whispering pines

One day in early December, while sitting in a foreign living room and watching the film TOMMY on television after happily happening upon it during channel-surfing, I made a satisfying discovery. As I watched Ann-Margret woe-betide over her blind-deaf-dumb son, I partook of a Coors (not light) beer (in bottle). It was then that, in the spirit of the moment's pleasures, I fetched a package of Keebler brand Grasshopper cookies that had been purchased earlier in the evening. So, I ate one with my beer. And it was good. I sipped the beer. I ate another Grasshopper. I watched Ann-Margret dance and wave her arms frantically. The combination was golden. Beer and cookies. I would have to get another Coors and Grasshopper to properly describe the taste of the complementarity, but suffice to say, it was satisfying to my specific palate.

And then, another day, soon after, it was Heineken and Danish wedding cookies. Not as blissful as the first combination, but still a fitting match (Heineken and Grasshoppers didn't go together too well, but the Danish wedding cookies were quite nice).

So, I think this ought to be a new trend. Beer and Cookies. They can be, surprisingly, so very beautiful together. If and when I next mix the two treats (I don't consume either very often, for whatever reason), I will update on the experience. I would recommend the same for any of you who might be inclined to take in a cookie with your beer, or a beer with your cookie, to let us know how you like it. Go out, experiment, make marvelous pairings. Join the Beer and Cookie club.
