4 is non-linear video editing application created by Apple Inc. It is the consumer version of Final Cut Pro and is designed for advanced editing digital video as well as high-definition video. But only Final Cut Express 4 and the latter version supports real-time editing in the XAVC format (currently for Intel processors only), imports iMovie ’08 projects and includes 50 new filters.

- Avid Media Composer is a type of computer software application known as a Non-linear editing system (NLE). It is the flagship product of Avid Technology. It was released in 1989 on the Macintosh II as an offline editing system. Since that time, the application features have increased to allow for film editing, uncompressed standard definition (SD) video and high definition (HD) editing and finishing. Since the early 1990s, Media Composer has been the dominant non-linear editing system in the film and television industry, first on Mac and then also on Windows. The Avid Newscutter, aimed at newsrooms, Avid Symphony, aimed at finishing, are all Avid products that were derived from Media Composer and share similar interfacing, as were Avid Xpress Pro (discontinued in 2008) and its predecessor Avid Xpress DV, which were aimed at the lower end of the market.
