Hey Listen
|
They had been watching. Those eyes in the night. Following and observing Eric while he cleaned up and closed up his restaurant, Café Pacifique. The moon shined brightly above, and as the last customer left, and the restaurant’s front doors were locked by a pretty blonde girl. Unknowing of the eyes in the dark, Stacy Hayes bell happily left the front door and went to the last dirty table with her tray. The tall blonde was wearing the Café Pacifique uniform which consisted of a white blouse, a navy blue tie, and a navy blue shirt that went up to her shins. Stacy was very covered up, but that didn’t help her large bust stretching the front of her white blouse to the point where the buttons keeping the shirt closed seem to tug and pull at the fabric. The buttons looked like they were screaming to be undone, to release the large round flesh orbs behind them. Hints of her lacy pink bra peaked out when a customer or even Eric stared at her at the right angle. She was covered up, but in a way that just made people want to undress her. Her skirt was the same way. Even though her navy dress went down to her shins, the skirt was tight and squeezed at Stacy’s round hips and even rounder behind; causing each bend down to the floor a subtle tease for anyone lucky enough to be sitting behind her. With black high heels, the already tall blonde was even taller; able to reach all the way a across the booth table to grab the last empty glasses. Almost done cleaning the last table, Mr Eric LeFer! Eh hee! That was a busy night! I made almost five thousand yen in tips!” Stacy wasn’t sure where Eric was at the moment. He could have been in his office counting today’s profit, or maybe he was in the back kitchen inspecting the kitchen stff’s work on portioning meats for the next day. Or, he could have been at the cash register staring at Stacy from behind as she now bent over onto all fours to get a stray fork that had been dropped onto the floor. She didn’t know, because she was busy getting that darn utensil. Clumsy customers. As Stacy achieved her short term goal of retrieving the fork, the sound of the door’s bell chimed. Blinking, Stacy looked up from under the table to the door to see a tall pale man in a black office suit and a yellow office shirt underneath the crisp professional jacket. Stacy stood up as her heels clacked against the wood flooring. Uuuhh… Mr. Eric? She called out to her boss as she looked at the door handle that was broken and hanging from its hinges. The tall pale man looked over to Stacy and smiled; revealing a pair of elongated canine teeth. The moment they made eye contact, his eyes glowed a shiny silver. At the same moment, Stacy’s eyes dulled and she stood there with a blank, day dreamy like look in her eyes. Hello young lady. I wish to speak with your boss in private. You may go home now. I…may… go… home… now… Dropping the glasses onto the floor which caused them to shatter, Stacy walled towards the exit, and left down the street. With a smirk, the man in the suit turned his head to the cash register. ”And then the monster went boom! And I nearly jumped back in my seat I was so scared! My popcorn almost went into the seat behind me! It was so embarrassing but so funny! I love old black and white horror movies. The classics rock. I wish you were there, Phoenix. With the song, “Call me when you’re sober” by Amy Lee, in the background playing out of Nathan’s NICAM, Nathan waved his hands around as he pantomimed being the creature from the black lagoon and swimming through the water. Nathan “swam” around Phoenix as they laughed and had fun in the science lab late at night. There was a chemical in a flask boiling over a Bunsen Burner, and a small dish of powdered chemical labeled: EN615 Ammonium Phosphate Powder. Phoenix and Nathan were completely unaware of someone watching them from the slightly cracked open door behind them. With their backs turned to the door, Nathan sat back down beside Phoenix and looked at his note book, and then back at the chemical over the Bunsen Burner. He then looked at the thermometer. Hmm. Nope. Not yet. Only 68 degrees Celsius. With a smile to his friend, Nathan turned on his lab stool and leaned against the black counter top. They were both wearing safety goggles, and long white lab coats; both looking quite science-y. As they talked, they were suddenly interrupted by the door behind them opening with a loud squeak. Nathan paused and turned to look behind Phoenix with curious eyes. There, in the room with them now, was a pale Asian woman with short hair, and a very tight, black one piece cat suit on. She looked almost like a secret agent or a spy, except her legs were exposed from the hipbones and down wear her black high heels wear on her dainty feet. She was so pale, the florescent lighting in the science lab made her look almost luminescent. She grinned at Phoenix and Nathan before faking a yawn and patting her mouth. Ahhh… Phoenix I presume? Is this your boyfriend? He’s cuuute. But I’m afraid he has to leave, because it‘s time for girl talk. Will you pl- Uh. Hehe. I’m not her boyfriend. And who are y-” Nathan was suddenly interrupted as the pale Asian woman turned her eyes to him and immediately Nathan began to choke. The boy grabbed hold of his neck trying to loosen his wind pipe for air, however, the gaze of the woman merely intensified. Her once black eyes were now glowing silver as she looked on with a smile; her long fangs, which were very similar to Phoenix’s, showing clearly in her mouth. The woman then turned her gaze to Phoenix which released Nathan’s psychic choke hold, and caused the Asian boy with metal limbs to fall to his knees and gasp. I do hate to be interrupted. It’s very rude. Now, like I was saying before. Phoenix. You and I need to have a little talk. Alone. Closing time at Dom’s garage didn’t exactly mean closing time for the muscular gay man. It just meant that no more customers could check their vehicles into garage. Dom was free to finish up any oil changes, or any replacing of parts without interruption. The black oil that stained much of the garage floors produced a slight after smell even when cleaned. This smell seem to loom to the outside where a pair of heavily make up-ed eyes watched the front window. The window showed the lobby where guests could wait for their car to get finished. That was when a pair of orange hands gripped the front door and tried to open it. Locked. Oh yeahz, Surez. No-bodies in this heres city ever leaves da doors unlocked now a dayz. Sheesh. No trust I tells ya. Cammy stared at the locked front doors before she kneeled down and looked at the doorknob with her tongue pressed against the inside of her cheek. The sleezy looking girl from Jersey was wearing a tight leather mini skirt, a red tube top, and net stockings. Her curly black hair was held back by a pair of bedazzled plastic gems that were hot glue gunned on. With a huff of frustration, Cammy removed two pins from her hair, and began to work the lock. With a few cuss words thrown in for good measure, Cammy picked the lock and undid it. With a satisfying click, Cammy smirked and stood up and was about to push the door open… except… ”AHHHHHHHHH! Get ya’s handz offa mez! The scream could be heard from anywhere in the garage. In fact, the scream could have been heard down the street. When Dom ran to figure out where the familiar scream came from, Dom would find a cheerful pale African man wearing a white button up shirt, a solid black tie, and white pants. He was wearing a white bowler hat with a black rim, as well he was holding a his white jacket in his free hand. He looked like he was ready for a night at a Jazz club. He was smiling happily as he held onto Cammy’s hair with her holding her head; trying not to move too much. Cammy had tears running down her face which caused her heavy mascara to make two black lines down her cheeks. Owie owie owie owie owie. Ooo. Girl. You make to much noise. How about you hush those beautiful lips of yours so us gentlemen folk can have a word. The smooth talking, handsome black man shoved Cammy forward into Dom, however, the Jersey girl got her balance back before she hit her cousin. She was an expert in running in high heels. As she righted herself, she turned and stared at the black man and her cousin. The black man smiled to reveal a pair of long canine teeth that were much more like fangs. He was also pale for a black man; giving him an almost blue tint. Now now, woman. Don’t give me that look. You’re prettier when you smile. So! Dominique. Mind if you dismiss your cousin from the room so we can chat, or is there a more private room we can discuss business? |

The forces of darkness were not all that empathetic to Eric's own troubles. Of all the things to interrupt, a closing time. A special closing time between Eric and Stacy, which only managed to surface once a week. A special time when Eric could examine certain...aspects of Stacy in his lonesome, without even a Vera to come suddenly and ruin his day. Yes, he was quite faithful to Vera, but Eric would be a poorer man were he not to enjoy the fine beauty of women in general. Or in specific. Whatever, she was hot, and Eric was very much happy to stare at her when she bent over. Damn him otherwise. Sadly, the Damned decided to pay their dues. Eric was at the cash register the time Stacy closed the door and finished wiping down the tables, not even attempting to obfuscate the trajectory of his vision with his powers. Why would he need to, when the candy was right in his arm's reach, and no one was around to slap his wrist for looking. Heck, even Stacy didn't seem to care when he did see him look. Not that she probably knew what he was doing, or she probably thought Eric gay, but Eric tried to brush that aside for the better of his conscious. "Heh. You did a good job." Eric didn't notice it being any more busy than any other night, but Stacy would know better if she got more tips. Granted, that was a lot for the few tables she did. It was no wonder though, the way she was dressed. Less so much 'busy' as it was a 'busty' night. Eric opened up the cash register to take the funds out when a small ache at the back of his eyes interrupted him. Again. He had the feeling there was something at the corner of his vision, something that wasn't supposed to be there. It reminded him of his own premonitions. A premonition...of the present. His worries were answered at the sound of the door opening, Eric almost certain that Stacy had locked it just a few minutes before. Automatically, Eric slipped on his glove and summoned his quicksilver saber under the table, though he left the weapon out of view and leaning against the desk for the time being. He shouldn't jump to conclusions...yet. It was a tall man in a suit, not much different in skin tone or dress code than Eric himself, but his teeth betrayed a little something else about him. Eric could feel his heart beat quicker, and he slowly lifted himself off the chair to face the man, and Stacy. He heard Stacy call out for him, and before he could answer, the man talked to her first. Just like that, she was leaving. Eric didn't attempt to speak out to her. He recognized the sort of power before, from Aiya. It was glamour. Eric sighed, but his right hand played with the hilt of his sword. If the man was strong enough, Eric probably wouldn't last much of a chance, but if he was going to die then he may as well put up a fight. Otherwise, if the man just wanted to speak, then that's just what Eric would have to entertain. "Alright. Restaurant's closed, but I take it you're not here for coffee anyway." Eric looked away and sat back in his chair, his eyes idly keeping from the 'vampire's'. Edited by Falque, Jul 16 2012, 06:01 PM.

Phoenix laughed and shook her head at Nathan. He was so much better company to have at night than just her SaCai Vincent. They were listening to evanescence and he was telling her about the movie he had seen. The Creature From the Black Lagoon. A classic, one she had not seen because, well, it didn't have vampires in it. Still, she was able to get pretty much the same experience with Nathan, albeit a more humorous one she was sure. With her tinted safety glasses and black lab coat, she was definitely in science mode. She was laughing, doing science and having a good time. All was right with the world. That was until Nathan looked past her at the door creaking. She looked back with a smile and what she saw really had to make her think, what the hell? But maybe the woman simply dressed that way. She turned to face the woman when she spoke and she smirked and shook her head. No Nathan wasn't her boyfriend. Nathan even admitted this himself, and when he was about to ask the woman who she was he went quiet. Phoenix looked over to him and saw he was choking and she felt cold suddenly, "Nathan!" she moved over and tried to find what was obstructing his airway before looking back and seeing the woman's eyes had changed color. Phoenix didn't need to be a scientist to connect the dots there. When she heard Nathan gasping for air and drop to the ground Phoenix put herself between her and the woman and caught the edge of her labcoat and held it out, hiding Nathan from the woman's vision. Phoenix's blue eyes were burning, she really had little tolerance for those who hurt her friends. As the woman spoke, she caught her fangs clearly, and Phoenix felt cold again, but not entirely. There was a little fire of rage burning in her chest that fought off the instinctive fear of the woman. "What do you want?" she said in a hard voice before she looked back at Nathan. Alone. This would get Nathan out of harm's way. So, fighting her urge to simply throw the heated chemical in the beaker at the vampire's face she turned to Nathan and bent down to his level, "I don't know what's going on," she whispered, rubbing her fingers gently along his throat where she was sure it was that he was hurt, "I'm going to go with her," she wasn't sure if this was bout her research or if it was because she was a vampire, but she had to get the woman away from Nathan, "don't follow, Nathan. Don't. Follow. Tell my brothers and Alex what happened," she bit her lip a bit and then stood and turned to face the vampire. "Let's talk then," she said, sounding much more confident than she sounded. She nodded to the vampire to lead the way out, and when her back was turned she took the beaker off the burner and followed the vampire out, holding her arm to the side in such a way that the beaker was hidden by the folds of he labcoat, designed to billow when she walked. The sides flared out to the side, pulling away from her body, revealing her halter top corset belted across the front, set with tiny skull rivets. Her pants were boot-cut, set over heavy ropers that hit the floor with loud thuds, not the best shoes to sneak around in. All the while she wore her bullet necklace and no other jewelry, and her hair was tied in a braid, "what do you want from me?" she asked as her blue eyes bored into the back of the vampire. |

Working on a customer's Honda, Dom was enjoying the peace of after hours. No more customers could come in, which meant he had focus. His eyes and attention were solely on one thing, and in turn his work would get done in no time. Of course that didn't keep the evo from going on breaks and tangents now and again. As he worked on the undercarriage of the vehicle, Dom tapped his foot to the music of his ipod. As he got into his musical groove he heard a rather unsettling scream. Rising too quickly, he hit his head hard against the car. Groaning, Dom rolled from underneath the car and slowly stumbled up. His head was ringing, but right now he needed to worry about finding the source of what made him get hurt. When Dom worked his way over the door, Dom could only scowl at the sight of his cousin; realizing two seconds later there was someone restraining her. A finely dressed fellow, he looked a tad pale given the weather though. Seeing his cousin crying, Dom rolled his eyes with a snicker. The man wanted to talk, though not in Cammy's presence. Who could blame him. Looking to the oompa loompa, "Go home Cammy. I don't know why you're here but go." Extending his oil stained arm, Dom's hand was glowing with surges of cryokinetic energy. He was a tad bitter still over the theft of his prized suit. |

”Actually, a hot cup of coffee would be very nice right about now, please. Thanks. The vampire man in the suit said with a smirk as he looked around the restaurant. He made his way casually over to a table and sat down at it. A newspaper a customer had left on the chair was still there from the dinner shift and the vampire took the liberty of taking it and opening it up. His eyes glanced over the articles before he looked over to Eric with a sigh. He looked half disappointed, and yet unsurprised by today’s news. You humans and your wars and politics. It’s enough to make anyone gag. What rubbish. And so much focus on these celebrities. Why would you vermin care how many children a woman adopts from Africa, or who’s getting divorce. It’s not like these things affect your lives. With another huff of disapproval, he set the newspaper down and folded his hands on the table in a very professional manner as if they were about to have a meeting to discuss business. In fact, the way he was dress clearly showed the vampire was a business man. Perhaps that was why he was sent to see the renowned Eric Lefer. Alright. On to business then. Eric Lefer. I am known as The Soldier of the Ivory Counsel. But you may refer to be as… The vampire looked down at the news paper at a picture of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. He smirked and looked back up to Eric. … Brad. Brad Soldier. Just so we can skip all the long and fancy titles. My name is not important. You’re name, on the other hand, is well known around these parts. More so at the School of Avalon and Azura. The reason why I am here is because we, The Ivory Counsel, need you to search for a valued prize. You, being able to see in all manner of directions, would have no trouble locating a treasure that we’ve happened to loose. This treasure I am speaking of… is our messiah. Now, you are an intelligent man, are you not, Eric? I am sure you are well aware of what I am. I make no foolish claims of being human or to hide what I am. So, you would not be surprised to know our messiah is a very powerful vampire who can not only see into the future, but also has the ability to change it. She is rather young by my kind’s standards. Only eighteen years of age, but she was turned when she was ten, so in a ten year old’s body she will remain for all eternity. She is somewhere on your school’s island. We would fetch her ourselves, but she’s done something to repel us. That is why we are asking you, as well as your classmates, Phoenix, and Dominic to aide us. I assure you, we can make it worth your wild. Also, as the intelligent man you are, I am sure you would find it bad for business to reject a humble offer from a group of vampires who have swallowed their pride in order to request a mortal’s aide. Ha ha. When Phoenix stood in between the Vampire and Nathan with her lab coat’s fabric extended to block the vampire’s view, the woman smirked. Her eyebrows rose at the sight, and she smiled widely. It was a very clever move on Phoenix’s part. The vampire woman’s abilities worked on eye contact, and if she couldn’t see Nathan, then she couldn’t hurt Nathan. At least not in the psychic sense. Ripping his head off was entirely another story, however, the vampire remained where she stood. Well. They weren’t kidding when they told me you’re a smart one. But, I didn’t doubt you were a fool. Maybe a bit naïve, but you’re not stupid. You’re definitely not stupid enough to fight me, are you? When Phoenix knelt down to meet Nathan’s gaze, the Asian boy shook his head frantically to his friend. He didn’t want her to go. It was dangerous, and she could get hurt. He wanted to say to tell her that so badly, but when he tried to speak, only the sound of static came out of his mouth. The psychic choke he had received not only cut of his breathing, but also damaged the electronic device he used as his voice box. He calmed with a heavy sigh as she mentioned her brothers and Alex. He’d find find them, and together, they’d come to rescue her, but it would be easier if he went with them. As the vampire woman led Phoenix out of the room, Nathan groaned in disapproval, but he was still unable to move from the pain. He tried to speak, but once again, only static sounds exited his mouth. As they moved into the hallway and into the elevator that would bring them down to the first floor, the vampire turned to Phoenix and grinned; once again exposing her fangs. She looked Phoenix up and down as if admiring her body. It was almost lustful, or maybe it was hunger. Either way, the woman took in Phoenix’s image greedily. What a delicious body you have. I wouldn’t mind having you all to myself. I bet you taste devine. However, I have strict orders not to hurt you. Your little boyfriend though, is an entirely other matter. I could technically go back and pull out all the robotic parts from his body and watch you as you try to put him back together before he bleeds out. Wouldn’t that be fun? I wouldn’t even get in trouble either. But, oh well. Maybe next time. I am known by others of our kind as The Fair Lady of the Ivory Counsel. But, you can just call me Lady. I have a job offering for you. Actually it’s the offer is for you, someone who’s one of us.. Sort of. You’re not exactly one of us, but close enough. Eric Lefer, someone who can see beyond mortal sight, and Dominic Lombardi, brother to the the Dark Child. You see, Phoenix, we’ve lost someone. Technically, she ran away, but eh. Details! We need you to find her for us. She’s on this island and we can’t find her. Only I seem to be able to access the island, but only for a short period of time. Eventually the pain in my skull will be so great, I will have to leave the island as well. That is why we’ve come to hire you three to find this little lost lamb. Lanna Lombardi. So, what do you say? Work for us? Or do I have to go back, and play Operation, with you friend Nathan? When the hand full of freezing energy was aimed at her by her cousin, Cammy gasped in indignation. How could he threaten his dear ol’ cousin, Cammy?! Turning her nose up int the air with a huff she adjusted the strap on her purse, and headed for the door. She stomped her high heels onto the ground loudly to show how pissed off she was, which caused the black man to smirk lightly. As she got to the door, she turned and fluffed her hair around a bit. Finez. I don’t needs ya’s anyway. I gots something bettah ta does. I was just stopping’ byz ta see hows ya doin, dat’s all, and ta apoligzes for my past deeds. I was also gonna tellz ya’s how ta stop em, but ya’s can forgets it now! Lattahz! And with that, Cammy turned on her heel, and marched out the door. With a chuckle, the black vampire put on his white jacket and adjusted his white bowler hat. He then sat down on the closest chair and crossed his legs. He placed his fold hands behind his head and just relaxed. So, I’m here on business. I am known as The Seeker of the Ivory Counsel. I also go by Jay. At least that’s what I remember of my human life. I already know I’m not the first vampire you’ve encountered. Your sister, Lanna, reappearing and taking your blonde friend was the first time you’ve encountered one of us, wasn’t it? You probably don’t remember much. I was there. I was the one who saved you and your friend. I had to wipe your memories so you wouldn’t remember, but I made sure you remember the parts with your sister because I knew we’d need to find you again. After all, you’re her brother. She’s going to come after you. And I was right. She had to deal with her, as well as other emotional dealings. I know dealing with Lanna can be hard for you, since you thought she was dead for so long, so I sympathize. I do. My mother was turned. She came to our house after and my family was killed in front of me before I was turned too. Having a vampire in the family is tough. What with all that stress of them trying to kill you all the time or possibly wanting to turn you. It’s an instinct for us to want to either turn our loved ones, or kill them all in order to cut all ties with our old lives. That’s why we need you. Out of everyone, our Lanna will react to you the most. She’s run way from us. Not fun. She’s on your school’s island, and has psychicly repelled us off the island. That’s also not fun. What IS fun though, Is she won’t repel you if you happen to get close to her. We’ll give you everything you need to catch her for us. So what do you say? Want to make thing right in the world, and save your sister? Edited by Mirror Paw, Jul 17 2012, 01:57 PM.

Phoenix stopped dead when the vampire turned around and her entire body tensed except for the fingers around the beaker, she didn't want to break it, it was her best defense at the moment. Given what had happened to Nathan, Phoenix decided not to interrupt and be force-choked, but she was not simply standing around calmly. This was worse than Lillium, this was just wrong but at the same time, this was what she would have expected from a true vampire. Once Lady was finished, Phoenix's eyes were blood red. This woman got to her nerves faster than most anyone else had ever done, and she was already fighting her temper, "he's not my boyfriend," she began, smoothly despite the growing rage, "and leave him out of this," it was a tone not to be argued with, she meant business. She had no tolerance for people who hurt her friends, "secondly, I'm not Lesbian, nor bi, and trust me, I taste like shit; dead blood tends to taste that way," as it was she was operating on only half of her limit, which was actually lucky, but meant that only half of her blood was fresh, and if she would bleed, it would be dark in color. She was not addressing the vampire's points to inform her of anything. She was addressing them to stall: Lady said that she would be forced off the island soon by something that was causing her a headache. If Phoenix could keep her talking, and Lady seemed to like the sound of her own voice, she could maybe last until she was forced to leave. "I guarantee that if you dismantle my friend, you will not receive any help from me. I do have the capabilities to save his life, but you will have just gotten rid of your bargaining chip, so really, you don't actually have one to threaten me with. I refuse, you go and hurt him, I refuse more. That's how that's going to work," seemed that they weren't entirely aware of her abilities, though they did know that she wasn't exactly a vampire, "however, the fact that you are potentially dragging two more of my friends there is persuasion enough. I'm a benevolent sort of person, Lady, I'm usually more than willing to help someone with anything. Had you simply come and asked, I would probably have agreed, no questions ask. But because you hurt my friend, I'm going to be less than inclined," let her mull over that one for a bit. "Now, given that I don't entirely trust you, or rather, don't trust you at all I'm going to need a bit of information before accepting this job. The first being, what are your intentions for Lanna?" who was apparently Dom's sister, "the second is, why is Eric LeFer involved? Thirdly, why come to me for help in this. Next, will you be working with us directly, or are you just going to send us all on a retrieval mission like dogs playing fetch for their masters. Lastly, I need details about what Lanna looks like, the last place that she was seen, with who, and noted habits to better begin searching for her with," stalling, this would be so much easier if she knew how long exactly that she needed to stall. Though her voice was calm and, on almost the same level as Lady, confident-sounding, she was very afraid. True vampires had a way of reminding her exactly where her place was on the food chain, as well as remind herself of that predator in her, that dark spot in her mind that thought of her peers, friends and family as food sources, just as she was to this vampire. It was probably easy to tell her fear, though not through her voice; rather from how tight her muscles were, especially in her neck, the twitching of her eyes to note areas to make an escape if needed, dilated pupils, controlled breathing, and most importantly, the racing of her heart, pumping adrenaline into her system to either begin fighting the woman with the chemicals in her hand and the whip around her waist, or to turn towards the window and make a break for it. But that decision had yet to be made, and relied entirely on what the vampire did next. |

"Bullshit", Dom hissed. Knowing his cousin, she was probably here to try and steal something else. Maybe his car? Maybe his computer? Who knew? Either way, she had been foiled and her plans set back. Waving his cousin off, Dom forced a polite smile as he returned his focus to the dapper fellow in front of him. Leaning up against one of the cars, Dom listened to what he had to say. For starters he learned the man's name, Jay. Of even more importance was the fact that Dom would discover Jay was a vampire. That explained the odd paleness. However the most important thing Jay talked about was Dom's sister, Lanna. Dom's face grew pale and immediately he took a nervous gulp. The last time he saw his sister was in the Nth dimension, so he could only imagine the trouble she was causing. Loose among the students of the campus, she was a real danger. Non surprisingly said danger would have to be handled by one person, Dom himself. "Do I at least get help? Dealing with Lanna isn't exactly easy given her talents..." |

Pfffffffffffffffffffffffft. Since when did vampires drink coffee. Eric rolled his grumbled, but nonetheless opted to treat his guest somewhat kindly rather than treat the man like shit. It wasn't entirely easy, but Eric was resolved not to run around swinging his sword tonight. He excused himself first, quickly running back to make up some instant coffee. He added a little bit of cream and sugar, despite not to the man's request, but Eric took a guess that vampires didnt' exactly have the finest taste buds to discern good and bad coffee. As he returned, the vampire took his chance to scoff at the human race. It seemed quite tangential to things. Perhaps it was an invitation to Eric to respond. Maybe say something to prove himself. Whether as an idiot or as a wiser man. ”We can see the worst in anything we cherry-pick. Maybe try a science journal next time.” Eric politely set the coffee next to the vampire, still making sure to avoid eye contact. It didn't seem like the vampire was interested in messing with Eric's head, but one could never be too sure. Eric had enough disadvantages in this conversation as it was. Eric sat down, and the real talk began. The vampire pulled a name out of his ass, and Eric mentally took a note just to refer to him as 'Mr. Soldier' if he ever needed to. It was a close enough guess. Mr. Soldier seemed more interested in Eric, however, who apparently had a few good things to say about Eric. The flattery was perhaps somewhat appreciated, though also disturbing. Soldier didn't mention much about Eric's libido at least. Maybe he could get some good reputation in after all. The name of the game was to seek out a little vampire kid. A creepy little super-vampire kid. Eric did indeed have a lot of questions already, some he probably figured he did not want to know. What entailed this child to be the 'messiah'? Why was she turned so early, and who turned her? What did Phoenix and Dom have to do with all this? In particular Dom, since Eric could half-guess Phoenix's vampire traits had something to do with her inclusion. Mr. Soldier was never finished with the flattery. Eric wondered if he was trying to through him off guard. Eric wasn't that smart. He certainly didn't have enough to go in on a deal, whatever that'd be. ”Consider me intrigued, but I feel like you've not told me the whole story to this.” Eric's hand stroked the hilt of his sword again, tightening around it on occasion. ”What makes Phoenix and Dominic special to this mission? In particular Dominic.” Eric rubbed his chin, his eyes glancing towards Mr. Soldier's forehead. ”How dangerous is this vampire child? If she can see into and change the future, it sounds more like she will find us, rather than we find her. I'm also curious as to what makes her...what was it? Your messiah?” Worst case scenario was Soldier decided to just outright lie. Even if Eric tried, a dead heart meant more than likely no give away to fibs. |

Hey Listen
|
Mr. Soldier smiled politely as he looked at Eric’s face. He immediately noticed the lack of eye contact, and that caused the vampire to smile even wider. The fact that Eric had his sword ready to attack or defend made the whole situation even sweeter. Soldier picked up the cup of coffee and raised it up in a gesture of thanks toward Eric before taking a sip. Just like Eric had assumed, the vampire hadn’t tasted the cream or the sugar. In fact, the man gulped down the warm liquid too fast to even notice the light color. When he placed the mug down he nodded to Eric’s statement on how not all the information was placed on the table. Please. Ask any questions you wish. I am not here to hide anything. The vampire listened to the café owner and nodded slowly as he leaned back in his seat. The warmth of the coffee seemed to have sooth the Soldier somewhat because he was now sitting there with his eyes closed in a very calm manner. When his eyes opened again, they looked almost human. Almost. Dominic and Phoenix are two unique individuals. One, a woman who is like us; bound to the night. She is one of us, but not quite. Your classmate, Phoenix, has the benefits of being both mortal, and immortal. You see, the vampire child we are looking for has the ability to psychicly harm her own kind. Being not exactly like us, she will be immune to the psychic barrier Lanna can produce because of her human aspects. Now, on the other end of that, she is enough like us to be the only one out of you three who will not be affected by her glamour. In other words, you, and Dominic can be hypnotized into doing what ever Lanna wishes while Phoenix will be unaffected because of her vampire aspects. As for Dominic… The Dark Child was once his sister. Lanna and Dominic Lombardi were twin siblings. You see, vampires have an instinct to either turn their loved ones, or kill them. To either bring their loved ones into their new life, or to sever all ties to their past life. She will not be able to resist Dom’s presence. Dom is aware of Lanna’s obsession with him. However, we are still unsure if she wishes to turn him or outright destroy him. Either way, he’s the perfect bait. SO you are correct. She will technically find you. Lanna was a very special girl. She was a psychic like no one we’ve ever encountered. She was pre-cognitive, retro-cognitive, telekinetic, pyrokinetic, telepathic, empathic, and was able manipulate matter on a molecular level with just a thought. However, in her human form, she could only perform each set of psychic ability one at the time due to the deterioration of her human mind when performing one of these abilities. The prophecies in our ancient text states, after the great Vampiric Seer dies, that twin children of great psychic ability will be born at the end of the year. One of them would be the savior. The Seer was our most beloved, and ancient original. He perishes in the year 1993 in February. And then, the Lombardi twins were born on December 31st. The very last day of the year. One was destined to be cold of heart, and wield fire. The other destined to be warm of heart, and wield cold. The female was turned, and her psychic abilities flourished. I imagined if we were able to turn Dominic as well, he too would have been a powerful psychic. However, when we turned Lanna, their psychic link broke, so Dom was cut off from the branches of telepathy, empathy, telekinesis, and cognitive powers. She is everything the sacred text describes. She is our messiah, and she WILL deliver us. Does that answer your question? Now, if you agree to our deal, I believe now would be a good time to return to your school island. Phoenix and Dom are most likely on their way to the meeting point. The Buddhist Shrine in the Shoubu swamps.” Lady glared at Phoenix. She glared hard, and her body shook with rage. Phoenix knew that Lady was ordered to not harm her, and she seemed to be pressing that advantage. She asserted her authority in the matter. In the end, it was the vampires who needed Phoenix’s cooperation. Lady let out a soft hiss as she backed away from Phoenix and turned her head back to the front doors of the elevator. There was a lot of questions asked and Lady seemed to get more annoyed and also seem to be suffering more and more from a pain in her head. She closed her eyes for a moment as Phoenix finally shut up, and thought for a moment. She also gathered her composure, and rolled her shoulder a bit to loosen the tightening in her neck from the pain. She then turned back to Phoenix. You asked a lot of questions, so I’ll answer in order. None of your business. Eric’s talents will help you find her. You’re immune to Lanna’s barriers because you are kinda human, and immune to her glamour because you’re kinda vampire. No, I’m not going with you. Yes you’re dogs playing fetch. Looks like a tiny vampire. The Swamps. With no one. She reeeeeaaally likes Dom. Lady placed a hand on her head and massaged her scalp a bit after she was done answering ever question in the order she received them. She took in a deep breath, which, for a vampire was just an act of frustration and not to breath better. The smell of Phoenix’s adrenaline made Lady turn to her with a light smirk. Fear. Delicious fear. However, the pain in her skull was getting too much for Lady to think up of a good taunt or come back. Phoenix got out of that one, but Lady knew she was afraid. As they got out of the elevator onto the ground floor, Lady turned once again to Phoenic; looking much calmer, or perhaps more subdued by the pain. So, Phoenix… if you are agreeing to lend us your aide just for the sole fact we have your friends, then you will need to know some things. You have the benefits of both worlds. You are still technically alive, and yet you are one of us. Because of that any psychic pain she can dish out, you will be immune to because that power only works on other vampires and something about you is still human enough to not be affected. Dom, you, and Eric will be able to pass into her territories. On the other hand, you are like us enough not to be affected by her glamour, or otherwise known as her compulsion. Dom and Eric will be easily manipulated into doing what she wishes, and it will be your job to wake them up from their trances. You are very special, and eventually you won’t be human at all, so we thought we’d ask you now rather than when you loose all of your humanity in the next few years. Now, if you’re done being a tough ass, how about you head to the shrine in Shoubu Swamps. The black man smirked at Dom as he leaned against his car. The muscular form was pumping with blood, and strength, and the Seeker couldn’t help admire Dom’s body. It was lustful, but more so was a look of hunger. However, the Seeker remained still and tilted his head a bit from Dom’s question. Of course, you will be receiving help, but not by the Counsel. You will be with two people I’m sure you know. Phoenix Driscoll, and Eric Lefer will be meeting you at the Shrine of Buddha in the Shoubu swamps. You relaly should be going if you’re going to meet them there and keep them safe. Two classmates with very specific abilities. One is a girl who is benefiting from both her human traits and her vampire traits, making her able to bypass many of Lanna’s defenses. Jay stood up and placed his hands into his pocket with another smile. It seemed it didn’t take much for Dom to agree to the deal. After all, Lanna was his family, and humans were very sentimental creatures. The other in your group. He has certain abilities that will be useful. Sight beyond sight. Sight to peer in all directions both physically and mentally. In a way, your friend Eric is telepathic. When you finally confront her, we will need Eric to peer into her mind and find a very specific memory. A memory of where she hid a certain vile of blood. You see, homie, we do need you to return your sister to us, but we also need to find something she took with her. Something that, does belong to her, but something we have to watch over as well to ensure her safety. Now, you’re probably wondering, if Lanna is one of the most powerful psychics in the world, even able to defeat your friend DJ in a war of the mind, how will Eric be able to penetrate her memory to find this. Well, that’s easy. The Sun. No matter how powerful she is, she’s still bound to our weaknesses. When the sun rises, she will be subdued. And that is when Eric will be able to pierce her mind. As for you, I’m sure you realize what your part in all this is… You’re bait. Eric, Phoenix, and Dom were all given a very specific order even if the three of them had received broken up information on what they were really suppose to do. They’d have to figure it out when they met. The only consistent info they received was they needed to find Lanna, and they’d have to meet at the shrine. Phoenix was the closest to the swamp and the young woman had been here a few times in the past and would have no trouble finding the shrine. Besides, Lady was with her, but the female vampire was looking a little bit worse for wear. She paced back and forth in the fog filled swamps in front of the statue of Buddha while holding onto the side of her head with her right hand, and holding her stomach with her left. She was limping, and looked like she was in a lot of pain. As a drop of blood ran out from her nose, she turned to Phoenix with raging silver glowing eyes. Where the fuck are your friends?!?!? They should be here by now! Ugh.. I… I hate waiting. I’m going to fucking kill The Soldier and The Seeker for this. I swear on the dark one they will not get off easy for this. It was then The vampire woman paused and looked behind Phoenix to see Eric and Dom. They had arrived at the same time and with a glare, Lady removed three red ribbons. She tossed them at Phoenix’s feet onto the mud, and glared at the three students. Alright. You all know why you are here. Find the Dark Child. Return her to us. We will be waiting at Dom’s Garage. She was last seen in the swamps down this path. We know she’s here, because her barriers are all built surrounding this area. I must flee before my brains explode. Now get going. With a hiss at Phoenix, the vampire woman blurred past the trio so fast, the only trace of her left behind was the pushed out fog from her path. Edited by Mirror Paw, Jul 18 2012, 09:12 AM.

Well, an interesting enough game to play. Eric learned a fair enough deal about this 'Lanna', though not every piece of the puzzle was quite in its place. She was Dom's twin, and Phoenix had the special nature to be immune to the brunt of her more abstract powers. Eric certainly didn't argue his own weakness to glamour, when he had already fallen to similar powers about...wait, nearly all the time. Yeah, strong mental resistance was more his brothers' capabilities. If Lanna was as strong as they made her out to be, then that meant they'd have an incredible amount of trouble containing her. Eric wondered if she still had weaknesses, classical vampire weaknesses. His best hope was that she was vulnerable to sunlight. Eric looked at his sword again. 'Sol' was probably not enough for the task, however. But maybe it could serve as a small line of defence. Ugh...Eric could tell this task would put him at the razor's edge of his life. One misstep could get himself killed. All of them killed. Ultimately, Eric accepted the task and made his way to Shobou Swamps. During his travel he encountered Dom, coming out of his garage. "If you don't me saying," Eric spoke up once they were on their way back to the island. His eyes looked out to the sea, "Your family is fucked up." He shook his head and laughed. He didn't sound nervous, but it was nervousness that made him crack the joke in the first place. Maybe he was a bit glad Délise didn't stick with him in the end. That'd have made for some pretty sketchy in-laws. At least Falque had the decency to marry someone whose immediate family existed a thousand years ago. Eric would meet Phoenix at the swamps proper, along with a hot piece of dead puppet carcass ass nearly dead from the unfelt psychic barrier. Poor gal, to have such a bitchy personality to go with that body. Oh, and the being microwaved in the brain thing. That must have sucked too. The ladypire dropped three ribbons on her way to running out in a panic, and Eric turned to Phoenix and shrugged lightly. He rubbed the back of his neck to say hello and to check the ribbons. They reminded him of the 'ribbon' in video games, a little protective emblem against bad shit happening. Seemed like it could be helpful. "Fancing meeting you here, Phoenix. Just in time to watch me bleed half to death again." A grim grin infested its way onto Eric's expression, the dread feeling converted to gallows humour. He picked up one of the ribbons out of the mud and wiped it somewhat clean. He wrapped it around his left wrist, just in case, and paid it no more mind for the time being. "Anyway, well...anyone got a solid plan on how to do this? I could watch our backs, or our fronts, or our sides...or all at the same time. But uh...I'm not too great on the investigation thing." Eric rubbed the back of his neck again. He wasn't exactly telling the truth. Eric was more or less expecting Lanna to appear to them. He knew Dom's purpose, and he wondered if Phoenix knew as well. |

It had not taken much convincing after Phoenix's attempt to stall that, valiant effort as it was, had not worked. She agreed to help, slipping the beaker onto a windowsill on the way out the doors. Nathan could maybe find it later, though the entire experiment was botched by now because of the interruption. At this point though, the experiment was far out of her mind, and once outside the lenses of her glasses activated to put everything in night vision so that she could see. Looking around herself she slipped her hands into her coat pockets and walked after Lady, who the glasses were unable to give any information on because she did not technically exist. Made sense. As they walked Phoenix couldn't help but think about what Lady said, being according to her 'half-vampire' was the reason she was selected for the mission. But that in a few years, there would be less of a human aspect about it. It wasn't that she particularly believed the ramblings of a vampire in a skin-tight leather outfit suffering from a giant magic-induced migraine, just that it was something she herself had theorized: the progression of her condition. Having other people tell her what she was already thinking wold happen, did not make Phoenix feel better about the future. Though, what did it matter? She was still going to be Phoenix. The temperature dropped once the two got into the swamp and Phoenix was grateful for her coat, thin material as it was. She looked up and around and noticed that this was pretty much the same path she had taken to burn three years of her life, where her and Nathan had met. Small world. Smaller island. Once they arrived at the shrine, Lady began pacing and Phoenix stood silently, aware of the vampire's every moves, watching her through the tops of her eyes, hands still in her pockets. She flinched when the vampire yelled at her and stepped away slightly before the woman just went on a rant, dropping names in frustration before stopping and looking past Phoenix's shoulder. The redhead turned and saw Dom and Eric, and so turned fully to face them. She looked back at the lady who yelled at her again, dropped something in the mud then was gone. After the silence fell for a few seconds Phoenix looked at the ground, "damn, I wanted to see her head explode." With the danger over, and the adrenaline working its way out of her system, Phoenix began to shake a bit and walked away from the two to compose herself, hand raising to her mouth to stifle and whimpering and crying that threatened to come out. She hoped Nathan was alright, tried to wrap her mind around what was going on and sort through the emotional mess left in the wake of her instincts. Once she turned around to go be a part of the team again she looked at Dom and Eric with a slightly forced smile and a sigh, "fancy meeting the two of you here," she said with a chuckle and bent down to the mud, looking at the ribbon she lifted up. Using her coat, she cleaned it off. She did not have the same logic Eric had for tying it onto her wrist, having not played any video games where 'ribbon' was a protective item, all she knew was that there were three of them, and Lady had deposited three ribbons. It was obvious that everyone was supposed to have one. Phoenix looked over at Eric at his joke, smile non-existent, "please don't joke like that Eric," she said, a sort of desperate pleading in her voice, though it was otherwise calm, "not when our employers are vampires very willing to throw your life away for this crazy crusade of theirs," once the ribbon was fashioned onto her wrist she looked at it for a bit, observing the underside of her wrist before dropping her hand with a sigh. She looked from Eric to Dom, "tell us about your sister," she said softly, as if she was afraid to actually know, "what are we up against?" |

Dom's brow raised curiously when he found out he would have help. Of course not from the counsel, but from people he knew. Both Phoenix and Eric would be helping him. Dom held mixed emotions about this. On one hand he didn't want to put people through the ordeal of Lanna, his personal burden. On the other hand, he knew they were capable people who had faced a lot. So maybe they'd be okay? Whatever the case, help was help. Dom knew he couldn't do it alone, so any help was better than none at all. Accepting his role in this mission, Dom just nodded his head and gathered his belongings. Strapping his digimorpher to his wrist, he was as equipped for the task as he could be. Saying a prayer before walking out the door, Dom first met up with Eric. Right away his friend seemed to make jokes. Dom didn't know it was for the sake of breaking tension or if he sincerely was just being funny. He wasn't exactly sure, though humor was a hard thing to have given the news just thrown upon him. Mustering his best laugh, he tried not to take it so seriously. "Yeah well, no family is perfect. I mean lest we forgot I was helping you with sibling problems not long ago with Falque", Dom teased with his tongue out. Dom may have had a crazy vampire for a twin and an oompa loompa cat thief for a cousin, but it was certainly better than a sex crazed succubus and an Eldritch shadow octopus with morally gray tendencies right? Right!? Dom honestly wasn't sure what was worse. The fact he was defending his fucked up family or that he was turning it into a competition of who had the more disturbing family? (Answer: Eric) Eventually the duo got to the swamp with Phoenix there waiting. The gang was all together, which meant from here on out they were on their own. However before venturing deeper into the creepy swamp Eric wondered about a plan and Phoenix wanted more information on Lanna. Geez, where to start? "Well....how to describe her. Ever seen the grudge? Kind of like that but one hundred times creepier. She played jump rope with a scientists intestines once, if that clues you in on how...unstable she is. It's all a game to her, after all she's only ten. But even though it's all a game, don't let the childish mentality fool you. She's eerily brilliant in a sadistic sort of way." Rubbing the back of his neck, Dom could feel shivers running down his spine just thinking about the Nth Dimension. He had been fortunate to not remember one encounter with his sister, but that one didn't exactly disappear. Lanna was scary and the environment she lurked in wasn't exactly inviting either. The swamp would confuse them, play tricks on them even without Lanna's influence. "As for a plan, I'm the bait. If I play it right, I can get her focus and attention. Prolly not for long, but long enough for us to snag a memory from her. Apparently the white council doesn't just want Lanna. They want something she hid as well, some kind of vile with blood in it. Of course to find the vile, we need to get inside her head. Eric, my condolences in advance." Dealing with Lanna was a frightening experience on its own. So having to delve into her mind? That was probably going to be the real nightmare... |

Hey Listen
|
The moment the trio all had their ribbons fastened to somewhere on their bodies, they would notice the small strips of dark crimson fabric weren’t really red from any sort of dye, but stained with blood: vampire blood. Human blood tended to turn brown as it dried up and oxidized, but vampire blood seemed to hold its dark red color even after being expelled from the body. These once white ribbons on Phoenix, Eric, and Dom began to flutter a bit as if reacting to the wind, however, the air was still. The smell of the blood would most likely be something Dom and Eric didn’t pick up, but now with Lady gone, and the ribbons out of the mud, Phoenix would have no trouble sniffing it. The blood sort of smelled like Dom. Suddenly, the ends of the hanging ribbons pointed out towards each of them. Each end of a ribbon pointed to one of two members in their group, which meant, Eric’s ribbon’s ends pointed to Phoenix and Dom. Phoenix’s ribbon would have it’s ends pointed in Eric’s and Dom’s direction. Dom would have the same deal with his own ribbon pointing to Eric and Phoenix. Together they made a triangle. Together they would always know which direction one of their trio was heading or was located. It was a value gift from the Counsel. Most likely these compass ribbons would only last through the night. As the dark, cold, and foggy swamp loomed beyond the Buddhist shrine, Phoenix, Dom, and Eric would hear a giggle. It was distant. It was soft, and almost sounded like it was an echo of a giggle, and not the actual laughter they heard. Eric was correct. Lanna would find them, but getting to her would be a completely different story. This was a game to the small vampire, and she seemed to know that the Counsel was coming after her by sending these mortals. However, it seemed she was surprised to feel Dom’s presence. ”…. brother… come to… play? … I missed you… I see you… brought me… dinner… So nice of you… The echo sounded louder this time. Almost as if the voice was right behind them, and then as she spoke, the echo moved around them as if the voice was circling them. Telepathy… Even from this range, she was able to press her mind into their skulls, and force them to hear her thoughts. And if, on qeue, Dom and Eric would feel as if they had to look at the shrine. The shrine was so appealing all of a sudden that they just wanted to take in the Buddhist shrine with their eyes and admire it for a moment. Phoenix, however, would feel something itch at the back of her mind. Like she was forgetting something, or that she was feeling lost. It was an odd feeling to suddenly, out of no where, feel like she’d have misplaced something. However, by the looks on Eric’s and Dom’s faces, she’d notice they were staring at the shrine and at the light. The only light they had at the moment was the shrine’s single light bulb. In Asia, some Buddhist Shrines had an electric outlet sticking out of a metal pole similar to camp grounds. This allowed light to always shine on the statue of Buddha to light the way for lost travelers. At least, that was the idea. Most teenagers would just plug their mobile phone charger into the outlet to recharge their devices. The only other light source available was a small oil lantern, with on unlit match stuck in its glass door, at the foot of Buddha’s statue. Unlit, but full of fuel, the lamp would be their only light source once they ventured into the dark swamp. As the bulb flickered where the trio of students stood, they’d hear the laughter in the night once again. The feeling of wanting to look at the shrine, and also the lamp, was lifted, and Dom and Eric would feel normal again. Phoenix would detect the feeling of forgetting something leave her as well as if she just remembered what she had lost. It was clear… The three of them had been influenced by compulsion, except Phoenix was completely immune to the affects. Free to think for herself, and yet, she would know when someone was trying to invade her mind. Lanna was powerful, and didn’t need the act of making eye contact to press her whims onto others. Nor did the child need to be at close range. Suddenly, the ribbons they had tied to their wrists all turned slowly into the direction past the shrine and into the darkness where even the light of the Buddha’s shrine couldn’t reach. The moon was crescent tonight and would provide little aide in sight. The game had started, and Lanna was calling for them to enter the swamps. Group receives Oil Lamp. Decide who carries it.

Taking his ribbon, Dom fastened it around his wrist. It seemed the most logical place to put it for him. With it secure on his body, Dom took a gander at his arm and gave the fabric a once over. The ends of the ribbon were moving as if the ribbon itself had a will of its own. Looking of the direction of each end, Dom noticed they pointed to the other members of his party. Was this the Counsel's way of helping? Dom nodded his head in approval. This was certainly better than any compass he had ever used. God forbid Lanna got one of them, at least they'd have means of finding each other. "Oh...another thing about Lanna. She's the jealous sort. Back when I was dating another student, we went out to dinner in Kaban. Later in the week she kidnapped me and my date and showed us our brutally deceased waitress. My point is, she's unnecessarily brutal to those near me. She'd give anything to just be in my presence, where you guys stand. So if she does show up, don't hold back because she won't." Speaking of the grudge, Dom could hear a faint giggle. He could feel a shiver running down his spine. Things had only just begun and already Lanna was asking her presence known. Unfortunately mere giggles were not all she'd do. She would force herself upon them, into their minds. Dom would feel himself compelled to look at things that normally wouldn't have a strong calling to him. The shrine, his blue eyes scanned over it and looked at it with hunger. With laughter from his sister, the spell was broken. Dom had his presence of mind back, bewildered at why he had dawdled on things for so long. Taking note of the lantern, he picked it up before handing it off to Eric. "Seems like it could be useful, but maybe you or phoenix should hold onto it. I wouldn't want to cost us anything beneficial from getting attacked by my sister." Feeling the ribbons around his wrist shift points, he looked forward toward the darkness. Not even the light of the shrine could penetrate it. With a huff, Dom could feel this was going to be a long night; and one most difficult to forget. |

((GUH JEEZE SO LATE SORRY)) She could deny it all she wanted, but the chances were higher than ever. Maybe it was wrong to think about it, but Eric was simply preparing himself for the very real possibility. Did he think he would die here? It was not impossible, but Eric had other visions to tell him otherwise. It was a small sliver of hope, but it didn't mean he would be safe from mortal injury. That would be a matter of playing Lanna's little games perfectly. More than perfectly. All in all, likely unachievable. One Eric wrapped on the blood-stained ribbon (only slightly disturbed with the realization), the ends of the ribbon fluttered and pointed towards his two companions. ...Interesting. At least they weren't likely to lose each other, this way. Too bad another one didn't point to Lanna, though as soon as he thought of her, Eric heard a giggle in the distance. There weren't many young children on campus, and the number hiding in the swamps was likely even less. It seemed like they were just about to start her game, and Eric heard a dark voice echo even louder. Lovely. They were dinner. Dinner out of jealousy. Dom could say all he wanted about Eric' family, they didn't eat people they didn't like. The thought slipped all too quickly from Eric's mind. He blinked, and the compulsion forced his head to turn. Turn away from the path and back to the shrine. The shrine...it was an amazing structure, especially for something this far out in the middle of nowhere. Eric wondered what was inside it. What sort of ancient secrets it held. Just looking at it...he thought everything he ever needed to know came from that shrine. Just looking at it...what did it have to tell him? He waited for the answer, and it came in the form of a light. Eric smiled, enthralled. And just like that, it was gone. Gone with the laughter of a child. Eric blinked and shook his head. "...Shit, where was I..." It felt like waking up all of a sudden. Was...was he already put under compulsion? The ribbon on his arm pointed past the shrine now, beyond the lamp. They could probably use the device, if they wanted to survive in the dark. "I'll take it. I can see a lot of things, but not in the dark." He sighed. "Well...should we follow the ribbons?" Eric asked, holding out the lamp in a vain attempt to cut through the darkness. "And...anyone got a light for this thing?" |

Phoenix listened to Dom and nodded at his advice, though she wasn't sure how well she would be able to do harm to someone who appeared as a child. She had enough trouble doing harm to grown men who deserved it. She looked at the ribbon as it pointed towards Eric and Dom, then furrowed her brow a bit and brought her wrist to her nose and inhaled lightly. Blood, old blood. She frowned and lowered her hand. Then, Lanna spoke to them and Phoenix looked around for the source of the voice, trying to see where it was coming from. She felt like she had forgotten something, and she looked down at herself, checking herself and her bag she tried to figure out what it was. She then also noticed that the boys were looking over at the shrine and she looked over as well, expecting to see Lanna as her heart began to pick up speed. She would not be the last to admit that she was scared, the dark itself was no help, though her glasses did help with that, and the shrine was lit as well. She did notice the lantern and Dom picked it up and passed it to Eric who said that he could see well by the light, "I have night vision," Phoenix added, tapping her glasses, so I should probably stay a bit away from the lamp," as she spoke she walked up to Eric and the lamp, taking the match off the door and sticking the piece of tape to her lab coat sleeve. She lifted up her glasses and struck the match on her jeans, she would not be so disrespectful as to strike it on the shrine, shielding the small flame with her hand, unable to feel the heat. She lit the lamp them blew out the match, inhaling the scent as the small bit of smoke evanesced into the night air. She stepped back away from Eric and put her glasses back down, looking away from the young man and the bright flare of light towards the dark as the ribbon on her wrist pointed towards it, "it's the only direction we have to go on," she said in answer to Eric's first question and looked at her wrist again before looking back up into the swamp, "alright," she said, trying to sound confident, though she did sound at least resolute, "let's go," this sounded like self-condemnation, a small sigh as she took a step in the direction the ribbons said to go. |

((Ignore the possible commercial at the beginning XD;; p.s. I work with eerie undertones, and suspense. For best results and full immersion, try writing your replies in the dark while listening to the music. Use the uneasy feeling of someone watching you from behind that you get from the music, and work it into your writing. Really become the characters, and put yourself in their place to enjoy the suspense.)) The deep, dark swamp smelled of rotting plants, and rotting flesh. It was no wonder a vampire would feel comfortable in this type of environment. The heat coming out from the decaying mush beneath their feet only made the air that much more humid and repulsive. As they left the safety of the Buddha shrine, the light of Eric’s lamp would be all that lit the way. It was beginning to be clear that this was also where Lanna discarded her victims. Bones laid everywhere. Some of animals, and some that looked far too human to dismiss as just random litter. As the sounds of the swamp’s and the forest’s natural inhabitants sounded in the night, Dom, Phoenix and Eric would feel the temperature get colder. In the middle of summer, the swamp now felt as if they had stepped into a freezer. With the sounds of bugs beginning to fade, the trio would see their own breath fog out from their mouths and nose as they exhaled. The trail they were using had brought them a bit above the water level. A dirt road now stopped them from falling directly into the freezing cold swamp water. With each step, the ground was beginning to get less and less like mush and more solid, yet slightly slippery. The frost seemed to cover everything now, and caused much of the swamp to be frozen over. The farther they went, the colder it got, and soon snow began to fall. In front of them, on the dark dirt road, they would suddenly see a small dark figure. Long wet hair, and pale white skin. Lanna would looked up from the ground through her long hair and stare right into Phoenix’s and Eric’s eyes. Her smile was subtle, but it showed she was pleased Dom had brought friends with him. She looked so much like Dominic too. They were once twins after all, though she had died several years ago. She tilted her head through the darkness and stared at Dom before turning around and pointing at a fork in the road up a head. One sign read Condemned Hospital. The other read abandoned village. Liiiiittle…signs… leading…to liiiiittle places… I maaaaade theeeem… I bought theeeem heeeeere…. Follow…. Foooooollow meeee to one… I will know which one you goooo to plaaaaay in… I will bring it. I will bring it to play with you. … But be caaaareful. The Pig Man follows…. The Pig Man… is hungry… He comes to eat you now… He touches you… you die… you touch him… you die… he sees you… you die… I made him too… I made them all… Go… goooo to the hospital… where the bad men suffer…. Or go to the village… where the bad women scream… I will give it to you then… Lanna’s form vanished into the air as if she was just fog, and as they approached the fork in the road and the two signs, they would find four items on the ground there Lanna once was. A Key to a city gate. A Key to the Hospital’s main doors. An old Polaroid instant picture camera. And a dirty teddy bear with an eye missing. Choose your Adventure. The Condemned Hospital or the Abandoned Village. Choose who gets what items or which items to leave behind. -City Gate Key -Hospital Main Door Key -Camera -Teddy Bear

Walking through the swamp, Dom was feeling assaulted through his senses. With each step he gagged from the vile smell of putrid decay and rotting flesh. The air was thick and stagnant, making the smell only intensify as well as leave Dom sweating like a pig. With only the light of the lamp to give them vision, Dom could feel the isolation the darkness brought with it. However to find comfort in the light was a foolhardy mistake. While it guided their path, it also displayed many things. Lanna's destruction was evident as bones and flesh lay throughout ground. Dom tried to keep his gaze up, but now and again he'd find it impossible not to look at the tainted earth beneath his feet. But the heat would soon dissipate bringing on an intense cold. While Dom was used to freezing temperatures, this kind of cold still had an effect on him. It was eery, carrying with it an air of uneasiness and dread. It made his bones quiver and shake with each step. Deeper into the swamps they went, the cold having an effect on everything. Frost covered the dead and snow began to fall from the darkened skies. In this bleak setting stood a dark figure in their path. Dom immediately recognized the figure and stopped in his tracks. It was Lanna. Though while Dom showed fear to her presence, his twin showed nothing but sickening enjoyment. She gave them an ultimatum. It didn't matter which one, Dom knew both roads to be a death sentence waiting for fulfillment. And then, as if she was just an illusion the vampire girl vanished. In her stead were a series of items, some of which more obvious to their use than others. Kneeling down, Dom picked up both keys before looking to the others. "I'm not too crazy on exploring a decrepit hospital, so I think we should go to the village", he nodded. Setting down the hospital key, Dom put the key to the village in his pocket. The only other item to grab his attention was the teddy bear. It had it's eye missing, but more importantly he wanted to believe it was an item of Lanna's. She was a child after all, and perhaps this toy would represent something. Most of his memories with her in his life back when he was little were unfortunately a blur. He remembered the big moments but the little things, the details? Nothing. He was working on assumptions... |

((AND AGAIN)) It wasn't the smell that got to Eric. Still, he could whiff it from what he thought would be a mile away. The scent of death was ever present, and a deranged sign of what lurked beyond each step he made deeper into the swamp. What didn't make sense to him was why all the bodies were here. Were they other students? Something else that wandered into the swamps? Or...were they the dead that Lanna carried with her? The simplest answer seemed to be that they were just part of some illusion, that Lana was merely making him see what she wanted him to see. That, sadly enough, was not sufficient to keep him brave. The sight of the dead, however, was what disturbed him. Eric was never a sturdy fellow when it came to blood and gore. He was far from his brother in that regard, who could probably bathe in the blood of his own siblings and not seem to care. It was...alien, in that regard, but a trait that Eric could briefly admire in this setting. He wanted to turn off the lamp, to hide the death from his vision. Each sight burned in the back of his head, and the more he saw the more pressing the reminders of just a few moments ago, when he saw a different pile of bones. He almost didn't feel the cold snap at his bare skin. Eric was dressed relatively warmly, particular in the summer, thinking that the night would remain somewhat cool. This weather, however, reminded him of a much colder place. It reminded him almost of home, including the sheer darkness that pressed over each and every day. Ironically...it was almost comforting to him. Comforting up until he saw her. She looked like Dom, but...she was hardly human in of her self. There was a sign behind her, and Lanna was beckoning them to take a direction. Eric bit his lip. ”Pig man?” he asked, but before he got an answer Lanna disappeared. In her place were keys and some other objects. Eric picked up the camera, while Dom picked up the rest. He didn't know what good a camera would do, however. Take pictures of what was going to kill them? Check if vampires or ghosts showed up in pictures? Maybe the flash would stun them, or maybe the camera was magical and could pick up certain things? ”I've had my fill of Hospitals, thanks.” He agreed with Dom. Neither area was probably safer than the other, but the last place Eric wanted to visit right now was a medical centre. He offered the camera to Phoenix. ”Think you can make any use of it? I have my hands full.” One for the lamp, and probably the other for his blade, if needed. Edited by Falque, Aug 7 2012, 08:15 PM.

Phoenix looked around as they walked. Somehow, seeing everything in black and white helped with the sight of bones everywhere. She was careful where she stepped. She glanced back occasionally to the glare of the lanterm to check how the other two were doing, then checked down at her ribbon again. Despite her current position, part of her wondered where Nathan was, and hopped he was okay. Did he get to warn Alex and her brothers? She saw her breath and looked around, even for being the swamp, it shouldn't have been that cold. It was an unnatural cold, and slipping on some of the frost only furthered the notion. She stood up, wiping her hands on her pants and then wringing them to keep them from getting stiff and pulling her coat more around her, flimsy material as it was, it was still something. If she was feeling the cold, the other two had to definitely be as well. "You guys doing alright?" she asked quietly, glancing back again then looking up with a small gasp as she saw the snow. She paused and watched the canopy of the swamp mottled with the falling snow. Where her vision lowered, there she saw a little girl and Phoenix's eyes widened slightly. She had not expected Lanna to look so young, if that was Lanna. Her voice confirmed it for Phoenix and she felt a tightness in her chest. She swallowed nervously. Once the girl was finished speaking and vanished into the fog, Phoenix stepped forward to the fork in the road and looking at what was there for them to take. She didn't touch any of the things yet, and looked at her ribbon to see if there was a direction they were supposed to take. When Eric asked about the pigman she lowered her wrist and looked at him. She didn't ask herself, she assumed Lanna meant exactly what she said: a half-pig half-human hybrid something or other was behind them, and they needed to move quickly. "I vote village as well," Phoenix said, sounding maybe less afraid than she was, "it's open, lots of places to move and run if needed, and I wouldn't be much use in a fight in any sort of hallway," as she said this she worked the whip from her waist and wrapped it around her shoulder for easier access, "not that it will do much against Lanna, but I'm willing to bet the pigman is more susceptible than she is." Phoenix rubbed her hands together before taking the camera and looking it over before putting it in her bag. She looked around again, breathing out another small cloud of vapor, looking at the snow and the frost, she took the lead again away from the lantern putting her glasses over her eyes again and started for the direction of the village, "let's keep moving," she said, still quietly, as if afraid to wake the dead that lay around them, "if we keep still, we'll freeze." |

With the group ready, Phoenix took the lead off in the direction of the abandoned village. As they walked, each and every one of them would feel the tingling sensation run up their spines. This wasn’t due to the cold, but by psychic energy. Reality was beginning to shift. The world was changing, and there was no doubt Dom’s little deceased sister was to blame. A powerful psychic capable of psychokinesis, and the alteration of matter on a vast scale with just the power of her thoughts. It was disturbing to know someone could achieve such power, but it was even more disturbing to know this power laid in the hands of a child. The cold was beginning to leave the area, and as the three students walked, they could feel the temperature rise. It became humid, hot, and muggy as if they were now suddenly walking through the congo. The air was thick with the scent of decay, and death. The sign labeling the fork in the road grew farther and farther away as they made there way to in front of the main gates and several miles of wall spanning both left and right. The entire village seemed to be walled in with high barricades that were easily ten feet high. It was like the town was trying to keep something out… or perhaps keep something in. The large metal bars of the gate were rusty, sharp to the touch, and stained and crusted with blood. As the three looked up they would see three bodies skewered on the gate’s spear like top. Two men and a woman… they appeared to have been trying to climb over the barred gate to escape, but met a sad, and painful death. Their blood had dripped down the gate bars and over time dried into a dark brown crust that covered everything; even the ground around the entrance way. Keeping the gates closed together was a chain and lock. The key to the city in Dom’s hands would open the entrance and let them in. As Dom opened the path, and pushed the gate open, he would disturb the dead bodies on top, and cause fresh, spoiled blood to ooze out and drip onto him. Now a steady stream of droplets made of putrid, liquefied organs streamed down onto the ground; bringing with it its horrible, vomit inducing odor. With the humidity in the air, the stench would attach to their skin, their hair, and their clothe; making them smell faintly of the sick area around them. As the three entered the town, they would see it was like stepping into a war zone. Buildings were falling apart, the roads were cracked, and unstable, and there was a distinct grayish, redish tint to the air. The trees planted in the side of the road were black, leafless and dead. The small plants, and grass here and there were dry and dead. There was no life anywhere. Biohazard signs were posted everywhere on signs, walls, and even long abandoned vehicles. As Phoenix, Eric, and Dom shined their lamp light onto more of the scene, they would notice countless black body bags littered on the ground all around the main gates. Beside Eric to his right was a large pick up truck with several black body bags piled high in its back. Disease… sickness… it was clear in this world Lanna had created for them this town was stricken with disease. It appeared like the villager were trying to remove the dead, but were overcome by the infection. As Dom stepped over the first few bodies, he would feel one of the black body bags shift. It moved, and as Dom looked at it, if he chose to, he’d see another would move. Then another. Twitching, and stuggling slowly, the body bags began to moan. Next to Phoenix and Eric, a body bag would roll off the truck and hit the ground with a heavy thud. The moans caused more bags to come to life slowly, and yet what ever were in these bags seemed to be stuck; unable to escape their dark confinements. Suddenly, all their ribbons would tug at their wrists, and when they noticed, they would see the loose strands were pointing off into the distance to a grocery store. That was when one of the creatures in a black body bag learned how to unzip its containment. Slowly the sound of the plastic being zipped open echoed to them, and out rose a decrepit, decayed corpse of a woman. She was obese, and her stomach looked like it was ripped open and eaten out. She stood up slowly and with her grey skinned face, and her white dead eyes, she stared at the three for a moment. Then, she gurgled on her own putrefying throat fluids, and began to stagger towards them.

Phoenix led the way, keeping ahead of the light to keep her vision clear. She noted when the temperature began rising, and she was feeling much more comfortable, dressed, as she was, for warmer weather. Though comfortable was probably not the right word. Not with the situation they were in. Phoenix kept an eye out for anything resembling a pigman, and ignored most anything else, the sound of the swamp, the heat and humidity, the sound of Dom and Eric's footsteps. What she couldn't ignore was the chill up her spine. She made an uncomfortable noise, frowning and looking back at the other two, making sure they were okay. When they got to the gate she held her sleeve to her nose. It was wretched. Once she, 'got used to it' she lowered the sleeve and inspected, still with a look of disgust. She reached for the bars, but didn't feel how sharp they were, or the rough texture of the dried crust that made them brown. Oh but she could smell the blood. She lifted her hand away and looked up at the bodies, knuckle pressed to her lips to help keep down the bile. Swallowing it down she looked away and through the bars at the town then back at Dom, stepping aside to let him open the gate. She flinched and jumped back when the rotten flesh and juice from the bodies fell over the three of them. She gagged, but still managed to keep the bile down and worked to wipe off what she could. She could not feel how disgusting it was, but the scent was enough. "Still much better choice than the hospital," she forced out of her throat jerking her arms down to rid herself of a bit of the grime. Once she stepped inside the village and looked around, it was a familiar sight, and she frowned at it, running a hand through her hair. Dead diseased bodies. Plague. She made a noise in her throat, a sympathetic sort of noise, "is any of this real Dom, or is Lanna making this all up in our heads?" she asked. It would be difficult to feel bad for things that weren't real. She was sure this was fake, why would there be a hospital of diseased village in a swamp on an island? The island wasn't big enough for something like that. Looking around, she noted how many dead bodies there were and thought to herself that this would be the perfect set up for zombies. As if on cue one of the body bags rolled over, "oh crap," she said, sighing as if defeated. She then looked down at her ribbon, pointing down at the grocery store. She narrowed her eyes before looking over at the zombie as it made its way out of the bag, "time to see if it can run?" she offered to her two comrades, already leaning to dash to the store. In a fight against zombies, she couldn't do much. She was not a martial artist, and whips didn't work on things that didn't feel pain. She did however take off the whip and turn it around, wrapping the popper around one hand, leaving the lead-filled handle free to be used as blunt-force trauma towards the head, the best way to put down a zombie. She waited for the other two, spinning the handle to her side, she wold not leave them behind for any reason. |

It felt like his own skin was a size too small. The chill in his spine left him feeling constrained in his own body. Every step forward felt slow, wobly, imbalanced. He breathed harder and faster, trying to find the energy to take another step forward while his knuckles grew white against the handle of the lantern. Eric's eyes darted to each side, trying to find something in its light. Something he didn't want to see. The warmer weather was only briefly welcome, until it grew humid and unpleasant. Personally, he'd have rather fought with the cold throughout the excursion, but he didn't dare even crack a joke about it. Heck, he probably shouldn't even think about it. He didn't want to tempt fate with Lanna. It wasn't just hot, however. Eric could feel the sickness to his stomach, and it was only then did he take the time to consider why, and his sense of smell came to his awareness. The effect was almost immediate. Eric's face turned a tinge of green, and his free hand immediately shoved up against his nostrils and lips. His stomach growled in sickened agaony, only made worse as his eyes fell on the three figures impaled at the top of the gate, their guts lined along the metal bars. Eric had kept his distance as Dom opened the gate, but it didn't really matter in the end. As the guts spilled out, Eric stumbled away from the grizzly scene right until he couldn't hold his contents down. He turned and ejected on the side of the road, his face in a sweat and the droplets sticking to his skin along with the scent of horror. He wiped his face, panting, though it didn't manage him much good. He stumbled forward, plugging his nostrils and keeping his head down with the light in front of him. He couldn't risk staying at the back. He had to give Dom light, if anything else. Though...maybe he should just...give it to him...maybe Eric could just...no, he couldn't turn back. Even if he wanted to, Lanna would probably eat him. The light shined on many things Eric didn't wish to see. The black body bags, the biohazard signs, the ruins of the city. It wasn't quite a warzone, it was something worse. But...what was this place? Was this a real place? It couldn't have been in the swamps, but...was this something from Lanna's memory, or just something she fabricated? Either way, it was painful enough to perceive. The sight, the smells, the feeling, the taste of death...and now the noise. "Just walk. Just walk." Eric muttered, mostly to himself. He kept walking forward. He didn't want to stop and see, even if the...bodies were trying to escape. "Just go. Just go. Just go." Eric's pace quickened. He could hear one of the bags opening amongst the moaning. He didn't realize he was ahead of Phoenix already, simply rushing along with the ribbon pulling at his wrist. He barely even saw where he was going with the lantern, afriad to see the atrocity he knew was just around him. |

Dom could feel unease filling his stomach and branching out through the rest of his body. Reality was shifting, and the effects of it were apparent. Lanna was the only person Dom knew of to make him feel cold. Psychic cold was very different from temperature cold, and it was something that was very apparent to the Italian. The chill wouldn't last long as the group got closer. Temperatures would rise and Dom would feel the humidity kick in. It was as if he was walking through a dense jungle. Unfortunately the heat was just one component he'd have to deal with as decay filled the air. The stench of death was once again apparent, and Dom could only gag yet again in disgust. He just wanted to get to the village and get through it as fast as he can. Luckily, the decrepit and rusted gates were in sight. Trying not to cut himself on the jagged metal, Dom put in the key and opened the entrance to the village. He had seen the dead bodies skewered at the top of the gate, but he'd rather ignore such a sight than acknowledge it. On some level this was just a psychic illusion, but he knew deep down that this was also very real. Unfortunately with Lanna it was hard to separate the real from the fake. Stepping into the city, Dom could see they had walked into the apocalypse. Everything was in a state of ruin, with the city and all its inhabitants ravaged down to nothing. Any sign of life was dead and gone, with only remnants left to remind them of what was. To make matters worse, there were body bags scattered around the place. Taking a nervous gulp, Dom was in no mood to take the slow road. He like Eric, was ready to move and move fast. However it wasn't until he saw a zombie looking woman pop out of her body bag, that he decided to just go into a full on run. He had the capacity to fight for sure, but he'd much rather not. He didn't even want to get close to the undead unless he had to. Letting the ribbon guide his way, he ran toward the grocery store trying not to look at the abomination that was stalking them. |

The light of the lamp would move about on the street as the three of them ran for the grocery store. The ribbons led the way with one end of it’s long cord, and with the other end pointing to one of the other three. As the light of Eric’s lamp moved across the ground, they would see more and more body bags, and as the light crossed the black surfaces of the body containers, something would move, or groan from within. Jumping over debris, and running around decrepit rusty cars was the easy part, as Phoenix, Dom, and Eric would discover. Actually getting inside the grocery store was the hard part. In there way was a corpse hanging from the door way. The noose around his neck had been cutting into his decaying flesh for what looked like months. His skin was putrid, and wrinkly, and as the students’ lamp shined on him, his white, spoiled eyes opened. He groaned for a moment before he focused on the woman. As he hung there he reached out towards Phoenix, even if he couldn’t reach her from where the trio stood. The entire grocery store was boarded up except for the door, and just behind the door was the security gates anyone could close and lock to keep all unwanted followers out. The only problem was the hanged man. As he groaned, and moaned hungrily, his feet dangled a good two or three feet off the ground. Below his pus dripping feet was a long broom covered in his foul juices. Beside the hanging dead body, Eric’s light would show some sloppy graffiti painted onto the boards of the building with red spray paint in a style of a children’s game. S w _ _ g t h e h a _ g e d M a _, _ r C r a w l b e _ e a t h h _ m. The message was clear. They could get away from the hanged man’s clutches by swinging him back and forth with the broom and jumping through the entry way while avoiding the swinging pendulum of a rotting corpse. Or, they could crawl underneath the hanged carcass’s dripping feet. The choice would be theirs. As they read the message, there would be two things that would quickly get their attention. The first thing they would notice was that the fat dead lady they had encountered earlier was making noises behind them a few meters away. She moved slow, but she moved steady. She moaned as she followed them, and it wouldn’t take her all that long to reach the three students. The second thing they would notice, there was a shining reflection of something metal on the floor inside the grocery store; glinting in Eric’s lamp light. Right in their view was a gun.
